First time a this place. I ordered the chicken and rice, or how they call it, biriyani. It was delish, a bit spicy, but perfect for mi likings. Definitely will come back to try something else next time.

The food here is so good! The paneer was delicious, and I liked the size of the pieces. The rice was also good especially with the sauce. I also got a chai, and I appreciate that they sweeten theirs because I love a sweet chai. It was warm and spicy and so delicious. I've also enjoyed the kheer from here, very delicious as well. The workers here are really nice, so I will definitely be back :)

I order takeout here often, but the food is consistently mishandled. This time I was given a broken to-go box, and the entire bag was soaked in curry. On multiple occasions, I've even seen rice that fell onto the counter thrown back into my box. I've tried to overlook the careless packaging, but it has happened far too many times to ignore. The Indian food options in the High Desert are very limited, which is why I've continued coming back. But management needs to pay closer attention to quality control and packaging standards--customers deserve better.

Staff really friendly, food is amazingly flavorful! Such a hidden gem!! They have food to choose from kinda like a Chinese restaurant where you can order 1 to 3 item combos, as well as made to order. Totally reccomend this establishment, very authentic and delicious! Here's what we ordered: Butter Chicken Chicken Momo (we dipped it in our Butter Chicken sauce) Garlic Naan Tandoori Chicken And basmati rice of course! Clean restaurant, plenty of parking, no public restroom, limited seating but worth it 100%

This is now our go to for Indian food. The owner and staff are ALWAYS amazing to us and the food has NEVER been a let down. I've tried things I never normally would have and even then it wasn't bad in taste, just not something I would pick. I can't recommend this place anymore. Our favorites are the butter chicken, lamb/chicken korma, garlic naan, lamb/chicken tikka masala. I've tried the chili chicken, chicken momo, tandoori chicken, dahl makhani, and some haven't ended up favorites that is not to say they were bad! I plan on trying more things.

I've come to this place twice and I am always greeted by a nice gentleman, he was very attentive to our visit. Food was so good I didn't get a chance to snag a photo of my meal. The chicken Tikka Masala was so delicious, the medium spice was perfect for me. I loved the vegetable samosas as well. Will be coming back more! Don't forget to try the mango lassi!

Finally got the chance to try Himalayan Indian Kitchen's, and let me tell you their food is chef's kiss. The butter chicken and with the Garlic Naan combined was sooo good, I also got curry chicken very yum as well. As for drink I got a super yummy creamy Mango Lassi as my dessert since I was so stuffed. The inside is super clean and neat which I loved, another thing is that the vibes inside are chill and calming even while the staff was cooking. Oh and everyone that works here are so sweet and friendly, definitely RECOMMENDED Last thing I'll say is the prices are great.

Delicious food. Absolutely 100% delicious. Naan was fire. Butter chicken and tiki masala also fire. The hospitality is always there. The owner is so beyond friendly every time I go. I tried the spicy butter chicken this time and he saw I was mixed emotions on the spice level so he brought me some tiki masala to mix in it. Exactly what I needed to mellow it out. Amazing people amazing place amazing food. 10/10 will always go back.

Just had dinner after driving back from Big Bear. We almost ended up having Thai food, but they were about to close. THANK GOODNESS!! We decided to stop by and check it out. They had a nice variety available for the combination meals, but we decided to order off the menu. The vegetable samosas were incredible! And the sauces were an excellent compliment to the flavors. The garlic naan was light and fluffy with just the right amount of garlic. Our mains were delicious with the perfect amount of heat. Our server was so friendly and helpful at answering all our questions. It's a great little place in a convenient location. We will definitely be back as this is now our favorite Indian restaurant (and top 5 overall) in the area.

