When Mr. Snarky said, "We could try the pub." I thought of the restaurants near the train…read morestation... so when we ended up here, I was pleasantly surprised. The pub was really busy... we had trouble getting in through the entrance as there were a lot of people having Christmas drinky poos. I was worried that we wouldn't be able to get a table, but they had a couple, so we lucked out! The menu is seasonal, so what we had may not be on there, but I certainly hope they consider offering the dish I had again. I ordered the seabass with mussels and prawns with a white wine sauce and couscous. Mr. Snarky had one of their specials, the Lamb and Carrot pie. It was quite loud in the place, but it definitely feels cozy... like a place only the locals go to! My dish was really lovely, although the only complaint was that the lovely sauce was only around the side of the plate, so some of the mussels had it, but the fish could have used some of the sauce. The sauce was beautiful! And Mr. Snarky's only complaint was that the pie wasn't a full pie... it was a ramekin of filling with pastry on top. Forget the campaign for real ale, we need the campaign for real pie! We did indulge in dessert... and we were so predictable. Me with the Sticky Toffee Pudding with ice cream and Mr. Snarky with the cheesecake. Although he did ask if the crumble came with custard and because it did not, he chose the cheesecake. You can't have crumble without custard! Anyway, the whole dinner was really lovely and I think we agreed we would be happy to come back again.

Great little restaurant that is an oasis of loveliness in Crystal Palace…read more Numidie is a small restaurant with a basement wine/cocktail bar (more on that later!) I've been here a couple of times with my girlfriend and it has been fantastic on each occasion. On the first visit we went for the 3 course set meal and every course was amazing, especially the lobster main (their weekly special at the time). Everything was cooked perfectly, and the staff have always been very polite and attentive. The place itself is quite small (but not cramped) and it has a very nice rustic charm to it, quite dark inside but that just adds to the nice romantic atmosphere. Downstairs from the restaurant is a small wine bar that also has a very good cocktail list (most of which are potent and very tasty!) It's a perfect place to have a nice relaxing drink after your meal. Everything was reasonably priced (especially their set menus). Definitely a place I will be going to again and again.

Managed to get a late table which for this time of year was a huge positive, when we arrived the restaurant was packed, no surprise there, so they suggested we get a drink at the bar. Normally this would probably have been ok but not on NYE. If you have never been to the downstairs bar it is worth a visit, however it can get packed and as it is small getting to the bar becomes a bit of a problem, so we decided to wait upstairs where there was slightly more standing room!! We did not have to wait too long for our table and once it was wiped we were seated. Being NYE they had a set menu which had a decent selection. I was slightly disappointed as they did not have my choice of starter :( So I had to change that option but not the end of the world. For a packed restaurant surprisingly they only had two waiters, so this did slow down the service, but they did a good job considering. The food was good and the atmosphere was very good the noise from the live band downstairs was on occasion a little intrusive but I could live with it. Some people did a countdown to the new year but the restaurant staff did not as they were to busy. An enjoyable NYE meal in a restaurant I will visit again.
