I have political differences with Hobby Lobby, so despite its convenient location to my house, I would normally never shop here. However, I was stressed out and did not want to drive to Appleton just to buy a coloring book and some pencils (see: stressed out), so I ventured in. The store is HUGE, and has an ugly warehouse feel. They have every kind of craft item you can imagine (and some you can't), as well as a hefty dose of kitschy home decor stuff. The aisles didn't have signs that I could find, so I had to peer down each one to figure out if I was in the right neighborhood. I did find what I was looking for, though I was alarmed to see children playing with merchandise in the next aisle and eventually heard their parents prompting them to "clean up." I didn't realize this was a toy store... The kicker was that, as I approached the register, a cashier was asking her manager if she could leave, despite the fact that she was open and I was standing there with two items. She chuckled to me not to take it personally, haha, etc., but it kind of turned me off. The card reader also didn't work right, and I eventually had to slide my card the opposite way the arrows indicated. So I wouldn't usually come here, and my experience did nothing to change that. Despite loving arts, crafts, and home decor; hobby lobby is among my top 5 stores w/ worst customer service. The managers are rude and don't stick to the cardinal rule of, the customer is always right. Many times I've gone in there and seen % off sale signs on everything, but by the time I get to the counter, they say the items I've brought up are not included. This happened today, 30% off mens metal and wood decor, they had shotgun shell decorative lights directly next to the sign. After bringing the manager back to see that my mom and I weren't lying, she made up some bs excuse that it would also say lights on the sale sign as well. My response was that maybe they should be moved to where all the other decorative lights are, or holiday to avoid more confusion and what I got back was a rude no. Which brings me to my next point, why aren't all these sale in the computer? When you scan an item, at most stores the register will automatically ring it up and the sale price. Not at hobby lobby, the cashiers have to sit with the ad in front of them and go through it by hand to make sure your items qualify to be on sale. Really? In this day and age there should be no reason for confusion on sale items, but instead your left arguing with your cashier or your store manager about a poorly placed sign, because they apparently put items not on sale, by the sale items? Idk, that's what the manager told me and it makes no sense. I will NEVER go back after this last experience, even the cashiers knew we were in the right. Joann fabrics gained another customer, I only wish I could file a formal complaint with corporate. Don't waste your time on their price gimmicks, it's mostly bs to keep you coming back. You're really not saving anything as their sales are perpetual, they should just mark everything down to its proper price instead of trying to fool everyone. You really think, that we think, you've been having a "sale" on wall decor every day since you've opened? You're customers aren't stupid and deserve better then the rude managers that run the place. Not to mention, the store itself has terrible lighting that will give anyone a headache that spends too much time inside. I also don't mind typically the warehouse like feel of some stores, but this store in particular has no order to the chaos. Art stuff in the back corner, fabrics in the other, and everything else might as well have just been randomly shelved by a team of 12 year olds. This store is PACKED with fun craft and decorating stuff and I love coming to this store!! It's got to be one of the funnest stores on earth. :) But I bought two tubes of glue on one visit and the glue in one of them was thick/defective. I live in FDL and didn't want to drive all the way to the store to return the glue, so I called the Manager to see what could be done. He was very, very accommodating, friendly and understanding, and said I could return the glue anytime I was in Oshkosh when it was convenient for me without worrying about when that would be. He gave me his name and told me to use it if there was any problem. FINALLY, a company who cares about its customers!!! That seems so rare these days. I love everything about Hobby Lobby and I'm so happy they recently opened a brand new store in Fond du Lac. In my experience, this is a really great company with really fun products that they stand behind. Thanks Hobby Lobby! read more

I needed to help my daughter find some crafting supplies to make something for my husband's Birthday the other day. First time in months we had been in this store in awhile. Now, I understand we are to Social Distance right now. BUT I felt like this Employee was very rude to quickly walk away, with no response of "Mam, I'm willing to help, I just want to stand over here." Instead speeds to the other end of the aisle as I am talking! How rude! I wont be returning cause obviously these Employees overreact to the Covid-19 virus, and uses that to walk away from their customers. The craft we made turned out great though. read more

Keeping religious and political beliefs out of this (considering i'm not religious) I still shop here and enjoy it for the most part. Wide selection, large store. Somewhat easy layout, but definitely 1990's feel to overall setup/look. Doesn't look crappy, grungy or too run down. Upkeep is good overall considering how old the building is. There are so many things here and they have tons of sales frequently and that is the best time to go for what you need. Selection is key especially in fabrics. So many people/parents these's days rely on one stop shopping, problem is, one stop shopping like Walmart is usually, it's this or that and that's your choice. Hobby lobby is the place to go to find what you actually want, not because you feel forced to make a decision based on having only 2 or 3 things to choose from. My wife will go here more than I will, she can spend awhile in here, where as I feel it's the type of place where I want to look for what I came for, find it, purchase and leave. I don't feel negative or positive to this store, but neutral. Glad I got what I needed, but really don't want to stay any longer than I have to. Prices on many things are high, in my store I manage, I have some of the same items, we'll use glass canisters as an example, my store sells them about 50% cheaper for the exact same ones and we still have a 50% profit margin on them. So hobby lobby is making some serious money I guess. Service is Sub-par most of the time, I find employee's on the main floor are usually friendly and helpful, but cashiers up front are in another world. Usually out of it, spacey, they look bored and like they don't know what to do other than stand there and check people out. Not sure how Hobby Lobby trains or what they expect from their cashiers. But very little interest/initiative on the cashiers part makes for the overall bad experience here. Always check to make sure your items ring up correctly. read more
