I had a very enjoyable stay here for 3 nights during a sales conference. The location, the staff and the amenities are top notch, you really cant go wrong when staying here. There is easy access to the Riverwalk, plenty of dining options nearby and the Alamo is only a 5 minute walk from the back door. The hotel feels older but has been remodeled very recently. My room was comfortable, had a nice balcony and plenty of space. If I had one complaint it was that the Riverwalk area can be loud at night, so there is a tradeoff for being close. I would definitely recommend using this hotel for a sales meeting. The conference space is very nice, the food was better than we expected and all of the service was perfect Overall, I definitely recommend staying here and would do it again if I had the chance. read more

I stayed Monday through Thursday while attending an Inspiring Women Leadership Conference sponsored by DPS, and this stay... was a mixed bag wrapped in a pretty River Walk view. Let's start with the good. Arrival was smooth, valet was on point, and every staff member I encountered--from housekeeping to the gentleman assisting with luggage--was pleasant and professional. Customer service? Solid across the board. The River's Edge Lounge was definitely a highlight. Happy hour did what it needed to do. Queso and chips were good, margaritas were even better, and our server, Blake Leigh (if I got that right), was absolutely amazing. Attentive, kind, and just good energy. Now... the not-so-great. Hot water was a problem. Tuesday morning--none. An engineer came up and got it working temporarily. Wednesday morning--none again. By then, multiple guests were experiencing the same issue, so clearly it wasn't just my room. I get it--there were hundreds of women in the hotel--but lack of preparation shouldn't fall on the guest. Wednesday and Thursday mornings? Still no hot water. I didn't even bother calling again. Then came the conference food situation... and whew. Lunch started with a salad, and the woman next to me found a bug crawling out of her lettuce. That was it for me--I immediately lost my appetite and left. No coming back from that. Breakfast earlier that week was a honey biscuit with chicken... but it wasn't giving honey, and the chicken was overcooked and dry. To their credit, when I shared my experience with the River's Edge staff, they comped my queso. That was appreciated. One more thing--there was an occasional odor in the hotel. Not constant, but noticeable when it hit. Let's just say... it leaned toward sewer vibes and leave it there. Fiume Pizzeria and Wine Bar I also ordered pizza from Fiume during my stay, and unfortunately... it missed the mark. I tried the Sweet Texas Heat (white sauce, applewood smoked bacon, Calabrian pepper, fresh basil, hot honey), and for $35, I expected better. It was overcooked--thin crust turned dry and brittle--and once that happens, it's hard to recover. Flavor was okay, but the texture ruined it. The side salad? Very good. But I wasn't paying $35 for a salad. Final Thoughts The Hilton Palacio del Rio has a prime location right on the River Walk, it's clean, and the staff is genuinely pleasant--which goes a long way. But between the inconsistent hot water, food issues, and a few questionable moments... I'm torn. Would I stay again? Maybe--for convenience. Would I eat there again? No. read more

$70 plus tax for parking We asked for parking options and they said they would just take care of the car. The next morning we had somewhere to be and we were on time. The valet said the car would take 30 minutes to retrieve. Also, they said they have a parking garage 2 blocks away that they share with the bus. That would have been good to know, but still not convenient. We are currently late for something important and I have never experienced this at a hotel. I will never stay here again or recommend this place. They are making a killing off of valet charges and it is a horrible service. read more

I've been coming to San Antonio for over 20 years for Texas Music Educators Association conferences and have stayed at Hilton Palacio del Rio many times because of its proximity to the convention center. Unfortunately, over the past three years, this property has gone downhill significantly. I'm a Hilton Diamond member and have always preferred to stay loyal to the brand but after this most recent stay, I will never stay here again. I paid $496 per night plus $60 per night for valet, only to experience: Chronic understaffing across the hotel Completely gridlocked valet service Ongoing construction directly in front of the property creating constant chaos Lobby bar understaffed with no table service during happy hour, while guests were waiting for delayed room availability at 4 PM Rooms not ready when promised Broken QR code for room service ordering A 20-minute wait just to speak with the front desk Being told a menu would be delivered (it never came) Then learning there was a 1.5-hour wait for room service This is, hands down, the worst tourist trap hotel experience I've had in Texas. Between the inflated pricing, unreliable service, and operational breakdowns, this property no longer reflects Hilton standards. Do not pay premium rates for mediocre accommodations and poor guest experience. Very disappointing and my last stay here. read more

