Wow. If calling a funeral home for information is a rehearsal for using their services, I got…read moreenough from one 2-minute phone call with Rinaldi to know for sure that about the last thing I would ever do is relinquish the body of a loved one to their care. My father is nearing the end of his life. This is my only father nearing the end of his only life. My mother is still alive. All of that is to say, gee, I have never been in a position to call funeral homes and cremation joints to see what happens, how much it costs, how to plan for it. The person who took my call was the most condescending, supercilious, and ... obnoxious ... person I have ever encountered in any service capacity. And we're counting like deli clerks and manicurists here, not PEOPLE WHO ARE DOING THE LAST THING THAT WILL EVER BE DONE TO SOMEONE YOU HAVE LOVED YOUR WHOLE LIFE. I had a few basic questions, and Mr. "Trust Me, I Do This All the Time" had no patience for my questions. What documents do I need? He kept rattling things off and when I said, wait, let me see if I got that, he'd sigh heavily and plow over me and repeat what he'd said, only louder and with more irritation. I actually asked him to be a little more patient with me, a cremation newbie, and he said, "Well, trust me, I do this all the time," which is not the same thing as working with someone who doesn't do this all the time. Incidentally, after I compared what he told me to what I learned from other places in the area, I learned that certificates of cremation, needed for anyone traveling with the cremains, can be photocopied. So Rinaldi's $18 for the first one, $20 for every additional is a scam. So maybe this lettuce wedge I talked to was having a bad day. You know what? Call in sick. Stay home. In some jobs, you don't get to have your bad day.

When your loved one passes, go ANYWHERE ELSE but here. My father passed very suddenly and I thought…read morePumphrey would be a good place to host services and I was sadly mistaken. We had family at the house, so we gave a courtesy call to reschedule the appointment, and he said "absolutely not". We only wanted to push the appointment back 30 minutes to an hour as it's been less than 48 hours since we received the tragic news and our big family is grieving a tragic loss. Mr. Pumphrey was not accommodating. This is very interesting because we still arrived to the appointment (about 15 mins late) and they did not have any other appointments that day. At the appointment (took about 2.5 hours) we were not offered water or anything to drink. Mr. Pumphrey would not even come to talk to my family, instead he sent his colleague to deliver the news that he would not take the time to come talk to us although he was in the building. I've never been to any business where I've asked for the manager and they blatantly declined.. especially when you're about to spend about $20,000! Pumphrey is more like DUMP-HREY as the way he treats his clientele is absolute trash. I'm pretty sure he is racist to anyone who isn't of Caucasian descent, so keep that in mind too.. Save your time and energy and go elsewhere to send your loved one to heaven in peace The only nice person who works there is Shelby, and I personally think she's out of place at such a mean-spirited environment. God help this place, it is very much needed.

Our meeting was comprehensive, and coupled with a tour of the elegant facility. Ms. Rawls - Bannister was both considerate, and an excellent communicator.

Examine the prepaid contract if they insist on getting the additional $1,000.00 well pay them for what they have done and have your love one picked up from Hortons by the new funeral home and taken to the other funeral home that will respect you get a refund from Hortons and this part is "important" get the new funeral home to order your casket. Remember "You" are in charge of your deceased family member not the funeral home. It's totally unnecessary to rip off family members handling the arrangements for an additional 1,000.00 pocket money for the funeral home to handle your loved ones after prearrangements has already been made and "paid for". Also if the removal person shows up to your residence to remove your loved one dressed inappropriately with a hoodie on and casual baggy pants like he's going to a ball game "as a representative of the funeral home" send him away call the funeral Home or another funeral home and "demand" someone that will respect your home and your family that will show up dressed appropriately with at least dress slacks and a decent shirt casual or dress shoes and don't accept them requesting your help to remove your loved one from your residence they should come prepared with two people remember you're paying for this proper service and you tell the funeral home what time to come to your residence to pick up your loved one if you're waiting for other family members to come to your home before your love one is removed from your residence generally they come automatically within 90 minutes but if you need more time let them know when you call to notify them of the passing of your loved one. .

The only thing that was a issue for me was that when first sitting down to meet with someone a piece of paper was just sat in front of my face with no real directions or questions being asked to what I would like to see. If you are helping someone with planning while they are grieving or suffered a loss it is very confusing to just sit down and look at a paper with no real guidance or direction. The other issue I had was we paid for a service and it wasn't provided in the time that we previously discussed. Other than that the workers are very respectful upbeat and polite. A little on the pricey side but still decent.
