Delicious lunch buffet! I flew in to visit a friend who works at Mesa Verde National Park, and this was the 1st place she took me (even before the park), and having eaten here, I understand why. We had an excellent dinner this evening. The ALOO GOVI TARKAARI and chicken saag were very flavorful with just the perfect balance of spices. The Himalayan Spice Wine was aromatic and soothing although a touch sweet side. We would definitely go back there next time we are in Durango. read more

We had the lunch buffet and it was great. We showed up at 2 pm and they were closing down the buffet but we were still able to find a good variety. We were to only customers so we got to talk with the staff. Having traveled to Nepal we found a lot in common. The service was fantastic. The food is bit Americanized but you can still taste Nepal. Easily one of the best, maybe even the best restaurant I have been to. Everything we had was amazing. I most enjoyed the vegetarian saag, but the vegetable curry and lamb curry were also excellent. It was our first time to try this ethic food. I had chicken vindaloo and garlic naan. The chicken vindaloo was delicious and the garlic naan was okay. My husband got daal soup and Annapurna beef, the soup was good, but the beef dish was just okay. The portion of the beef was small and greasy. We both liked the complimentary appetizer, it tasted really light and crispy, and the sauce was very tasty. The service was quick and our server was polite. read more

Enjoyed our meal for the most part. I will return. The Chicken Tika Masala was oddly sweet, however. The chef could be more aggressive with spices. I found myself salting everything. I've had the veggie momo and chow chow twice now and they are so delicious! Make sure you try the orange sauce too! My most recent visit I got the Saag Paneer, which I've never tried before but it is out of this world, especially with garlic naan! My family was looking for a place to have Christmas Dinner, and thankfully we chose to eat at the Himalayan Kitchen. Even though it was packed, we were quickly seated and had our drink order taken. My wife and I indulged in the pot of spiced wine, and it was worth it. Our children had the vegetable korma which was awesome. My wife had a dish that was so good she wouldn't share. I had the yak stew which was so tender and tasty! The naan and raita we shared was also awesome too. So if you are in town and want something that will keep you warm and is absolutely tasty, give the Himalayan Kitchen a try. read more

One star for service. The restaurant was busy because I'm assuming the food is good. There were a Caucasian couple in front of us in the line who were offered a warm welcome, a couple of seats at the bar while they waited. Then the host decided to flutter away. While still in our visual range, he walked around speaking to the other guests, picking up a few empty glasses from the bar and basically cleaning up at his leisure while the queue piled on behind us. The folks behind us asked us , did you guys check in already? No sir, we have not. They too were Caucasian . They waited a bit and just left. We hung around a bit for god knows what reason. A couple of tables emptied in front of us and were bused. So now the host comes by and without a word or a smile, shows his thumb at an empty table. Then another rude guy shows up, this time it's the waiter. We say we are ready to order because we already checked out the menu on yelp. He doesn't give us a menu and when we described what we wanted (kabobs) he says "we call them xxxx (something Tibetan) here". I will not comment on the food because eating out is an experience and the rude staff ruined it for us. I will start off by saying that the food here is AMAZING. We had the samosa's for an appetizer. They were fried very well and came with a sauce that complimented the taste of the samosa extremely well. The tandoori chicken was very tasty having great spices and was moist and tender. The mango lasse I had was very good too, it is probably one of the best drinks I have ever had. The other items like the curries were also very good with great spices and a lot of great flavor. Sure, the service is slow but it is definitely worth the wait. If you are going to durango, this restaurant is a must. read more

Visiting Durango for the first time. I usually trust and always check reviews. Gave this place a try......Really disappointed. Service was terrible, the server left our appetizer plates, soup bowls on the table empty. I ordered chicken tikki masala...very bland and under spiced compared to most Indian places I've been to. Drove from Arizona to Durango Christmas Day which was yesterday looking around trying to find a place that was open we found the Himalayan kitchen my comment is the service was terrible they couldn't get our food right and so basically I went without dinner! I had some rice my boyfriend had his dinner and of course he could hardly eat it because I didn't have anything to eat and I'm on a strict diet so I couldn't have his food they try to make it good by offering me another glass of wine well forget it by then I'd only seen my waiter once our food has been brought out by somebody else which is not a problem when you're really busy which they were but I never saw the waiter again so I have to say I can't say if the food was good cuz I didn't have any and it was Christmas I've been in the service business for a long time and I have to say this was bad so I don't recommend it read more

We waited a ridiculously long time after ordering for the food to arrive. Long enough, in fact, for the waiter to think we were asking for the check and not the food. And he got mad when we told him otherwise. Lots of attitude, no apologies. Portions are small for the lofty $15+ per dish. Food is unexciting. Lamb was chewy, dry. Shrimp was actually well cooked. Took forever for the rice to show up. Had to keep handing the server the excess dishes so they would take them away. Overall a rather horrible experience. Tasty interesting food. Tho I would not recommend the pan fried noodles it was too salty for me and I feel like it was basically all the different meat throw in from other dishes and add noodles then you have that. Everything else seem very delicious such as the sizzling option they offer. So the other dishes are worth trying. I can't believe it's taken me this long to try here!! Our usual take out place was closed on Christmas Eve, so we got 2 appys and 2 entrees from here. It was fantastic!!
