Oh my. I am a crafty haberdashery JUNKIE....So this place is heaven for me. Ribbons, wool, acrylic paint, crochet hooks, storage boxes, embroidery scissors, felt squares, buttons, shrink plastic, embroidery thread, 0.05 fine-liners, ink pads, picture frames, and paint brushes are just a few things that sometimes fill up my basket when i allow myself a monthly visit here! It is huge, and never too busy...and the music play list sometimes comes up with some gems! An enormous range of craft materials, including a very useful DIY framing department where you can measure up your own prints and choose frames, mounts &c. yourself for a fraction of the cost of professional framing. Other things that you may be surprised to find there include a big artificial flower department, a model train section (not cheap!), and a doll house aisle with a variety of different ranges of furniture and dolls. My personal criticism is that the origami paper selection is slightly limited; there is hardly any washi paper and their bog-standard packs of paper have far fewer colours than Muji's (cheaper) equivalent. In general, value for money varies considerably across different products and there are a lot of items that you would find for considerably less on eBay or an online craft store. The best value for money is in the Hobbycraft own-brand rangeyou can get a pack of six pairs of craft scissors for under £5. Oh yeah, one more complaintthe aisles aren't labelled, which makes finding what you want rather tedious. It took my friend and me a long time to seek out the candle-making section. Still, all-round it's got a decent range of products for just about every craft activity you can think of, as well as accessories like storage boxes and carry cases, so it's definitely worth a visit. read more

Brand new warehouse-type store located at the Lion retail Park. Huge selection of all things craft and craft-related spread over this vast 2 storey building. If you couldn't find what you were after here, I'd be very surprised. Apparently there are more than 32,000 products within the building. This huge store is heaven for any art and crafts fan's. This large store is spread over a huge 2 floors and sells a huge range of products for painters, card makers, sewers and much more. The tills are located at the front of the store as you walk in and the main item downstairs are for sewing. They sell a large range of flowers, materials, cottons, buttons, sew on patches and more. Towards the back of the store they have children's crafts such as felt, foam shapes, wooden lolly sticks, craft kits for children and much more such as sequins, different glues and tapes and foam sheets. There is a lift at the back of the store, but as you walk in you will notice a set of stairs which take you upto the upper floor. On this level they sell a large range of products including books, frames, canvasses, paints, pain brushes and accessories. Card making items such as card blanks, different papers, embellishments and car stock, peel offs, envelopes and much more. Towars the backof the stroe they also sell things like train tracks and other accessories such as platforms and tree's to make your own railway set at home. They dont have any tills upstairs which I was a bit surprised by as it means you have to go back downstairs to pay for your items. They do how-ever have about 5-6 tills downstria snad are quite fast at serving people but there does how-ever normally always seem to be a queue. If you go here at weekends it can be very busy as well. I have been here a few times and staff haven't been able to find prices for certain items and they have to look the items up. Seeing as this was a time when I bought lots of different papers and card blanks for card-making this took ages and i was probably at the till for about 15mins or more, so in the end decided to leave everything because it was just taking too long. They do have some great offers here and some of the prices of the items are very good, how-ever there are some certain items which I think are a bit over-priced for what they are. This has plenty of parking and is open 7 days a week, but its best to go in the week to avoid the weekend rush as it gets so chaotic that you can barely move. read more

Wow, what a store! Absolutely huge! Situated in the Woking Lion Retail park there is masses of parking just outside the doors. This is a large warehouse filled to the brim with every conceivable craft item. It is well laid out over two storeys, there is a lift so no need to worry about stairs if you find them difficult. All the stock is well ordered and surprisingly easy to find. There not a large range of fabrics or wool so if you are looking for something specific or a little unusual then I would go to an appropriate smaller shop. Easy to negiotate, with a feeling of space you tend to feel quite relaxed while browsing which is very nice. There are very good and so far, clean toilet facilities upstairs. There is also a comfortable seating area where the books are so you can relax while you browse. Loads of childrens craft stuff. Friendly and helpful staff. All in all a job well done, I like this store. read more

SHOPPERS BEWARE Parking Eye is photographing your car in and out of the retail park. Whilst I agree Hobby Craft is an excellent shop, the car parking is NOT. I went with a friend to visit the store for the first time and was led to believe via the internet that the car parking was free. We were in the store for approx 3hrs, which is not unusual given the size of the store. My friend was horrified to receive a fine for £50 if paid immediately going up to £80 if not. Apparently you are only allowed to park for 2hrs. We were not aware of any notices telling us this. We are both pensioners so obviously our eyesight is not as good but had a notice telling us of the parking been big enough I am sure we would have seen it. read more

Shop great, but supposedly lots of free parking a big con. Went with my daughter for big christmas shop, spent over £100, after having tea and bacon butty from van parked in car park meant we were there for over 3 hours. A week later received parking fine for £85!!!! Only allowed to park there for two hours though this was not AT ALL obvious. Will not be shopping there again, and would advise other shoppers to steer clear until Parking Eye stop their greedy money grabbing scheme. read more

this place in woking is a real aladdin's cave. lose the kids for half a day easily, often have demos, and i think they do kids parties too, but not sure. everything you need for the creative kid - and adult - and more. read more

This store is fantastic for anyone who loves crafts both young and old, there really is something for everyone!! My daughter and I have spent hours browsing the aisles looking for new items for our favourite papercrafts (card making and scrap booking). they stock many of the famous name brands including K & Co and also do many items themselves. There are 2 floors full of ideas and the staff are very helpful too. There are always special offers on and we got some great ribbon the last time we visited. They also stock items for warhammer which is my son's hobby so it isn't all girly stuff! Another advantage over shopping centres is that there is free parking here. read more
