Poor conditions, uniformed staff, way out of the way, and not challenging. I played here twice, the first and the last.

The course has an interesting layout - that was a bit easier the second day once we gained some local knowledge. Don and his staff were wonderful to work with- very accommodating with tee times and post-round socializing. Also the pro shop has a wide selection of women's golf garb and gifts - a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend Golden Eagle for an afternoon or weekend of great golf and service.

Fairways and greens are in good shape. Bunkers no so much. I am a beginner golfer so no complains there. I hate hitting off bunkers anyways. Some of the holes can be pretty hard for high handicappers. Narrow fairways and lots of tees. You have to keep em straight. Some of the holes are so beautiful. Especially hole 9 and hole 18. They have some water hazard as well. They also have a driving range. I think they can do better by reducing tee time prices to attract more customers. Piankatank is a better course for the same price. By lowering price they may get more people to play. That's the only reason I am giving them 4 stars. Food is great here. They have a decent restroom with shower.

This is a very fun course to play. I always enjoy my time because this course has lots to offer…read more Clubhouse: Nothing extravagant. It's not so high end you feel out of place but it's certainly better than a city course. Friendly staff. There's a nice bar/restaurant. The pro shop sells lots of pretty things. Driving range: You get to hit off of grass. It's an open field so target practice become difficult. When the space is wide open, every shot appears to be a good shot even if it's off several yards. Golf course: - Tee boxes and fairways - these are always in great condition - Greens - these are soft (so if you spin the ball these are your friends), roll about a 9/10 on the stimpmeter, and you get a fair amount of undulation - Bunkers - I was in them a lot today and all had ample amounts of sand - Course layout - Again, this golf course is fun to play. It doesn't play overly difficult despite playing a little bit of up and down hills. Intermediate and experienced golfers would enjoy this course. Also, it's not one of those courses where you can lose a lot of golf balls. Errant shots can easily be found. Overall, a golf course I wouldn't mind going back to whether it's a tournament or to hang with my golf squad. I've been going to this place since 1999. I plan to continue playing this course at least once a year. We played today for only $29/person. That's a steal!

He said it should only take 15 minutes per hole and I said yeah if you didn't have 300 golfers out on the front nine so that was a very expensive lesson and I wish I had the hour and a half back out of my life, please take heed don't waste your money and time they've been doing this forever and haven't learned their lesson.

The tasting room is spacious and comfortable, with tables and couches perfect for relaxing with friends. There's also a charming gift shop, along with a selection of cheeses and snacks available for purchase. Cons:I tried the five-red tasting for $12, but none of the wines were especially memorable. The pours were inconsistent, with some wines served as one sip, some two, and others three. The cheeses for purchase are pricey, with 4 oz costing $13. The most significant issue was the wine glasses--each sip had a strong odor reminiscent of dirty sponge water, indicating that their glass-cleaning process needs major improvement. Overall: A charming vineyard with rich history and a comfortable tasting space, but the wines didn't impress and snacks are pricey. Great for the atmosphere, less so for the tasting. Based on this experience, I rate this establishment a 2.5 out of 5.
