Looking for good authentic Japanese food I found my way to Ogura. This small restaurant located…read moreinside a Hilton Hotel over exceeded what I planned for. The food prepared by this locale clearly is self made as they claim. The Gari and Wasabi both had a different taste from typical sushi spots. The wasabi had a more firm kick that didn't linger and the Gari was still crunchy and tasted great. We ordered two Menu 2's during the happy hour, and for the price I must say it is completely worth it going here. The sushi had a remarkable texture. The tempura sushi was still warm and fully fresh while the California rolls didn't contain cheese, but instead more fish which in my opinion tasted better than with cheese. The interior design of the restaurant is cozy, and waiting staff are vigilant and notice things. I fully enjoyed my experience at this restaurant and would gladly go again next time I find myself in Dresden. All in all a great place to get freshly prepared Japanese cuisine, for a price that I see is worth it.

I'm very surprised about the average of only three stars for all the previous reviews, although…read moreit's very laborious for me to read German and therefore I'm not going to bother reading those reviews. Anyway; we had a mid-afternoon lunch/dinner there yesterday and we were very pleased. For only *8.90 euros/person* (from 12-5 p.m.), they have an "all you can eat" arrangement. It's not a buffet because the food isn't on a table and you only take a small amount at-a-time, but it works nicely. What happens is that all of the (two-person) tables are adjacent to a sort of conveyer belt (within easy arm's reach). The food circles by the tables and it has two little sliding glass "doors" above each table. When you see something you want, you open the nearest glass "door" and take it. The refrigeration is maintained by keeping the glass "doors" closed. The selection was good, the food was delicious (I only ate sushi, but my husband also ate some of the other dishes and he said everything was really good) and the restaurant seemed quite clean. The young man who greeted us was pleasant, and he readily agreed to bring us tap water (a big issue for us in Germany, as I've previously alluded to).

After one of our friends decided not to take the buffet menu, the waitress insisted that all of us should still take the buffet menu with an even grumpier face, stating that it would be easier for them. The place was full but the service was pretty good. Sushi tasted fresh, and I'm talking from a standpoint where I live in San Francisco and have had sushi in Hawaii and other key geographies where they were close to the water and had very fresh fish. I'm very sorry to hear other people had a bad service experience as mine was excellent. I never thought to have good sushi in Dresden, Germany - since they are not known for this dish.
