Stay away! Stay far, far, far away! I wish I had looked up their reviews before ordering anything. They have a garbage rating for a reason. I ordered a replacement backrest for my rollator, picked the one they said was correct for my specific model. It arrived quickly, but it turned out it didn't fit my walker at all; two inches too short on the ends, with knobs too wide to fit through the corresponding holes in the rollator. This was annoying enough, but the real nonsense started when I tried to return it. Turns out no living human ever answers their phone, their chat bot is a joke, and the link on their Returns page will only dump you onto an error page stating, "Page Not Found". Emailing is useless. I've tried twice and no one has replied to me. So, now I'm stuck with a backrest I can't use and no way to return it. Oh, and the cherry on top: If I ever do get someone to get back to me with return info (not holding my breath for that), I'll be required to pay a 15% restocking fee! Yes, for an item that does not fit because they advertised it incorrectly. Pay attention to all these bad reviews. HME got them the old fashioned way: They EARNED them. read more

Zero stars. The only people who have treated me with less respect were the gang that mugged me in the streets when I was a teen. This company is criminal. They bill my high deductible HSA for orders I didn't make after I dropped them for a different DME. These people jacked me around for almost two years. Never did they fulfill an order in under two months. They chargers me multiple times for a single order, refused to let me reorder when the time came. One order was fulfilled 4 months after ordering. They attempted to get me to pay for repairs on an until that was actually under warrant. They once void my Dr prescription claiming they tried to call me and couldn't get ahold of me. I wish there was a negative star...like a minus 10 for this company. What a joke. Back in March they delivered oxygen 24 hours after they were supposed to and left it without a regulator. NO WAY TO USE ! Multiple calls resulted in nothing. Now my dad's cPAP stopped working (paid it off two years ago) and it has been two weeks without anyone coming to assess, bring loaner, etc. I have called more times than I care to count. This is the most unreliable and poorly run business in the State of New Mexico. They don't even deserve the one star. I rented a hospital bed for a knee replacement surgery. The bed showed up two days late. After two weeks I was able to climb the stairs and wished to return the bed. To date I have made 7 phone calls to get the bed picked up. Every time I'm told I'm "on the list for today, somebody will call me." I have not received one phone call and nobody has shown up. I have no doubt they will try to charge me for another month and I WILL NIT PAY!!!!!!!! I even called to tell them this as every time you call you are told the calls are recorded. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IN ALBUQUERQUE. I spent 10 days in hospital including ICU With a blood clot in my lungs. Upon discharge from the hospital, I required an oxygen concentrator and portable tanks to breathe. My doctor sent my prescription to this place for the necessary equipment. I made 7phone calls, 4 with the main office(not located in ABQ telling me they would be calling me from the warehouse located in ABQ. NEVER HAPPENED. I trusted them to get this equipment to me. I waited until my oxygen level was seriously low and was considering a trip back to the hospital . I was hospitalized. When discharged both the attending physician and my pulmonologist ordered oxygen from two different companies.One of them was hme, we decided to go with the other company and the same day called HME and asked them to come pick up the oxygen supplies they had delivered. They said they couldn't come back that day.And came a few days later. Although I never used their oxygen or supplies, I started receiving bills from HME and now i'm receiving bills which include late fees. The employee who delivered our equipment could not have been better. He was very informative, polite and knowledgeable. I hopre this company knows how fortunate they are to have him as an employee. Billed 900.00 for my oxygen machine after I turned 65 and in-between Medicare and medicaid coverage. In 5 years they charged my insurance 175.00 a .month, equaling over 10,000 dollars. Now they are billing me 900.00 for lapsed coverage. Corrupt. Crule and deliberate. I have to pay or it goes to collection. 175.00 a month or 5 months. Why did they wait 5 months to bill me? This may be the worst company I have ever dealt with. 6 weeks to review a prescription for medical equipment/supplies. Then they find "irregularities" in the prescription or insufficient medical documentation, but they refuse to tell you what the problem is. Lack of complete communications. Refuse to respond to emails to answer questions. Billing practices not clear. They tell you they've called the doctor to "work things out" and the doctor's office never heard from them at all. HME can't deliver equipment, customer service is horrible, their billing dept sent invoices to collections that I had not seen. I worked with their portal and on the phone. I was told the person who worked with me on the phone wasn't trained. I don't work for HME and I'm suppose to know what I don't know. Can't rely on HME TO get anything right. Buyer beware. There are better suppliers than HME. Unless you want items sent to collections that you've never seen, or don't want equipment delivered or calls returned deal with HME. Gave my mother a new portable oxygen WITHOUT a battery (why does a new portable come minus a battery?). The associate told us that he would put in a order for a battery and let HME know, and they would call us when the new battery was ready. Now call from them. We called on Saturday, and they told us the guys that deliver the equipment are off on the weekend, so now battery. What I don't understand is that they have a physical location, yet they are closed! My mother is housebound without her portable, missing Church, hair appointments, etc. They just don't seem to care about their customers! read more

