I have yet to have a good experience in this store. Nothing is visibly marked, there are no barcodes, and the service I receive is below par. The managers seem to get off on being mean or condescending to their staff, which seems a bit upsetting, considering there are many new employees. It is poorly lit, not a single clerk asked if I needed help or even if I found everything at register, none of the registers are marked, and again- no barcodes used. All the barcodes are listed in tiny, tiny print so the poor clerks have to squint. Why? Not a fan of this place and will not be returning after this latest bad visit. Came here Monday, after a not so pleasant visit to Michael's the day prior, and when I remembered the HL also has a custom frame department - it was a no brainer. My husband and I were on the hunt for a specific size frame, which we knew would most likely need to be custom made, and while I have always had wonderful customer service in previous visits (fabric department) - I had yet to check out the framing department. After looking through the pre-made frames we worked our way over to custom framing and were almost immediately greeted by "Luke" asking if we needed any help and how could he assist. Very friendly, super helpful, and extremely informative. Luke is what so many places, pre and post covid, have lost - an employee who truly enjoys what they do - a people person. Luke made finding the right frame and explaining all the options so easy that we had no issues putting in an order right then and there. We need more Lukes in the world working alongside others. read more

Every time I go to Hobby Lobby they happen to have everything I need. The staff have always been so kind, polite and helpful. Their framing department really take their time when working a custom order. I will definitely always go back to them for all my creative needs. read more

So I liked this place until I ran into 2 rude employees this far. I can't remember one of the employees name but the second one was named Espie. Giving me an attitude all because I came back to return something from last year. She says, "this is from Spring 2021. It's Fall 2022". Ummm, ok? I told her it's just been sitting in my closet, there's a tag still attached and everything. She just looked at me like I was lying, like I used it and I'm just now returning it. We have had several art pieces framed by Hobby Lobby and are extremely happy with the results. Elizabeth in the Oceanside framed our art pieces (cloth) from Tahiti, other Tapa cloth, and of course regular framing with mats etc in custom frames. I was in need of some scenery products and other model materials for my model trains and this and they had a small selection of some stuff but it was the stuff I need to do my very first layout module for my Ho scale model trains and I bought some little cars in 1:64 scale which really helped bring more life to my module layout. Staff are very kind and welcoming to the store and helpful when you need help. The only things I would love to see more of is more model train stuff the stuff they got is a little small on selection but worth improving in my opinion. read more

Love hobby lobby! I've been to several all over the nation. I went to this one the day after Christmas to grab some items on sale for next year like I always do to take advantage of their 60%-75% saws they normally have, there was nothing left! At least that's what I was told.... I don't believe it though. I've never ever seen the shelves wiped clean of Christmas decor- normally there's repeat items for years. Love the selection of products. Customer service is in HUGE need of work. For a company which claims to be Christian based, I am surprised at the rudeness and lack of desire to help give guidance and common courtesy. My biggest pet peeve is isles are always blocked with boxes and carts during store hours to stock shelves. They are so blocked you can't even get down the isles to shop. I have encountered a CSM at the Sam Marco store who is so rude, when I see her working, I will leave and shop somewhere else. I also am disappointed that the company took away the 40% off coupons. First impressions: - This is a huge arts and crafts store with endless supplies and decoration for all project needs, as well as for your home. - Reasonably priced if you find the items on sale/clearance items. - No competitor coupons are accepted here but you can find Hobby Lobby coupons over the internet. - Old fashion checkout - there are no barcodes on anything. Everything is marked or tagged and entered in the cashier manually. - The check out line and return line were extremely long both times I have visited. Unfortunately this will be my first and last time shopping here or any Hobby Lobby for that matter. I went in to purchase home decor and asked for assistance on a price check. I was told if the item is marked down, then its marked down - if not, it's not... even though the entire aisle was marked down except a few items. Annoyed but continued to shop. Ended up liking a couple items and drove to another Hobby Lobby to checkout their selection. Went home and the items I purchased, I ended up not liking how they looked so I went to return them all except 1 item a few days later. Upon returning, I was told on 1 of the clearance items I purchased will have to be returned back to the original store purchased. In the Hobby Lobby policy, no where states that on the policy or website so I requested to speak to a manager. Assistant manager honored the return but also verbally told me they don't accept returns from another location.. until then, there is no official policy from Hobby Lobby so returns can/should be available from anywhere! Final verdict, I ended up finding better quality home decor items at Home Goods with much nicer customer service all around. read more

