I am so sad that I was not a guest at my own wedding....because I didn't get to fully enjoy their performance!!! My husband and I got married on April 13, 2014. Our wedding was "Broadway" themed and we wanted to have an experience for our guests (not just another wedding for them to attend). Their prices are very reasonable for live entertainment at a wedding (another string quartet wanted to charge me $200 more) and they have a great mix of songs in their repertoire to choose from. We, of course, chose songs that went with our Broadway theme. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough songs for our theme but were very accommodating. We had provided them some sheet music from Les Miserables that they used to create a piece that worked for them (it came out beautiful) and they even created their own rendition of "I will Never Leave You" from Sideshow (it did cost us a little bit, but it was definitely worth it). Kit and Daniel were great at ensuring that we were informed of any modifications that were needed. I would highly recommend this string quartet to any couple that is getting married that is looking for a special touch for their wedding! read more

They played at my good friends wedding and I was very impressed by them. I noted the one star rating below, and was honestly shocked. I also was not aware (until Oliver pointed this out) that the UC system had such a poor music program as to earn the scorn of music lovers. Having graduated from UCSB and knowing many Music majors of exceptional talent I was a little offended by that. But alas, I digress...in my humble opinion everything they played at the wedding was amazing. They even had a couple of pieces that I believe they had written themselves which were wonderful. As for their demeanor; their visual presentation was 1st class and I was told by my friend that they were very accommodating as far as planning out the musical portion of the wedding. I would recommend them to anyone, and I will probably end up using them for my own wedding. read more

I am quite taken back at how poorly the Mersonacta String Quartet were rated. To be frank, I think that's just bull. I had the honors of hearing them play at the Strauss Festival at the Elk Grove park, and they were, by far, amazing. As a matter of fact, beyond imagination and I would recommend everyone to them. They are very professional and organized. I have also heard their own pieces, so they are musically talented. Whether or not the UC music program had a poor system, this group plays with their hearts and they are passionate about music. TIP: Be sure to email them about the specifics. Mersonacta played for our wedding ceremony on 12/1/12. They were fantastic. Their repertoire has a ton of contemporary work. We loved having modern music with a classic touch. We attended one of their free public auditions- I would highly recommend you do too! They went through their popular wedding repertoire and they sounded amazing. These guys were AMAZING! My wife and I wanted something for our wedding that would be memorable. We did not want a classic dj as we had no dancing. We hired Mersonacta because they played modern music on strings. They also customized our wedding song and it was beautiful. Whenever we here In my Life from the Beatles now we think of them. The entire night, our guests would listen to the song and guess what it was. It was an amazingly fun game for everybody and was perfect in the background. A few of us almost lost it when they played Game of Thrones. It definitely was not a Red Wedding. They were a highlight and extremely professional and courteous. They were worth every cent. I'm so sad I didn't have a chance to hear them more!!!! As the bride unfortunately, I only heard two songs!!! However, the two I heard.....amazing!!! My guests were completely blown away ( who had the pleasure of experiencing much more)!! Kit and Daniel are the sweetest people and so adaptable to change!!! This would be a 5 star rating, but for a big issue with our wedding. They played absolutely beautifully and so I can recommend them for that. Everyone thought they did a wonderful job... except me, the groom. We gave the quartet our music selection as requested on time picked from their listed selections so there were no special requests. Each song was chosen for a special meaning it had to my bride, me, or our families. The quartet told us we were good to go. They showed up well ahead of the wedding, which was great and began playing beautifully. However, it was not the music we had chosen. I didn't think much of it at first as I figured it was just their warm up. People were still milling about the church and the bride had not arrived. I went to let them know the timing for playing the song the mothers of the bride and groom were to light candles to (Sabbath Prayer from Fiddler on the Roof, a special song for both families). However, one of the violinists informed me AT MY WEDDING that they would not be playing that or several other if our selections because they didn't find them "appropriate". I was way too shocked to respond at that time and decided I needed to let it go for the moment and focus on the importance of the commitment I was about to make. The songs they played were beautiful, and our choices for the featured parts of the ceremony were as requested, but the remainder were not what we had requested and had no significance to us as a couple. The appropriateness of the songs had already been vetted by the Catholic priest and Protestant minister presiding. More over, if they had a problem with our selection, the quartet might have told us in advance of our wedding so we could have found a vendor willing to follow our request on our special day. Also of note is that the song they picked for the mothers to light candles to was inappropriate to our day. I am a devout Catholic and my wife is a devout Protestant. That means our guests were from both theological points of view. Without asking me, they chose to play the Ave Maria, a beautiful piece and very well played, but not appropriate for a half Protestant crowd. I would recommend this quartet's talent, but would highly recommend you insist they play the songs you paid them for for your event. read more

My best friend and I are wedding vendor shopping... and she really wanted a string quartet for her ceremony. We actually heard a few other string quartets before choosing Mersonacta. We really liked the fact that they didn't just play classical pieces. In fact, they do a lot of special arrangements and have songs that no other quartets have. They played their classical songs really well too... but it was their pop and contemporary music selection that sold us. Their music is fun but at the same time, classy. We loved their rendition of Journey's Don't Stop Believin'. I would highly recommend them if you're looking for a string quartet for your special day. Their Canon in D Remix (you can preview this song on their website) is probably one of the most refreshing rendition of the classic ever. Just make sure you catch them at their free auditions... that way you can not only hear them play, but at the same time talk to them face to face. read more
