We had very high expectations for Hip Service based on their reviews, but they exceeded them anyway. Their promo videos online show their exceptional quality, so I'll mention a couple behind the scenes things. First, Steve is great to work with logistically: proactive and super-responsive, while still being low-stress and understanding when things change. These characteristics are especially welcome in what can be stressful wedding planning, and I didn't necessarily expect such a high-powered operation to be able to take the individualized time for our event. Second, the band learned an R&B song for us that wasn't totally in its normal wheelhouse, but they totally smoked it. The band was INCREDIBLE. The second they started performing, everyone was on the dance floor, and no one sat down the rest of the night. I think out of all of the decisions we made for the wedding, this was one of the best. These guys & gals were amazing. We had a wedding of about 260 people and everyone was raving about how good the band was. The performance was 5 star and you could see that the band put their hear and soul into the performance. I will recommend to everyone and hope to hire them again! From the first dance they preformed by leon bridges to don't stop believing they had everyone dancing the entire night and everyone was sad when it ended but also exhausted from all the dancing! We just saw Hip Service close out the Creek Walk Concert series on Friday night--they were unbelievable! They did 3 full, high-energy sets and everyone was on the dance floor! The horn section, guitar, bass and vocalists are amazingly talented. The three female vocalists had a huge range of styles and sounds and were totally captivating. The male vocalist was truly incredible--he is great with the crowd and can sing everything from Van Morrison to Stevie Wonder and lots of great 70's funk hits. This band has it all! They play every great song from Lady Ga Ga, Black Eyed Peas, to Marvin Gaye, Aretha, and all the best of funky dance songs. we hired hip service's 11 piece band for our recent wedding in guerneville, CA a week ago and i have literally received emails, texts, messenger pigeon notes from every single person there telling me that it was the best dance party they have ever been to (and these people have had their fair share of dance parties). i have never seen more people getting down on a dance floor in my life. grandmas, babies, a weird townie dude who decided to crash the wedding for a little bit, tall boy in-hand... we provided them with a rough list beforehand and in addition to playing all the jams, they incorporated a few more that we had requested that weren't on their list. i literally danced for 2.5 hours straight - which my poor wedding dress can attest to as it's now completely black and torn on the bottom from all of the dancing and stomping around (was totally worth it). i want to do it all over again. thank you guys SO much for making my wedding. read more

Hip Service is the best in the business. Leading up to our wedding, they were incredible to work with - communicative, flexible, willing to learn new songs! The two and a half hours we spent dancing at our wedding was the most fun part of our whole weekend. They did not disappoint for a single song. The majority of our guests were dancing the entire time - a couple guests from our of town even came up to us and told us that they wished a band like this was closer to them. Hip Service played our wedding in Lake Tahoe and we went with them sight unseen based solely on a recommendation from our wedding planner. Needless to say we were nervous. It was one of the most important factors of our reception and in our minds it would play a huge part in whether or not our guests were going to have the great time that we wanted all of them to have. The best cover band ever! I saw Hip Service performing at a wedding at the Bohemian Club in SF. I'll admit that even at that swanky venue - I wasn't expecting a kick ass dance band. They were amazing! I became a Facebook fan as soon as I got home (cell phones frowned upon at the Bohemian Club..that's right) It's a big band with sax, trombone and trumpet, 4 or 5 singers and every song they played was great. Katy Perry, Maroon 5, EW & F, Aerosmith even James Brown for the real deal music people (some were there). The whole crowd, 25 to 75, was on the dance floor and partying! They were perfect. The best decision we made during our wedding vendor selection was to hire Hip Service to perform during our reception! Having a band is definitely an investment, but it's one that was so incredibly worth it. Steve was extremely professional and responsive throughout the planning process, and was so easy to work with. On the wedding day, everything went so smoothly (AV set up with microphones, for speeches, and ceremony sound, etc.). We also had a jazz trio during cocktail hour that was awesome. The band was AMAZING! They really know how to get everyone out dancing! We are in our late 20s so we wanted to find a band that knew some modern songs but also played the classics to get guests of all ages on the dance floor. Hip Service did just that! They were also so interactive with the guests, and didn't mind when my (HUGE) family got up on stage with them to dance and sing. Music was really important to us, and we were looking for a band that would keep the energy high, play current and classic music, and they did just that. Steve was incredibly easy to work with as we booked, we even requested a special song that was not on their (long and diverse) playlist for the mother/son dance, and the band learned it in advance for us.