There are a lot of nice hotels in the area. This one is nice, but nothing special. It is on the beautiful river walk. I think the $60 daily parking fee put me off right at the start. We did enjoy happy hour in the River View, and the appetizers we quite good. The bartender takes pride in her trade. All the servers were nice and attentive. We spent two nights here over Christmas and had a wonderful stay. Our room was on the 10th floor with a beautiful view overlooking the River Walk. Sitting on the balcony at night and watching the river below was especially enjoyable. The room was clean and very spacious for two people. The bed and pillows were among the most comfortable we've experienced. We chose to park in the garage across the street, which was slightly cheaper than hotel parking and much more convenient, especially since the hotel parking area was very crowded during our stay. We would definitely stay here again if we return! read more

We came to town for an Air Force boot camp graduation. Every employee from valet, to desk to manager and bartenders were so friendly. We received excellent service during renovations and construction. Our room suffered a freak flood and the staff was quick to check on us and accommodate. We will return. read more

The hotel is beautiful and a great location! Upon arriving we were met by valet and bellman Michael. He said we could check in and he would get the bags from the back of our vehicle. It was a smooth drop off and luggage was handled with ease. Check in was just as easy and after numerous chats sent about a possible upgrade they ensured us they would check upon arrival. We were upgraded to a riverwalk balcony room. We loved the lights, and morning coffee and reading were great. The location of the hotel allowed us to explore riverwalk with ease. There was a Rio Go boat ticket booth and launch across the street. So many restaurants and special street vendors because of the holiday. Though we had access to a number of restaurants, we really weren't impressed with the Durty Nelly or Riverwalk Cafe. That happened to be the only downfall. We would highly recommend the hotel for location, cleanliness, staff attentiveness, and our overall stay. Beautiful experience. I will definitely be returning with my family. I stayed here my last night in San Antonio for business since my flight was delayed a day. From the check in to my departure I felt like a wealthy person lol. My room was beautiful and clean. My balcony had a spectacular view of the Riverwalk. I dined at the wine and pizza restaurant for dinner it did not disappoint as they have a pizza oven outside on the patio overlooking to riverwalk. I had intended on having breakfast in the main restaurant. When I arrived the breakfast buffet was set up but I was told that I could no longer order breakfast at 11:30am. I had to order lunch even though there was plenty of food. This was a little disappointing but I ordered a soup since I was starving then headed to the Starbucks inside the hotel where the barista was very pleasant and grabbed a coffee and yogurt. I was able to check my luggage until it was time for my Uber to arrive to take me to the airport which was very nice. I also wanted to mention that it smelled divine in the lobby! read more

Stayed at the Hilton Palacio del Rio and had a bit of a mixed experience. The location is great, and the building itself is nice, but the construction noise was a major issue. It started early every morning and was loud, definitely not ideal if you're hoping to sleep in or relax. There's a bar downstairs, but the restroom is on the next floor up, which was a little strange. On the bright side, Durty Nelly's (connected to the hotel) was a blast! The piano players were super interactive and entertaining, it really made the night. Would maybe stay again once the construction is done, but it definitely took away from the overall experience this time. read more

I stayed here for almost a week for business. It's a few minutes walking distance to Henry Gonzales Convention Center which was very convenient. Service here was excellent. All the staff were super friendly. There's several restaurant in-house including a small Starbucks in the lobby area near the front entrance. Title: Local Family's Disappointing Father's Day at Hilton Palacio del Rio We chose to celebrate Father's Day breakfast at The River's Edge Café & Patio Bar inside the Hilton Palacio del Rio because of its prime Riverwalk location and the made-to-order omelet bar advertised online. My wife and I are lifelong San Antonio residents, and we love visiting the Riverwalk with our two kids -- especially around La Villita and the Arneson River Theatre. From this hotel, you could walk to all of it. But after today, I never will again -- and you probably shouldn't either. First, the approach to the hotel is a mess. Construction out front makes it confusing and stressful to access -- not a warm welcome, especially for locals looking for a relaxing morning downtown. Other downtown hotels are far easier to navigate. Then came the real gut punch: valet parking cost us $60 for one hour. Just to eat breakfast. That is outrageous. Try the Fairmont across the street if you need to valet on Alamo Street -- I've parked there for free many times without issue. As for breakfast? Forgettable at best. The omelet station was just plain -- nothing special about it at all. And the outdoor patio seating comes with a bonus: if you dare leave your table for even a moment, pigeons swoop in and steal your food. That actually happened to us. Hilton Palacio del Rio might still draw tourists for its Riverwalk proximity, but for San Antonio locals looking for a nice brunch or a hotel to recommend -- this is not the place. Stayed here last week for a work conference. Conveniently located on the Riverwalk, this hotel is in serious need of renovations. The lobby area looks nice, but the rooms not so much. Had an old feel to it. The water pressure in the shower was pretty low. The sensor lights in the room were annoying. The elevators on one side were broken. I'm a Hilton member, and while checking in, I wasn't offered any bottled water. My co-workers got water. It's not a huge deal, but the first time that's ever happened. The employee checking me in wasn't very friendly or engaging. Although I wasn't on the Riverwalk side, it still got pretty loud at night. This isn't a hotel I'd choose on my own. read more