Well, this restaurant is a nice addition to this side of the desert, and I am all for it! This Himalyan Indian Restaurant is for the open-minded and those seeking flavor, but if you are not sure or curious about its flavors, I recommend you order one of the 3 combos offered. You not only get to visually see the dishes (as Indian food is not always visually pleasing to those who are not familiar), but selecting a combo will give you an opportunity to try a few dishes. Of course, my friend opted to order the meals in hopes of sharing our chosen dishes, and I say, for about $70, we got our money's worth. Unfortunately, they serve such meals in to-go containers, so sharing a meal was tricky but convenient to pack when I couldn't finish my Yellow Daal and Saag Paneer. I blame my fill of Mango Lassi and Naan. Mmm... Mango Lassi...think of the taste and texture as a melted mango yogurt, but cold. Are you confused yet? Let me explain. First, there are dishes I was not familiar with, so the customer service was very helpful in giving me an idea of what each dish was like. It is helpful if you were already familiar with Indian food, but if not (or just curious) and you already read this far in my review, I suggest searching the internet for descriptions of unfamiliar dishes. We were informed, with the exception of the Tandoori Chicken, that all the chicken dishes are boneless. I recommend the savory Chicken Korma, chicken simmered in a curry style sauce made with coconut. You can choose your spicy: none, mild, medium...and maybe for the more adventurous, a regular amount of spice. Yellow Daal (which I was craving) is a lentil based dish. Lentils come in various colors and flavors, and this one was yellow. I ordered it without spice and still enjoyed it. Saag Paneer has always been my favorite. I also opted not to have this dish spicy, and I loved it. So good! Again, it's not a visual dish, but I do love a good stewed spinach dish with cubes of cheese (usually goat cheese). For both the Daal and the Saag, I ate it with plain Naan bread (which you can choose from a variety of flavors). I recommend eating the Daal and Saag with Naan. Delicious! I read a review that was surprised that their meal didn't come with rice. Though we ordered a shrimp biryani (rice, which we ordered mild). The spice and flavor in the shrimp biryani were perfect. Large shrimp pieces, too! ours came with plain biryani, but really, you eat your meal with Naan. The moment you walk in, the wonderful smell and essence of Himalyan Indian food speak to you. From the cooks to the service to the food, I thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I don't know if this side of the desert deserves such wonderful flavors, but I do know that those who are not familiar with challenge the flavors and those who are familiar will be open to exploring familiar and new dishes. Many of the dishes contain coconut milk or nutty curries. Dietary needs may not be available, but many dishes can be made vegan as the meat dishes offered (respectfully reflective of the culture) are lamb and chicken.

My parents and I have wanted a closer Indian place for so long, and this place is a blessing. My mom passed away and didn't make it to see the opening but it's nice that my dad and I have something new to go to. We tried HIK once so far and it was great quality. We tried: Butter Chicken, Aloo Mattar, Paneer Tikka Masala, Roti, Garlic Naan, Chili Naan, Kheer, and Gulab Jamun. Also rice. We tried various heat levels and everything was extremely well packaged and cooked. I can't wait to go back because there are many more things I look forward to trying. Ordering via the phone was easy and the customer service was incredible. I'm always shy to try a new place and this was a great experience. It's a small interior and I think when I counted it had 5 4-seaters. read more

We came to this restaurant for lunch. The place was clean with plenty of tables for seating. The staff was extremely friendly and greeted us when we entered. They were very patient when explaining the menu to us. They offer 1, 2, & 3 item combos. My husband got the two item combo with butter chicken and chicken curry. I got the Lamb curry special. Both meals were absolutely delicious and the lamb was prepared to order! We are avid lovers of Indian cuisine and eat the cuisine almost everywhere that we travel. We found this place to be one the best that we've eaten at. We will definitely return and we will bring friends with us! read more

Love this place, growing up in LA and Cerrito's area. We were frequently exploring different types of food and Indian food would always be some type of comfort food for us. since I move up here in the high Desert I haven't found a place worthy of eating in or ordering for takeout until they opened up Disney place in Apple Valley. The seasoning and the portion of the chicken is just right nice big chunky pieces not like other places that try to give you scraps. All the curries are delicious. The spice levels are always on point! The Nann is good. I would like for it to be a little bigger, but they're good overall eating area is decent small size.. would definitely recommend read more

We cant always get my 84 y/o mom out so my nephew and his wife went here to pick up lunch for us (mom, sis, me). They said the restaurant and service were good. My nephew's wife is from Pakistan and said this is one of the restaurants she has found with flavors that remind her of home. We each ordered something different and we all enjoyed our food. I'm sorry I don't remember what everyone ordered. This place is 14 miles from us but was well worth it. We'll definitely order from here again. Himalayan Indian Kitchen was a great find. Excellent food and service. My daughter and I both picked two different items off the steam tray to share with rice and garlic naan. It was delicious with the right amount of spice. Portions were huge and we brought home enough for another meal. I can't wait to return for take out to bring home for a family dinner. This new Indian restaurant is a hidden gem. I was craving some Indian food for weeks and decided to give it a try. Its a small, casual place with afriendly staff. The owner was very accomodating and customized the spice level for the kids in our group. You have the choice to order either a combo plate from the ready to go warming trays if you're in a hurry. But I recommend ordering family style from their made to order menu. We loved the veggie samosas with their sweet tamarind dipping sauce. The butter chicken was creamy, savory and moist. We also had their tender and flavorful lamb curry and garlic naan. The best dish was their shrimp korma, which we custom ordered. The sauce was so good that we ordered extra to go! We just stopped by and picked up a 2 item combo . Tika masala garam paneer . They were both delicious. What I enjoyed the most was the ability to taste the individual spices because they were muddled together. We also got papadaam and an extra order of garlic naan . I haven't had papadaam for over a year and a half and it didn't disappoint . We watched the young man roll out the naan and cook it fresh to order and it was some of the best we've had yet . Do yourself a favor and try the food here . It's worth the drive to Apple Valley. I would say the only thing that could've possibly been better was the rice could have been a little fresher but you can't have everything. read more