Every time I come to this store I leave upset. Why is that? I enjoy shopping and spending money. Oh I know! It's the RUDE manager. The store was busy and many people in line waiting to check out. The lady being checked out first had a lot of stuff. At least 25 plates and she wanted them wrapped individually. It was time consuming. The line was getting longer and people started to complain. The manager just stood there. Stood there with a grumpy look on her face. How about helping the poor girl wrap up plates????????????? How about do something! I can't believe you get paid to do nothing but stand there. I will drive the extra 10-15 miles to never go to this store again. I could not imagine working for her. They finally opened another register. The girl working it was new. She needed a lot of help. The RUDE manager didn't even want to help her. Kept walking away and leaving us all waiting for her to come back to help with the next question. How about do your job and stand there and help her! The entire store is now waiting on a new employee who doesn't know what she's doing and the other register wrapping plates. And the manager doing nothing but standing there. Ridiculous! read more

I love Hobby Lobby. I was super excited to have one near me!!! Everything about that opinion just changed!!! I asked team member Margie where I could find paper mache'. She gave me a couple guesses, including paper crafts?? But never bothered to ask someone else. She was with another associate who's guess was no better. I was told there are associates in each department that can help me. But if I don't know which department how can I get there??? I witnessed a customer who was reaching for something knock over SEVERAL glass items. It was a total domino effect because the displays are packed so full that you can't touch one thing without an aisle falling over! The cash registers - OMG!!!! Cashiers are not scanning items by SKU. They hand key prices, by department-not by item. And they have to check a sale flyer for every single item to see if it's on sale!!! Are you joking?????????? Joking! I purchased 8 wooden dowels, 35 2 oz bottles of paint, and an Ott light among other things. It took me the better part of 20 minutes to complete the transaction because every item had to be confirmed, with the sales flyer. The cashier double charged me for something (at least she was paying enough attention to count the items she rang against the number of items bagged... most cashiers will not be so aware) but without an item code, she had to go through the entire transaction to see which item was double charged. Then, 35 bottles of paint all got rung up at regular price - even though the entire paint aisle was signed at 30% off. Had to call a manager over to confirm it was on sale, and make the correction on the cash register. Then finally, when I thought the torture was about to end, i signed for my receipt. And THEN noticed that the Ott Light was rung up at full price, $44.99, instead of the sale price of $21.48. I had to wait for the manager (who was Margie - the one who doesn't know where paper mache is!) to come over to return the Ott light, then re ring it at the correct price, wherein I had to get my credit card back out of my wallet and wait for another transaction and sign for the return/correct price --- all while the line behind me continued to grow and grow and grow... For returns - it's literally going to be a disaster because who knows what's what on your receipt? There is no item description, just a price. Come on Hobby Lobby - even Dollar Store uses bar codes and scanners. This is an EPIC FAIL. Oh - I also had several questions at the custom framing department... it is unfortunate that you do not accept competitors coupons because your competitors accept yours... This visit is a D- grade. The saving grace was the front row parking spot, where I am still sitting to write this review because it was such a bad idea to quit scanning items at the register. No way to be quick and efficient. Why oh why have you opted to go back to 1980 with all the technology available???? OH- but for the return on the mis-rung light, the receipt was scanned!!!!! YOU MEAN YOU HAVE SCANNERS AND AREN'T USING THEM??? I pray for all your associates!!! I pray you do the right thing. Or your business is gonna crash over the holidays! Efficiency is the only way. I asked how on earth do you do inventory? And how do you know where your losses are?? I was told that the department heads are so familiar with their departments that they can tell what's missing. Although I like shopping at Hobby Lobby in San Marcos the new store in Oceanside needs help with customer service. Having one register open and standing in line for 25 minutes to do a return and 2 associates standing around not even acknowledging the line of 12 customers is not acceptable. read more

