So many guests came up to us afterwards and told us they were the best band they've seen at a wedding. They managed to get nearly everyone on the dance floor. We are so happy we picked them for our special day. They made sure the entire reception went perfectly from cocktail hour to send off. Can't recommend enough!

Some highlights: -- Bill & Chris were very easy to work with booking the band and handling all the logistics. -- They were super flexible the day of the wedding (we started late, had to move their setup, and had them plugged into an old gas-powered generator). -- They played an epically-long (nearly 2-hour) set without taking a break. -- They had the entire place dancing like crazy people. I've had so many friends & relatives tell me how "awesome your band was" after the fact -- I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for an incredible band for the wedding/event.

Review for Groove Authority - Rockstars in Formalwear…read more Let's get one thing straight: Groove Authority didn't just play our wedding--they torched the stage and left the tent in a cloud of confetti and happy tears. We hired their full 8-piece band and held our reception under a circus tent in South Dartmouth. But don't let the quaint coastal vibes fool you--this was an arena-worthy, genre-blending musical blowout. They opened with our first dance: "Fly Me to the Moon" by Frank Sinatra--smooth, classic, and romantic enough to make the moon blush. Then the band took off like a rocket. Their emcee? Electric. Dude was running the show like a late-night host meets soul singer--getting the crowd hyped, guiding the flow, and belting out tunes like he was born holding a mic. Let's talk setlist. They delivered funk, soul, pop, R&B, and rock with the precision of a Swiss watch and the sass of a dance floor icon. And when they leaned into rock--honey, they leaned all the way in. Guitars blazing, drums thunderous, and a badass drum solo that had everyone losing it like they were at Led Zeppelin concert in a tux. And then--the voice. Their female lead vocalist? Pipes like Tina, soul like Aretha, and stage presence like Beyoncé on a mission. She didn't just sing--she slayed. Every note was a sermon. Every high belt was a spiritual experience. She had guests fanning themselves, grabbing their chests, and yelling "YES MA'AM!" after each verse. She didn't come to play--she came to bring the house down. We knew we were witnessing something special when dozens of guests and multiple vendors came up to us asking, "Where did you find this band?!" The buzz was real. Based on that reaction alone, we knew we had hit the jackpot. We even saw relatives dancing we've never seen dance before--the shy ones, the quiet cousins, even the stoic uncles. Old and young alike were on that dance floor like they'd just been blessed by the funk gods. At one point, it felt like we were back in 1981, when you popped in a cassette, fluffed your hair, and sang into your hairbrush like your life depended on it. And then--our finale: "Don't Stop Believin'." Our handpicked closer. And they delivered it like it was the last song Earth would ever hear. The tent erupted. Phones were out, hands were up, voices were hoarse. We were one big joyful, Journey-singing family. If you're looking for a wedding band that doesn't just "perform" but serves up a soul-scorching, guitar-blasting, rock 'n' roll revival in formalwear, Groove Authority is it. Book them. Wear comfy shoes. Prepare to dance like you mean it. And thank us later!

Paul was super lovey to work with in the lead up with the band learning some new songs for us, including one for our first dance, and also editing their usual wedding playlist to only play songs we liked (from their seriously extensive catalogue) at the reception. The singers were absolutely incredible and as a band they are honestly on par with most any band I've ever seen live. They reduced the number in their band to fit within our budget (they have very reasonable pricing for their crazy high quality level btw) and also happily agreed to travel to Branford, CT in the middle of February. We received sooo many compliments from people at the wedding saying things like "Why did I only have a DJ at my wedding, this is so much more fun!" and everyone at our wedding was dancing the whole night through (which is no small feat given the very wide age arrange!). I have been to many weddings and always thought I'd go with a DJ like most people I know (particularly from a cost perspective) but this band was easily one of the best parts of our wedding - I'm so glad my husband convinced me! If you're torn seriously just go for it and hire Groove Authority - they will make your wedding a night to remember not only for you but for all who attend :) Such an absolute blast and could not recommend them more!!

If you need your party to rock, you need Soul Clap to spin the music…read more I had the pleasure of seeing them in action two days in a row this week: on Thursday at The Moxie Agency party and again last night at Boston Yelp's Old Skool Prom: http://www.yelp.com/biz/old-skool-prom---yelp-style-whiskey-park-boston The vibe of these two events was decidedly different - the first a swank party in a penthouse loft, the next for a group of bedecked and bejeweled prom-goers in a hotel lounge - showing off the versatility of Soul Clap's repertoire. If the music these guys spin doesn't make you want to dance with somebody (with somebody who loves you. . .) I'd be shocked.

Creating great music is all about tuning in to the energy of the people listening--a talent that Soul Clap has successfully mastered. Versatility can sometimes be difficult for other DJ's. Most stick to one type of music genre, venue and crowd. Soul Clap is a splendid exception to this rule. I have heard Charlie and Eli bring back the 90's at Redline-- inspiring grown men and women to break out their old school dance moves (I even revived my rusty running man and roger rabbit)... I've seen them create music at a posh Moet event-- getting even the most timid attendees to clap their hands, tap their feet and bust a move... And let's not forget the cult-like hipster-filled(yeah I know we all hate the word hipster, but deal with it) following they created with Dancing on the Charles. Whether they're spinning in a nightclub, a bar, a fashion boutique, a swanky hotel or a dingy American Legion hall, their music is always unique, crowd-pleasing and one hell of a good time. We chose the eight-piece band -- three vocalists, guitar, drums, keyboard, and a three-piece horn section -- and it was the perfect lineup. The dance floor was packed from the very first song to the last. Beyond their incredible talent, what truly impressed us was the care they put into personalizing the night. They learned several special songs just for us, including "Maybe I'm Amazed" for our first dance, all of our parent dances, and "Wagon Wheel" for a college tradition. At midnight, they even led the entire room in Happy Birthday when my husband turned 31 -- such a fun and unforgettable moment. The vocalists came out onto the dance floor throughout the night, engaging with guests and keeping the energy high. So many people told us it was the best wedding band they've ever experienced -- and we completely agree.

Rebecca made the whole process of song selection very easy. The day of the wedding the musicians were at the site early, and they looked professional and kept a low profile. Pull up a section of lawn ... but get there early, because the best spots are taken an hour in advance or so. Oh, yeah, it's free. The staging and design's usually eclectic, and it'll drive you buggy if you're a purist who demands that Shakespeare be performed on painted period backdrops and in musty old black broadcloth and ivory lace. Taming of the Shrew had costuming and design as if they were all paisans in the North End circa 1890. As You Like It was set around 1935, with the bad guy even wearing a black pseudo-Fascisti uniform. Hamlet had a bleak, Brutalist set where the escape scene had searchlights flashing over the stage and the sound of prison sirens and choppers in the background. The Comedy of Errors was Miami Beach circa 1930, with bossa nova aesthetics and music. This isn't your high school drama production. And what it is is AMAZING.
