Long story short, we ended up at the Rocksprings airport at two in the morning with rain approaching, no ground transportation, and nowhere to sleep. Called the other place in town, no answer. Called Sorrell's Inn, and the owner's granddaughter was soon on her way to pick us up. The airport is only five miles out of town, but hey, it was 2AM. The price was right for the accommodations and we were able to get some rest before continuing on our journey. Bottom line, we avoided a miserable, sleepless night thanks to the kindness of the owner and his granddaughter. They didn't have to help us out, but they did, and I think that speaks volumes about the kind of people they are. Long ago my family ran a similar establishment that was also highly reliant on seasonal visitors as is Sorrell's Inn. It can be a tough business but these people clearly haven't let it bring down their spirits.

The front porch/balcony was the perfect place to read, watch the sunrise, and enjoy the birds. The "backyard" had a gorgeous view of the hills and had a picnic table, campfire, and bbq to make dinner and s'mores watch the sunset. The cabin itself was stocked with everything you need from kitchen utensils to coffee to extra blankets. Also, the living room had tons of entertainment like board games, movies, and books. Our favorite part of every night was reading and talking in front of the fireplace. The bed was massive and comfortable with cedar walls that made the room smell so cozy. Outside, there was a small clearing where we laid and star gazed, and one night a deer ran by us! Even the road to get to this place was absolutely stunning. My only suggestions would be better lighting in the bedroom, a bigger bathroom mirror, and curtains or blinds on the front windows. But I would definitely return here--we felt safe and it was wonderful in every way.

Food was average, with only a few high priced fixed options at every meal. We stayed three nights and after the first night we were ready to venture out to somewhere else to eat. The experiences as well are high priced, we can only speak to the whiskey tasting. Four shots of whiskey and twenty minutes of someone's time for $90 a person. Not what I would call value. Rooms were "motel" style accommodations with paper thin walls. Ours had no working ac for two of the three nights we were there and electrical issues. Staff were very gracious and moved us on the last night. All in all it was just ok, nothing to write home about. Nothing stood out, except the price.

The spot that they are on in the river is absolutely stunning. The cabin we were in was peaceful and quiet. It was also just a short walk to have a beautiful view over the river and if you took a different path you could easily hop in. The back porch of the cabin was serene with bird feeders and even a humming bird feeder! There is a fire pit and a bbq pit if you feel like doing your own cooking. The cabin has all the necessary things for you to do your cooking for the entire time. I will say, prepare to be in the shower a touch longer, as the water pressure was somewhat low, but man...when water pressure is your single complaint, you know you're in heaven!!! I highly recommend this place and we will for sure stay here again. It's also reasonably priced. I advise if you're not trying to accommodate a summer schedule to go during the off season to enjoy a few less people.