While it has a historic charm, the property has all modern amenities including a pool on the fifth floor overlooking the city. You walk out the back door onto the river walk in an ideal location surrounded by great restaurants and shops. We boarded the river cruise just feet away from our hotel. This property is in a perfect location and has an amazing staff. Christian was extremely helpful during my stay. I loved our city views; however, I recommend staying on the Riverwalk side. Even with being on the 21st floor, the traffic noise was LOUD. I loved the room and amenities and the bed was very, very comfy! The hotel is ON the Riverwalk so it's super convenient to restaurants and shopping. We stayed in a room overlooking the riverwalk for my daughter's birthday. The location is amazing if you want to be on riverwalk. There is a lot of construction in front of the hotel but it wasn't really a problem while we were there. Our room was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony at night listening to the music from a bar nearby. The pool is simple but the views from the pool area were awesome. Please be prepared that these rooms are tiny! I booked through Hotwire express deal for 4 people and they gave me two double beds! (It showed two queens when I booked) I tried to upgrade and front desk said these were the only rooms they have. No sofa or anything. The beds were horrible, no memory foam and uncomfortable because the mattresses were used up already. The ceilings were super low and I heard everything that was happening outside on the hallway. This was like a room in NYC nothing like Texas. Parking was a scam. Only valet and $50 for the night! Pool area was small and pretty sad loooking on the 5th floor with construction area all around this place so no nice views at all. Never again! read more

This is one of the older hotels along the Riverwalk in San Antonio. I am a Hilton loyalist and this was just okay. The hotel is a bit older and has been renovated but the amenities don't tend to match the price point. During conference times, the hotel regularly books for $400-500 a night, and it definitely isn't worth that. In my objective opinion this place is a dump (you can form your own, if you like... but yours could "very easily" wind up like mine.) This Hilton is a privately owned "Franchise by Zachary Hospitality" Hilton is just a brand. Oh sure, it's nicely decorated and all, in a good location by the river but it's a dump nonetheless. The valets were rude and unhelpful as I was not valet parking. Many of the elevators were broke and there was no concierge to ever to be found. Getting an answer to "how and where" to bring in my gear into the building for the conference took a manager as no one including those at the front desk knew. Currently there is lovely view of a construction site across the street too (See photo). There are no refrigerators in the rooms... No, they have "drink chillers"... The one in mine didn't work at all however, it was room temperature. So I went to the desk to inquire about getting a "medical refrigerator" for my insulin. I got my first "Sorry about your bad luck" answer.... "We are all out of those." they said. I asked for another room (that might have a chiller that worked)... I got another, "We're all out of those too." At this point I should have just bailed out and found another hotel. However, I was there for a 3 day conference and the room was paid for by my employer. So I iced down my meds and "tried" to go to sleep, in my room, on the 9th floor, on the corner of W. Market St and S Alamo St. The sound of every cylinder, of every single rice burner, hotrod, crotch rocket and Harley Davidson thundered through that room... every 90 seconds as the light changed. I get it, this is downtown. However, as it turned out, the aforementioned construction site across the street had a building on it with an alarm that would go off every time a door went ajar... Well, it went ajar... all night long. There was no drowning that out. Maybe a half a nights sleep is all I got... Maybe. At 05:00 I packed my bags, checked out of the room and cancelling my remaining days. I had simply had more than enough... I went about my business for the conference there and afterwards, a few blocks up I found the PERFECT hotel. See my Yelp Review of... "The Drury Hotel." I had to use my personal credit card to pay for this room. My boss would have to reimburse me. UPDATE! **** On my way out of the conference, my boss called me. The third party booking agent billed my employer for all three days. Claiming I was there the whole time. I was told by my boss to go back to management to get this fixed before I leave town so he could return "my money" for the other hotel. "So what happened was" the young lady that checked me out and gave me the receipt showing with a zero balance on it, failed to set in motion communication to Travelocity that I had checked out early. There was a note that "I complained about an electrical issue." Not that they had completely failed to accommodate my medical needs or the unbearable noise. So the manager "Jennifer Navarro" asked me to get a receipt from the other hotel as proof to send to their accounting department, to get this taken off within a couple of hours through Travelocity (refunded to my boss.) So I had to walk several blocks back and forth to the Drury Hotel in 104 degree heat to plea my case to the very people who made the mistake. This was very insulting and embarrassing. When I returned, I was told Jennifer was in a meeting but they would take the receipts to her and it would still take about 2 hours to get it resolved and I could be on my way. I was told they would call me. Two hours later, I returned to the front desk to learn... NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE. PERIOD... (Zero, Zilch, Nada.) My receipt from the other hotel was still sitting on the desk. (BullPoo of the highest order.) I calmly and politely vented to the gals that work at the front desk that this whole situation was ABSOLUTELY NO FAULT OF MINE and again indicated that I had no intention of leaving until I got my money squared away. Two hours later as I sat in the lobby, no phone call from Jennifer Navarro, no one came to tell me anything. I returned to the front desk and asked about the progress? After a phone call. "Elvira" the night manager came to "help". She cheerfully offered a solution that ENTIRELY CONFLCITED with Jennifer Navarro's solution that I had already insultingly endured. One of the two managers was not telling me the truth... ALL I SAW WAS RED! I left without resolve. I left without getting "my money". Oh it might eventually work out. I learned not to trust a Hilton Branded Hotel. It's all BS Marketing. This hotel is a dump. This is the second "unresolved issue" I have had with a Hilton franchise licensed hotel over the past few years... IT WILL BE THE LAST! read more