I normally go to Spice of India for my high desert Indian food fix. But I found this place in Apple Valley. Small hole in the wall but the service is really good and the food is great. You need to check this place out. If you have not ever had Indian food just go for the butter curry chicken. You can choose your spice level from mild to crazy spicy. The sauce is amazing and the chicken cuts with a plastic fork. Also you must get the garlic naan bread. read more

The food and service is great! I've ordered food in person and waited 10-20 minutes while it's freshly made, and other times, I've ordered it online and picked it up. If waiting for your order to be made, the owner is such a kind person and hospitable. He's offered me water while I wait for my food. The food has always been constant and fresh. I love the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Butter Chicken. I also have had the Lamb Tikka Masala, which was fantastic as well. The Garlic Naan bread is always something to get as a side. Many of the dishes come with rice already on the side, so keep that in mind if ordering online (don't add rice to your order since it may come with it). My workplace orders from here often, and we have always been impressed. It's also nice that you can personalize your order (i.e. spicy or mild). I've eaten here about 10 times, and they definitely have my business! The prices are fair as well. On my visit today, it appears they also rented out the suite next door as well and combined them, so the restaurant is now a bit bigger for in-person dining. This is a very welcoming and good-tasting place for Indian Cuisine. read more

Stopped in opening week, I went early in the afternoon and there was one other customer. The gentleman at the register was very attentive to both she and I. Once I ordered my food he checked in with me and offered plenty of samples of other foods. I'm kinda boring, I know what I like and I stick to it. For me it's the Chicken Tiki masala, and their's was good . The Naan looked a little crispy, like a tortilla left on the burner a little too long but it was good. So, overall I'll be going back. read more

Beware when I walked in to place an order was speaking to the man at the counter, looking behind the glass. When a roach crawling on the counter he waited for it to get by the register, killed it put it in the trash didn't say one word disgusting it needs to be shut down I wouldn't have even given it one star, but you need to to be able to write a review. They need to be shut down filthy establishment read more

My boyfriend has never had Indian food before and I got a craving for it. Went here and ordered the Shahi Paneer and Butter Chicken, with garlic naan and samosas. It was incredible! Staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Portions are huge so we brought some home for my mom to try (who also has never had Indian before) she loooved it! My friend and I ventured out for some Indian food today at Himalayan Indian Kitchen and we were both incredibly impressed! From the friendly service to the delicious and authentic flavors, it was a fantastic experience. The restaurant offers a steam table buffet with 1-3 entrees, which my friend opted for. They were featuring a tempting selection including saag paneer, tandoori chicken, chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, and vegetable korma. She decided on the tikka masala and vegetable korma, and raved about both. The portions were generous, served with plenty of rice and warm garlic naan. I went with one of my personal favorites: chicken vindaloo. They offer spice levels from mild to "very hot," and being a spice enthusiast, I opted for "hot." I crossed my fingers, hoping they'd hit my perfect level of heat. And they did! It was wonderfully flavorful with a satisfying kick that had me reaching for tissues, but in the best way possible. We finished off our meal by sharing an order of Gulab Jamun, a delightful Indian dessert. These sweet, donut-hole sized cakes are soaked in a fragrant sugar syrup, and were the perfect way to end our lunch feast. Overall, our first trip to Himalayan Indian Kitchen was very enjoyable. Himalayan Indian Kitchen on Highway 18 is hands-down our favorite spot for Indian food! The food is always prepared perfectly and bursting with flavor. Some of our must-haves: the Chicken Tikka Masala, Paneer Tikka Masala, and Vegetable Samosas -- all absolutely delicious. The sauces that come with the samosas are amazing, and their Naan is incredible. We always order both the Chili Naan and Garlic Naan -- can't choose just one!
