People need to understand that most of the sewing machines sold at retailers are not very high quality. They are almost throwaways. When you try to get these repaired it will almost cost you as much as you paid for them. We have bought multiple machines from this store. When my wife started out she began on very basic machines and a couple from retailers in that process. However, as she became more experienced she transitioned over to a dealer. This made a world of difference. She got into better built machines. The dealers also back up their products, provide classes, advice etc. We have bought from dealers in New Mexico, Texas, CA, Kansas and North Carolina. Many different company machines too. Always quality machines with great support. That is what a dealer provides. When you come in with a retail or very old machine or a product that has no available support or parts etc., theses dealers know that this type of product is going to effect the persons success and happiness with sewing. They are not trying to force you to buy one of their new machines because they are after profit. It is better for you and will run better, last longer, easier to keep it running and serviced etc. They are actually trying to help. We know by experience that getting into a quality machine makes sewing so much better and less frustrating. Consumers are led to believe or expect something like the retail machine to last forever. It just won't compared to a quality machine. Yes back in the day of the old time Singer machines they where and are workhorses. In fact we own one and still use it from time to time. But that machine cannot do what our current machines do. Basically it does 1 thing very well. But Singer is not what it use to be. They are now owned by a new company paid for the name basically. It is now their entry level machine for home use and beginners. They will get better over time I believe. That company sells high end machines as well. Retail is all still mostly crap. They provide them too. Singers sold by a dealer today are different and a little better than those sold at retail too. They are still very entry level. If you are going to sew very little or need a machine to see if you like sewing, than MAYBE a retail will work. I have seen them out of the box not sew good. I even tried to get it fixed and it just would not sew right. But you might get away with it. Now if you want to do the same thing but want to have a more successful start, at least buy the low end Singer from a dealer. They are better than the retail versions. You can't even buy the current retail versions from a dealer that I know. But if you know you like sewing and know you will be doing it for a while, then at least step up to a basic dealer sold machine. That will cost a little bit more, maybe around $400, but you will not get frustrated before you start and then give up. From our experience with Bill, he has never tried to up sell us. He tries to listen to what we are wanting to use the machine for and then shows us the machines. Of coarse money verses features and our wants comes into effect. It is hard to sell you the top of the line machine at a beginners price. But as you grow you can keep and use those machines stepping up as you go. BTW, quality machines should be service once a year if you sew on them frequently. Remember these machines are an investment.

When I walked in I wasn't greeted but just waited while two other people were in front of me, that's fine, I understand. He then came over and asked me if I wanted a repair (still didn't introduce himself), so he takes my sewing machine out of my bag and sets it on a table. A younger guy came up, didn't introduce himself either, and told me it'd be $125 to tune up. I also feel like I was scolded for replacing the gears myself and not having it professionally done. Now if the lady that wasn't there that was so interested in a new machine, I bet I would've gotten better service. I go out of my way to support small businesses, but this one isn't worth a damn.

Anyway, she had an issue with her sewing machine and I am no Betsy Ross or anything we decided to take her machine to Creative Sewing since they do repairs and maintenance. The staff here is very helpful, knowledgeable and took care of us promptly. The lady spoke to my daughter and found out the issue and in just a few minutes had her machine in working order. She then explained what happened to my daughter so hopefully we don't have to go back. The shop was neat and full of machines, fabric and had a bunch of other things that I have no idea what they were. If you need sewing supplies I recommend Creative Sewing highly!

I called Pro Line Appliance Repair because my dishwasher was not draining properly. It was giving…read moreme a code. I thought it might be the filter so I cleaned out the filter to the best of my ability but was still getting a code. I called Pro Line and told them that the diswhasher wouldn't drain properly and gave them the error code. They said they would send someone out the next day. The service call would be $49.95 and it would be applied to the repair if I chose to do it. The tech came the next day, thinking that he was here to work on a clothes washing machine. This was likely due to a language barrier on the part of the woman who booked the appointment as our address had to be repeated over and over also due to a language barrier. When the tech got to the dishwasher he looked at it a long time, then tried to run a cycle, got the error code, looked up some stuff on his phone and called someone, then looked at the connection under the sink. Then just looked at the dishwasher some more. He did not pull it out. He did not empty the water to check the filter. Basically no hands on work was done. Then he told me that the pump was bad and that it would be $388 to replace the pump--parts, labor, tax, etc. I told him I would have to think about it and so he charged me $49.95 for the service call which I unfortunately paid. I asked him how he knew the pump was bad and he said the fact that the dishwasher was not draining indicated the pump was bad. After he left, we talked to my brother in law who lives out of town and he asked some good questions. I called Pro-Line back and talked to the man in charge. I asked again how they KNEW the pump was bad and needed to be replaced instead of a clogged filter or kinked line or something else. The boss told me that when the dishwasher will not drain they always replace the pump and that fixes it. I asked why there was a need for a service call then since I had already told them it was not draining and gave them the code and they could have given me the quote over the phone. I asked why they didn't check the filter or anything else. He said the 49.95 was just the service call. If they actually did anything to the dishwasher, it would be a $200 labor charge. He continued to justify the tech who had checked nothing and done nothing so as were getting no where and I finally hung up on him and did a little YouTube research. It turns out with my dishwasher that if the filter is clogged, it shuts down and gives an error code. After the filter is cleaned (which I did) the code has to be cleared. I found a video that showed how to do that and cleared the code and now the dishwasher, including the pump that "needed" to be replaced for almost $400, is working perfectly. I honestly don't know if these guys are incompetent or fraudsters (likely both), but they charged me $49.95 for nothing and recommended a repair that was not necessary. I would have gladly paid the $49.95 if he had come out, checked the filter and cleared the code--at least he would have done something. I assume if they always replace the pump, that will also involve clearing the filter and resetting the codes--so replacing the pump always "works"--just like if your car was out of gas and the mechanic put in a new gas tank which he then filled with gas and the car ran again. "Every time we put in a new tank and fill it with gas, that seems to solve the problem." But this guy didn't seem to know anything or he likely would have reset the code in the least.

Because of the way CLT Appliance handled my concerns, I want to update my previous review. My original concern was regarding the pricing of a repair and the inconsistent explanations I received about why the cost had increased significantly compared with my previous repair and a recent quote from the company. I want to be clear that my concern was not with the technician. He was professional, courteous, arrived on time, and completed the repair well. After reviewing my feedback, the manager from CLT Appliance reached out to discuss my concerns. I appreciate that the company took the time to listen and address the situation rather than dismissing my feedback. I also appreciated that my initial conversation with the manager's assistant was escalated and handled promptly. The manager reviewed my concerns, provided additional clarification regarding the pricing, acknowledged my frustration, and worked with me to resolve the issue. CLT Appliance ultimately refunded the $125 difference that was the source of my concern. I appreciate a company that is willing to listen to customers, take accountability, and make things right.
