We brought in a rod and he set my son up with bait, the right hooks, sinker and some kind of set up in the line and told us where to go for fishing and crabbing. It turned out the line my son had on his rod was dry rotted and we lost the line. We then went back a second time got it relined and new hook and set up on it and back we went.

Upon arriving at my dock, I called and said this isn't right. This motor is way under powered for this boat. The only option offered was to return the boat. But I had a number of friends and family already lined up for a ride. Not going back to Dads. Beware of false advertising.

This was my very first fishing charter, so I was really excited for some deep-sea fishing--and Starfish Boats definitely lived up to the reviews I had read beforehand. The mate, Anthony, was the star of the show. He works for tips, and you should absolutely tip him because he is your best friend out there. From the moment we got on the boat, he was helping with everything--setting up the poles, putting the bait on for the first cast, walking around checking in on everyone, and jumping in whenever someone needed help. He made the whole experience so much easier and way more fun. At one point, I hooked something really big--probably a shark--but my rod couldn't handle it. Anthony quickly cut the line, set me up with a new pole, and got me right back to fishing. I ended up catching a little baby bluefish. My friend didn't catch anything this time, but plenty of people around us were reeling things in: bluefish, flounder, and even baby sharks. So you're definitely going to catch something out here! The trip itself was well-organized: about an hour ride out to the fishing spot, then we moved three or four times to drop lines before the hour ride back, giving us roughly two solid hours of fishing. Everything ran smoothly. The only downside for me was the number of people on the boat and some kids running around who clearly weren't into fishing--it got a little distracting. But I get it, families want to bring their kids along for the experience. Next time I might try a trip with fewer people for a quieter vibe. Overall, I give Starfish Boats five stars. The DJ was playing patriotic music throughout the fireworks. They were giving out free pretzels and sodas were free as well. Everyone was very friendly and we really enjoyed the few hours we were out on the boat. Would definitely take another trip with this company in the future.

He was told we had plenty of bait, crab traps and fishing poles, he continued to berate my entire family as if we wouldn't abide by the rules of the boat. Ultimately he started cursing and telling us our trip is canceled and walked away. ABSOLUTELY WORST customer service I've ever experienced. I wouldn't recommend this place on my enemy.