HME is the worst! It's obvious they care ONLY about the Medicare billings with the lack of customer service. 1st Issue: My mother's concentrator was EXTEMELY and ANNOYINGLY loud; we couldn't hear her over the noise, and she couldn't sleep. She jury rigged a system of portable Imogen concentrators to allow her to go through the day which was not sufficient for her needs. Her friend advised to get the new quieter model concentrator just received (friend was using with success). They told me they would only exchange it if broken or a doctor's note. Obtained the Doctor's note requesting a new concentrator and had to argue for FIVE days two times daily to get the concentrator delivered only to have the actual delivery man refuse to give it to my adult daughter and mother when he got to her home (and again arguing with me over the phone). Adding insult to injury, I now need them to pick up the original concentrator, and they don't give enough notice for anyone to arrive to give them the equipment, and no call back to reschedule. I called again to reschedule and was told they would be here yesterday; I stayed home the entire day, and the equipment spent the night with me. I just hung up with them again. We shall see if they take the junk back. Note: the normal delivery person for my mother was a young man who was kind and empathetic. I wish I knew his name as he was the only bright light dealing with this company. read more

Several months ago, I was referred to HME Specialists from my sleep study company for a new CPAP Machine and all the associated equipment and supplies. The HME representatives never scheduled an appointment with me for a fitting of the mask. I did request a specific mask type that I had purchased prior for my old CPAP Machine from an on line company. HME specialists never met with me for a mask fitting. I started to develop a major mouth sore as the mask was to tight. I also tried the option to loosen the straps. However, after loosening the straps, the air leaked out of the mask and I was snoring. Then I requested a larger size mask. My mouth sore started to turn into a major infection. I now have to sleep without the mask. Because, I never was personally scene by HME, I called up my insurance company (BCBS). They reached out to HME and they would not schedule a time to meet with me until December. So, at this point, I am trying to sleep upright on a sofa to prevent breathing gaps. Also, my insurance coverage is jeopardized because my sleeping is not being recorded. Risks to my health and my insurance financial responsibility are now taking place. HME only reaches out when they have a check list of requirements to meet. HME Specialists is an awful company that does not care about my health. read more

Despite having proof of insurance payment, they continue to pursue collection. Their billing department is unresponsive to evidence and documentation. It is not possible to encounter a business with worse service. Out of several medical equipment/supply companies used by BCBS, this is the only one that carries the supplies I need. I am trapped in an ongoing nightmare. Every process is broken in some way. Cannot get supplies in a consistent, timely manner. Billing is often 5-6 months behind and quoted copays for same item may change monthly. Currently on the phone getting the runaround for supplies that "are being processed" --the status for the last two weeks. I am leaving town within 4 days so I need to receive them within the next 3 days even though they have not yet been shipped. Customer service rep has no suggestions as to what I should do if they are not received. They should not be allowed to receive Medicare funds and perhaps a complaint to CMS can help expedite this. read more

This way they can charge you for another month even if you are not using the equipment. The billing department is constantly using the wrong insurance codes resulting in double bills in one month. VERY poor communication. Not one person I have spoke with can provide an answer and no one knows how to answer simple questions. From day one I was given the wrong oxygen tank for my newborn daughter. drivers show up before scheduled time and don't call before arrival. no one showed up for a pickup yesterday and there was no communication. called after hours to see when they will come and she said she just answers the calls for emergencies after hours and cant answer my question. I saw errors and called the next day to correct, all she could do was 'make a note' and the error was not corrected! Across the entire company, the quality is so poor I can't imagine why anyone not stuck with them, would do business with them. I can recite many stories about them, but this one is for the books. So I finally get my non functioning CPAP machine into for service. It won't even turn on, OBTW it has taken nearly two weeks to get to this point. So the guy to check it in askes me what's wrong with it, I say it's broken, it won;t turn on, OBTW it's the second occurance of the problem. He plugs it in, it displays an error message, and it won't turn on. He says it isn't broken it is something else I can't remember. If I did the same thing at BestBuy, for instance, they would have given me a receipt and told me they would let me know what I need to do next. So he'll mail me a receipt for dropping it off. A while later, they did send me a receipt foe taking it in, PDF receipt, password protected, well that is useful. If you don't need to do business with these incompetents, don't. OBTW, this is a medical device that is helping to keep me alive and healthy, it isn't a VCR. I'd be better of if it was a VCR, Another thing, they have no "loaners". If I could give HME Specialists a negative star I would. As a healthcare professional and patient I have never dealt with such an inept DME supplier. For 9 days now they have held my DME prescription hostage while providing me a different reason every time I call as to why they haven't filled the order. They argued with me that they are in network with BCBSTX when BCBSTX says they aren't and blamed the doctor for not being in network with BCBSTX as the reason why they couldn't provide my DME. BCBSTX confirmed the doctor is in network. As well, all prior authorizations have been approved. The straw that broke the camels back was when they told me I couldn't pay cash for the DME because I have insurance. Mind you, insurance that denied their billing claim. If you like dealing with incompetent companies HME Specialists is your best choice for DME. They will deliver endless excuses while you go without your DME. read more

When my insurance co. tried to reach them, they said they 'couldn't wait that long' when contacting them as an insurer. This company switches you from dept. to dept. rather than helping you. Do they only have 1 person in each dept? I ordered supplies and had to wait 3 weeks (and many calls) before arrival. Other companies can get you supplies within days. This place should be shut down. Myself, a complex corporator, and the doctor I've been unable to make leeway with this godforsaken business. We're supposed to have my products for my daughter on Wednesday, it's Friday and they still haven't called me to touch base. I had just got off the phone with them and they told me that they don't even have an order and the doctor needs to resubmit a prescription! Why the hell would my doctor need to resubmit a prescription for my daughter if they have one on file. They have absolutely no idea what they're doing.
