Ghetto fabulous. Instantly you're transported to Vietnam when you walk in here. It's all decked out in bamboo furniture and adorned with their much loved plastic florals. And fake grass floors the entire dining area. It was a pretty cool place to sit in! We came here when it was ~30 degrees. They didn't turn on their air con and despite all their windows being open it was hot as. Sought relief with a glass of cafe sua da which I'm pleased to say was delicious.
As per precious reviewer, you will be floored when you look at the menu and find that congee is $2.99. And yes it is of decent serving size. Ridic cheap. I recall menu items 1-9 are all congees just with different choice of topping (century egg, fish, etc).
We went for a share bowl of congee, tofu vermicelli salad and grilled beef vermicelli salad. When they bought out both vermicelli salads they were presented differently, also with different dressing, wasn't sure why and it can't be because the tofu dish was "vegetarian" cos it also came out with prawns and boiled pork slices. Nevertheless all tasted nice, I wish though they had more sauce condiments on the table for us to season and not just salt, pepper, and ground chilli.
I must add that they serve all their dishes and drinks in bamboo mats/trays. A nice touch and definitely trying to make themselves stand out. read more
