Went here for the first time to get some juice drink with popping Boba. The workers here are very nice and helpful when I told them it was my first time. I ordered the strawberry juice with strawberry pops in it. The cashier told me I could get 3 toppings for free, so in addition I got the pearl and Blueberry pops too. It was almost $8. And over half of the cup had Boba in it, which was great but also a lot compared to the drink. The drink was super sweet. Their website is down so you can't see everything and it says that they're closed. The only negative thing about this place, is that they had 3 betta fish in too small enclosures. It is not humane how tiny the tanks with for each fish. They had much larger tanks for other fish, so they should do the same for the betta. read more

Visiting the Lancaster area and saw the Hippo Bubble Tea sign in the parking lot and thought how cute! Saw the reviews were 4.5 stars on average and prices relatively cheap, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered a mango smoothie, avocado smoothie, and a watermelon juice. The mango smoothie was luckily good/standard, however I should've went with my gut feeling that the avocado smoothie wouldn't actually be real blended avocados and the watermelon juice wasn't really watermelon juice. Highly disappointed but I guess I shouldn't expect real fruit at prices that low. At least the bubbles were sweet and chewy. read more

I love this place. I've tried their milk tea and regular tea. I'm not a huge milk tea person but I will say theirs is pretty good. I usually request for no sugar because often the tapioca pearls tasted sugary enough. I recently ordered the roasted oolong tea and the jasmine green tea (absolutely favorite) with no sugar in each and tapioca pearls in both. First of all, love the tapioca pearls or "the bubbles" they taste wonderful and are fun to chew on. They have this sugar syrupy coating that's delicious and really makes the tea elevated. I always order my drinks online and pick them up at the store. Sometimes it's worth doing that and sometimes not but for the last time that I got bubble tea (tonight) it was worth it. Just walked in and they had almost finished making it. My boyfriend had the honey green jasmine tea and it was really good. He also got the passion fruit POP bubbles which were very flavorful. Overall, great experience and would return. Tea was about $4 each for a medium. read more

Absolutely the most dissatisfied bubble tea I had. I've had a lot of bubble tea in my life but this was terrible. The bubble tea was watered down, no flavor, tapioca pearl was over cooked and mushy. I'm sorry but this place is not a go to for bubble tea. My niece and I ordered the black milk tea and the Thai smoothie tea. They forgot to put tapioca pearls in her bubble tea. I highly recommend going to bleu bakery for bubble tea it's better and you can adjust the ice and sugar levels in your bubble tea. It's better reasonably priced there. read more

Awesome boba balls and flavors. We drive an hour just for this boba experience...the thai tea and lavender tea are favorites of ours. The only thing is, if it is just the one lady it is very very slow. We waited about 30 minutes for our drinks tonight because she was left to handle it on her own tonight. As far as I know, Hippo is the OG boba tea shop in/around Lancaster city, and they've consistently delivered since Day 1. I like that it's independent, and I despise that once they established a customer base a franchise elbowed in, posting up a block away. I stan and stay with Hippo Bubble Tea. While it's a step up from typical bubble tea stands around Central PA usually found in mall kiosks or bought at Thai/Vietnamese restaurants, it's not near peak of the bubble tea game. Ambiance: I came in on a Sunday and it was pretty bustling with a group of friends and a few solo customers. There's pop music in the background, the game on the TV, and many smaller couches surrounding tables to play the board games they have at the front. Definitely more for play than work. It's a bit difficult to study, read, or write with the bustle and lack of appropriate height tables. I'd save a visit here to hang out with friends or to relax. On to the drinks! I ordered a Honey Milk Tea w boba, I'd give it a 3/5. Even after asking for half sweet, it was still too sugary for my liking and the tea lacked any true tea flavor. If you're looking for sweet, go here! If you want tea flavor, skip this place. Also, they don't have brown sugar milk tea. Very unfortunate, and that's one of my favorite drinks to compare across boba places. Don't think I'd come back here but I am thankful for its existence in Lancaster! read more

This is literally the best thing in Lancaster. Such a cute and cozy spot just to chill and hang out with friends. I love the fact that it's open late too. I've been back twice since my first visit. I still think there's room for improvement but the Milk Tea (Jasmine Green Tea with Milk) is very good. I tried something new last night, Taro milk tea with boba and coconut jelly. Definitely my new favorite. I've always loved Taro boba tea, but adding the coconut jelly made an amazing drink. Their Taro is less sweet and the combination with the coconut made it even better. I just wish they made their sizes a bit larger, because what I pay for a large at Hippo is about 3/4 of what a large is at other places for the same price. read more

I love Hippo Bubble Tea! The closest place I can get bubble tea from where I live is 30 minutes away, but I still prefer Hippo, even if I have to have an additional 15 minutes to the 30 minutes already. It's small but it has a good atmosphere, and bringing your friends along makes it fun because you can hang out there and play the games they provide and just sit in the lounge. I always purchase at least 2 drinks there, each visit. I think the card for drink deals also another plus. I really recommend this place :) read more