The worst Hobby Lobby I have been in. If you have never been to Hobby Lobby, don't let this deter you from going to Hobby Lobby. Just do not go to this specific location. San Marcos and Temecula's locations are more accurate to what a true HL is like. This store specifically has a horrible layout. You cannot navigate the store. The staff really does not know the merchandise and cannot direct you. Things aren't organized effectively. You find yourself going back and forth to different areas and the ramps from one area to the next has a awful flow. I absolutely LOVE Hobby Lobby, I just rather take the drive elsewhere. To the person who wrote the review regarding being close on Sundays...because it is a Christian based store. It is closed on Sunday due to the CEO Green Christian belief who wants Sunday to be day of worship, a day where people can relax and spend their day with their family and a relaxing and holiday time for their employees. read more

Love the store but hate the lines at the registers. And the check out process is so slow! So many buttons for the cashier to push on the computer screen for each item! And they have to manually check for sale items which is unbelievable in this day and age. Who implemented that kind of POS system for such a large warehouse type store? Whoever it is, they need to have a talk with the IT folks at Costco. There may be lines at Costco but they sure process the people through very quickly. read more

I had just purchased some fine art and needed to get them framed. A friend recommended Hobby Lobby for better prices and service. They were very professional and answered all of my questions. They even problem solved a difficult problem in that the letter of authenticity was glued to the back of the frame board and needed to remain visible. This was resolved by using an acrylic backing. What was especially great was that they kept in contact with me, keeping me updated on necessary changes that needed to be made so the integrity of the artwork would remain unharmed and in perfect condition. Some of my friends thought I was crazy for leaving such expensive artwork there. But I was never worried. The whole framing department is highly qualified and they have great respect for the artwork. I would recommend Hobby Lobby framing department to anyone that wants a job well done and your artwork taken care of with the white glove treatment. By the way, the artwork that I brought in was a Renoir and a Rembrandt. read more

Came in the store to return wire that I didn't end up using. The cashier looked at the wire and said the package had been opened and been used. She then turns to her manager who also says they can't return it for the same reason. I proceeded to explain to them that I had never used the wire and did not open any of the packaging. They kept insisting that I had ripped off the plastic wrapper when in fact all the wire in that section of the store comes packaged in that way. Both the cashier and the manager had a nasty attitude and spoke condescendingly. It wasn't until the manager asked one of the employees from that department of the store if they come packaged that way. She proceeded to say that they in fact do come packaged that way. Making them both look like complete utter idiots. The cashier went ahead and made the return while the manager gave an unenthusiastic apology. During my visit today, 3 employees were not wearing masks around customers both inside the store and outside while retrieving shopping carts from the area directly outside the front door, and employees did nothing to confront the 3 customers I saw not wearing any sort of mask or face shield. Their store has a lot of decorating ideas. We had trouble attaching the picture frame bracket so the manager returned the damaged frame for another one. Elizabeth in the custom frame department installed the brackets on both frames without charging us in a matter of minutes. read more

Mixed feelings about this hobby lobby. I've never been to a Hobby Lobby so I was really excited to go for the first time. I was shopping for some particular Christmas presents and hobby lobby popped up in my google search. When I called the employee implied that I should come another day because they closed in an hour. Ignoring the fact, I continued asking questions and the same employee answered 80% of my questions with "I'm not sure, you can check". I'm guessing this employee was new or just had a really long day hence the 3 stars. All in all this is a pretty cool store just could use some more experienced or more knowledgeable customer service/employees . Everything is kind of mixed around and some of the products look somewhat used. I'm still curious about what this store is all about. Hopefully this was just a one time experience. read more

Upon reading prior reviews i was hesitant to shop at this hobby lobby. They actually have a very large selection here, I came in looking for Christmas decor and was pleasantly surprised to find a large number of staff filling up the shelves. They also had multiple registers open, and an employee guiding customers to open registers or less filled registers to keep the traffic moving. read more
