I contacted this dealership after finding an RV I was seriously interested in purchasing. I live in…read moreArizona, so this would have been an out-of-state transaction requiring me to arrange a flight to Salt Lake City.
I initially called over the weekend while they were closed and received an automated text response. No issue there--I planned to follow up when they reopened.
On Monday, Seth contacted me regarding my missed call. I spoke with him and explained that I was a serious out-of-state buyer, had several questions about the RV, and needed to understand their purchase process before booking a flight. He asked me to text my email address and questions to him, which I did around 12:30 PM.
I heard nothing back.
By Tuesday around 4 PM, I called again to check the status. I received this text response:
"Hey with a customer I'll shoot you a call in just a minute."
That call never came.
At that point, I assumed they either had another buyer or simply weren't interested in my business, so I stopped pursuing it.
To my surprise, Seth finally texted me Wednesday around 12:30 PM with a few of the photos I had requested, none of the other information. I reviewed them, including undercarriage photos, and decided I was comfortable enough with the condition of the RV to move forward.
I immediately responded that I was ready for the next step. I specifically asked about placing a deposit and asked Seth to let me know when he had five minutes for a phone call because I needed to finalize things before making flight arrangements.
His response was:
"I'm working with a bank currently, I'll let you know as soon as I'm available for a call."
I replied, "OK, LMK."
That was Wednesday.
As I write this Friday afternoon, I still have not received that call or any further communication.
I even found another phone number for the dealership and called again Thursday near the end of the day, hoping I might reach Clay or simply another salesperson who had time to assist me. Instead, I again received an automated text saying they would get back to me.
They still haven't.
I understand that dealerships get busy. I wasn't expecting immediate responses and was allowing roughly 24 hours between follow-ups. But when someone is prepared to travel hundreds of miles and purchase an RV, repeatedly promising to call and then disappearing for days is unacceptable.
I also made it clear that I was a cash buyer. I can only speculate whether financing customers receive more attention, but this experience certainly left me wondering. In the future, I probably would not mention being a cash buyer until much later in the process.
Ultimately, I'm walking away from the RV and the dealership. If communication is this difficult when I'm trying to give them money, I have very little confidence in how an out-of-state customer would be treated if there were a problem after the sale.
Before contacting them, I noticed many positive reviews, but I also noticed a pattern in some of the dealership's responses to negative reviews: they often seemed more focused on defending themselves than understanding why the customer was dissatisfied.
Unfortunately, after my own experience, I understand those negative reviews much better.
If you're an out-of-state buyer, I would proceed very cautiously. My experience was several days of unanswered questions, promised phone calls that never happened, automated responses, and repeatedly having to chase the dealership just to try to purchase an RV.
I finally decided my time--and my money--would be better spent elsewhere.
