'I can make your hair look longer'...
Listen out for this statement by the owner of Hobbs. He said this to me. Being a qualified hair stylist, I know this to be an impossibility.
Poor SERVICE
I didn't get a shampoo (!) because the owner knew I had washed my hair the day before and he said it was clean and fresh! A shampooist wet my hair and conditioned it quickly.
I didn't get a thorough consultation. Except the owner (my hair stylist) showed me an inch off is what I'll be paying for. I've got long hair so that was okay.
He left me sitting in the chair 3 times, while he made a call on his mobile, answered the phone and and had a long chat with a customer about small talk.
Very poor RESULT:
I paid £65 for having about 4-5 inches off my hair - much more than was agreed.
My hair was not straight (even). The hair on my left was longer than on the right. The front sides were not blended in to the rest of my hair (a basic mistake) and it was not equally balanced generally between the left and right. Basically, a good hair cut will be the same each side. Unless agreed to have something asymmetrical.
My fringe was terrible. The owner cut my fringe wet. All good hairdressers know, the fringe is cut last when it is dry and blow dried or straightened. I paid for a fringe which went beyond the area where it should stop.
I got a hair cut which looked terrible. I was very upset because I had a hair cut by the owner and paid 65 for a cut which had many faults. It was so bad that I was wishing the months away so that I could get my hair cut again.
I can't straighten my hair yet, because it shows my left is longer than the right and I have to style my fringe so that it isn't straight. Nothing looks right about it.
When you ask for a hair cut, make sure you say, the most important thing to you is that it is balanced and precise. Accurate is another word they understand. The stylist will know what you mean. If a stylist begins to cut your fringe wet. Insist they cut your fringe dry after it has been blow dried. Hair is longer wet and hair will sit in a different shape dry.
I do not recommend Hobbs. Although, I did notice a good stylist in the salon. Unfortunately, the owner is better at chatting and creating a good bond with you. In reality, my experience proved the owner is not a good hairdresser at all.
