The salon has a fun 90's vibe (they often host free styling nights with Dutty Girl) and they aren't afraid of an edgy cut or serious colour transformation. Friendly hairdresser? Tick. Head massage? Tick. Boring conversation? Tick. The hairdresser seemed like she understood exactly what I wanted and started snipping away. On arrival, the staff were pleasant and the experience was nice however mid way through my hair cut, a member of staff (who was being quite rude on the phone to someone) came off the phone and said across the salon in a very derogatory tone "wanting a Chinese discount" which was repeated by a second member of staff. I'm assuming this means they are generalising that all Chinese people are after a discount. Saying this is bad enough but across the whole salon when you have a client sitting right in the middle - who is Chinese - and who hasn't even batted an eyelid at paying the second highest rate for a cut at the salon is quite frankly embarrassing. I really hope you learn some tolerance and humility.

They made me feel well at ease and spent the next almost 2 hours colouring and cutting my hair. The hairdresser explained what she was doing and asked me questions to make sure everything was to my liking. The final result was excellent and I was very happy I took the chance and went to them. It was all reasonably priced too! I would probably still go to Bauhaus, but I now live on the opposite side of Bristol and have found somewhere closer to my home. As you may've guessed, this place is run by trainee hairdressers who are assisted by professionals in cutting clients' hair. So although you are essentially a guinea pig, in-the-know professionals are always at hand to help out if necessary. However, my many appointments at this place have always resulted in total satisfaction on my part. Sittings are during term time only, at 9.30am or 1.30pm from Monday to Thursday.

This is definitely the most I've ever payed for a basic chop but it was conducted with the utmost precision. Staff were friendly and conversation flowed relatively smoothly throughout the duration of the cut. If you're looking for a more reasonbly priced salon, however, I'd recommend you head to Domini Hair on adjoining North Street.