There is also a bar area for some cold adult beverages as well as the restaurant which sits on the river level. There is also a piano bar that features an amazing piano player who is very knowledgeable with music. Staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are comfortable as well. You can get a room facing the city view or one with riverwalk views which you can enjoy from the balcony. read more

Great location on and access to the Riverwalk. Spacious rooms with good views and great in-room service. Beautiful historic southwest architectural style and decor. Restaurant on-site is good but has slow service. There aren't enough elevators given the number of rooms and floors when the hotel is full. You can wait a while for one. The music and entertainment on the Riverwalk is clearly heard until the wee hours of the night even if you're on a high floor, and if you're on the other side of the hotel you get woken up with 6am construction noises. The lobby bar is just weird. They say no outside food and drinks but they don't serve food there so....how would one eat there while having a drink? When it took 40 minutes to get served in the downstairs Cafe I left my credit card as I was racing out to get to a conference session upstairs. Though I was a guest at the hotel with the name on my card matching the name on my room and though my card also had the name of the company hosting a week-long conference there, no one in mgmt thought to contact me or my company about my credit card. They just locked it up with Lost & Found and it took me backtracking and two days to realize it was missing and where I had last used it. Seems like if service was better, someone could have added two and two together and contacted me in my room at the hotel! read more

Stayed here this past weekend. Hotel was very clean, and conveniently located to a lot of the action in SATX. Each room has a balcony, whether it be a city view or river view. The hotel is directly on the river and you can get to the river from the bottom floor. Restaurants, shops, and riverboats are conveniently nearby. We had a great stay and will gladly return. This hotel has a unique history which only adds to the experience staying here. Located in the river walk adjacent to La Villita and Hemisphere, it's got everything you need for a fun relaxing connected stay in downtown San Antonio. I've stayed here in the past for a conference and enjoyed the stay but had little time to enjoy the views and relax. All rooms have patios which make this a very unique experience most of the other hotels can not provide. Rich, warm decorating combined with solid staff add to the comfort. River Edge Cafe and Durty Nellys make great options for onsite dining. Valet parking was $35 a day. Easy access to the river walk. High speed elevators were a welcome change to our previous hotel stays in this trip. We stayed over the holiday with a river walk view. The weather was great and we had tons of fun. I'm already a Hilton fan but this property, though older feels very comfortable and well managed. read more

This is an older hotel but we loved it. The elevators do take forever and we ended up in the basement at one point with the staff lol. They were so nice and got us redirected. It's a lovely hotel overall. The location is great. Parking is pricey we only stayed overnight and I had a free night award so it was fine for us. I got an upgrade to a Riverwalk view with a balcony and it was amazing. We enjoyed it at night and got to listen to the music which stopped by 11pm actually so we slept like Champs! So it was Labor Day weekend and it was packed in downtown. We were there for my sons 8th bday. I want to say that the man who checked us in asked why we were there and I told him and he took my son out on the patio behind him and told him to pick his room on the river side. He was so amazing! Although the valet was a bit expensive, I was ensured of the safety!! Once I arrived, it was a very busy weekend, however, I even got to check in a little bit earlier being a rewards member so make sure to download that app! This Hotel is convenient for conferences because of its close walking distance. However, I unfortunately don't think things were up to the Hilton Brand. This is an older hotel, which I think is in desperate need of a makeover or at least a deep cleaning. The fixtures and everything felt outdated or perhaps it was to be "historical". The hotel felt dark, dirty, and grungy. My bathroom tub was nasty and the floor gosh dark carpet makes me wonder what is hiding. The staff was nice when I interacted with them for brief moments at check in and the AC did work in full force to help with humidity. I don't think I would choose to stay here again unless if they did upgrades or it was a situation where for conference meeting, this was the only availability. read more
