On my recent stop here, I regarded the attractive lady behind the counter, and thought to myself: "she's lost that loving feeling." So I walked right up to her, and, so as to revive her spirits, I stated, "You can be my wingman anytime." She smiled, and said, "Bull$#%+... you can be mine." Mrs. Picante didn't approve, but she knows the game when you visit a Maverik gas station. And she knows me. So I told my bride, "It's time for the big one." She asked, "You up for this one, Maverick?" "Just a walk in the park, Kazansky!" I exclaimed... and filled up one of their 44 oz. super jumbo cups with ice and Dr. Pepper. I spilled a little and noticed the floor was slippery. I told Mrs. to watch her step. Wifey said, "that's right Ice-- man. I am dangerous." Awesome. Walking back out to the car, I stopped a random stranger with Wisconsin plates and told him, "you're not going to be happy unless you're going Mach 2 with your hair on fire." He laughed out loud and said with a thick Wiscaansaan accent, "I like that in a pilot!" Coulda sworn it was Viper himself. Anyway, I got into my cockpit, made sure my RIO was onboard, and requested a fly by of the store as we pulled out with the trailer. Negative, Ghostrider, the pattern was full... but we did it anyway. The TP won't fit in the dispenser so they set it on top of the slanted TP dispenser, where the half roll slides off and onto the floor. If this is a corporate thing to increase profits, boycott Maverick. If this is a franchise thing, corporate, get your people out here and bring this crap to a halt! This is hurting your brand! It was much appreciated as we stopped here for a bathroom break towards the end of a 9 day road trip and were very tired of being on the road. The store has some great murals on the walls, the bathrooms are nicer than the bathroom in my house, and the food seemed very fresh. tONS of options for food and other road trip necessities. While buying…read morealcohol, I showed my ID (as usually), but this time the employee asked me what my birthday was. After rattling it off, I asked her why and she said I don't look like the photo on my ID. I know I've gained about 20(ish) pounds since that photo (and quit over plucking my eyebrows), but ouch :( That didn't help my insecurities. My daughter is done with horseback riding lessons in that area, so that's probably the last time I'll visit this gas station. My usual experience is great though! The ladies working there are super nice and always make me laugh. I'm usually able to find what I'm looking for and I'm able to get in and out pretty quick. I'm never having to wait on a cashier because they are always ready.
