But it's horses for courses I suppose. In a town like Morecambe the range of shops is what you would expect - Greggs, Mark One, Tesco, Boots, Iceland, Superdrug, Timpsons to name a few. This isn't somewhere you would go for a quality shopping experience. but it seems to serve the community quite well and is always bustling. There are cheapy card shops, cheap shoe shops, cheap clothes shops. And by cheap I mean market stall quality. But if you're looking for basic shopping and you're in the area then it serves its purpose. However I would always recommend jumping on a bus and shopping in Lancaster, purely because the choice and the quality is that much greater.

This is Morecambe's only shopping Centre, but for fresh fruit and veg I tend to prefer Yorkshire Street better. The Tescos has been revamped though and it is a great little shop for all the neccessities. Shops have came and went over the years, but they now include a Greggs, New look, Mark One, Iceland and a Claire's accessories. The selection of shops could be better but for Morecambe it is a good little place to shop. There is a pay and display car park very close by and the Library is just behind it. The centre is always very clean and there are benches down the middle to have a rest.

The prices are slightly more than Asda or Aldi but better in some respects than Sainsburys or other supermarkets. Food is fresh and a longer sell by date than those equivalent meat, fish or fruit and veg perishable goods at ASDA. In terms of overall experience, this is best for special occasion shopping such As Christmas, Parties, or large varied non normal shops as well as regular shopping. You pay slightly more but the quality is there.

Morrisons offers brilliant value for money to my mind and the quality and range isn't bad either. Their fresh fish counter is the best of any of the local supermarkets - check it out. The fish always looks super fresh. I also love their pie counter - well I'm a northern lass, of course I love the pie counter! And the instore bread is always good. They do a fine range of deals and I always manage to pick something up on BOGOF And the cafe is great. Waits for tables and food can be long but that's because, for the price, it's worth hanging around.

I was'nt hopeful as it didnt look the type of shop that would have shoes for kids ( loads of adult designer) I got a surprise school shoes, party shoes, sandals, boots, wellies and crocs and a big sale rack. A sales assistant measured my daughter's feet and then spent the best part of an hour sorting us out, she made sure the shoes we ended up with fitted perfectly and much to my little girls delight gave her sparkly purse when we paid for being such a good girl for such a long time. The shoes were not cheap at £30 (Hush puppies) but similar price to Clarkes with much better service. We also got a pretty pair in the sale range hush puppies again but at 75% off and the same fitting service as the full price pair what a bargain. I am definatly using this shop againit may not be local to me but well worth the trip as I feel good shoes are important whilst little feet are growing. We like Morecambe for a day out or weekend break so thats a plus as well.
