The only thing this hotel can boast are the common areas: lobby, fire pits, & bar area. The rooms look nice in the pictures, but what they don't show are the patched up bath tubs, grim and mold in the corners from bad housekeeping, greasy light switches, loose electrical sockets coming off the walls, and just overall dusty & dirty bathrooms. Oh,there are no towel bars so good luck with that. We were told the handicap room we reserved had a lower tub, when we got to the room, it had absolutely no tub. It was a standup shower for a wheelchair to toll into and the front desk girl lied right threw her teeth saying there were no other rooms available. After we told another front desk employee she miraculously found us a non-handicap room...ugh! Even though they got us another room, the customer service was horrible. No hospitality skills whatsoever. The valet guy was the only person who made an effort.Room service, we ordered 2 desserts and they only brought one silverware set... Really!? read more

The room was okay, but $20 per night for parking was unexpected and excessive. Also, the staff initially gave us a crappy small room without a bathtub. We requested another one since kids wanted to use bathtub, and they gave us one since the hotel was half empty, but we were offended nevertheless. We stayed here for our trip to Legoland, and it was probably a mistake. We just slept here without using any other amenities, and for that, some place like Holiday Inn Express closer to Legoland would have worked better, which we only found out when we stayed there for last night of our trip. read more

It was a very nice hotel but it is not for familys. if you are a couple with no kids this is a perfect hotel for you. On the other hand the rooms were beutiful they had a a very modern feel to them and very nice. The staff there was very helpful and kind. for an example when I got to my room after a meeting I wanted to turn on my tv but it was not working and I called the front desk and they sent some up to fix right away so that was wonder ful. I would come back there for business but not for a family vaction. read more

Not so much! You would expect more from a Hilton, the most I can say is thank god the room was clean and the linens were clean.

I stayed here for a week and really enjoyed my stay - made better with an upgrade, club access, and no parking fee. Hotel location is great, convenient to everything; however be warned that there's not much within walking distance just a few good restaurants. Food was good and service was friendly all-round. Everything has been recently renovated and the pool area looks great. Room was good as well, with the only fault being a very slow draining shower - but it was fixed within minutes of reporting it. Had a small patio too which was perfect for sitting in the morning with a cup of coffee. Will definitely be staying again and would recommend it! read more

I want to write a new review for the Hilton San Diego/Del Mar. I had made a reservation through an outside vendor for this hotel and cancelled the reservation. Unfortunately, there was a bit of miscommunication. I want to thank Karmina Valdez, Director of Guest Services for reaching out to me and for resolving the miscommunication. She was so helpful and kind. I would definitely recommend the Hilton after her follow-up with me. read more

I had to make sure to thank Desmar (hope I spelled his name correctly), who was part of the check-in staff on Friday, August 1st for accommodating our large wedding party and showing the utmost patience and professionalism for our drunk a*ses. Not only that, after his shift he went out of his way to introduce our guests from out of town places (bars) to visit in Del Mar where one of our friends had such a good time, he got arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. But that's another story. One of the most outstanding services that the Del Mar Hilton provides is a free shuttle that will take you within a five mile radius within the city of Del Mar. Since our wedding venue was at the Powerhouse Community Center off Coast Blvd and 15th st., we had over 20 guests that stayed at the hotel that were able to shuttle back and forth without the need to worry about driving around intoxicated. Even one of our friends' wives felt so comfortable with the shuttle staff she hopped in the driver's seat and tried to drive back to the hotel herself. Again, because of the utmost professionalism of the shuttle staff overall, they decided it was best to let themselves do the driving. Needless to say, the Del Mar Hilton saved our group hundreds of dollars in fare costs. Thanks again to the accommodating front desk and shuttle staff, and if I could recommend an employee of the year, it would be Desmar. read more

Hilton DelMar is where my family and I have stayed the last five plus years as we come to the fair yearly. This year we checked in on Sunday the 9 th of June and have had the worst time with our room and the caring of the front desk to make sure things are done. An example would be the ice machine being out on our floor since the 9th, maintenance is suppose to be fixing it still as I write this it is not fixed. Second example is a dirty sheer curtain in our room looks like something was spilt or touched on it, again I asked front desk to have it changed since Sunday the 9th and again it finally got changed today the 15th. My twins have slept in a bed with totem sheets since Sunday and it is stated that sheets are changed every three days, obviously not true the got changed today the 15th also. We asked for a roll away for my special needs son and we checked in at 3:30pm and he goes to bed at 8 pm. We had to call front desk several times to finally get the bed at 8:30 pm. Yesterday the 14th walk down to front desk spoke with the manager on duty and made a complaint about how disappointed I was at staying at this Hilton and the service we have received. She said the room would be made by 12 pm on the 15th. We left the hotel at 10:30 to return at 2:50 pm and as you can guess the room was not made up. Very disappointed and will not and would not recommend this sloppy, not taken care of hotel "Hilton" to anyone. read more

We set up a room block and the post-day brunch for our September wedding and it was great. We worked with Lyndee and she was amazing. She was very attentive and got back to me whenever I had questions and was very accommodating. The day after brunch was awesome and the food was great. When we got to the Hilton, the morning of, everything was set up and our guest had a great time. My mother did forget her jewelry box in the room and when we called the front desk after we got home they said that they hadn't found the box. I would give the room block and the brunch 5 stars but am taking away one of the stars because her jewelry box was not turned in. read more

We booked a little "Stay-cation" at the Del Mar Hilton last weekend to celebrate our anniversary, (Thanks Yolanda for your help). The room was very spacious and I thought the bed was super comfortable. What struck me as superb customer service, was every employee from the front desk to the house keeping staff were very friendly and acknowledged us with a cheerful greeting and offer to assist. We were prepared to take an Uber down to watch the sunset, but the front desk (sorry I didn't catch his name) told us about the FREE shuttle within 5 miles. Our driver (Steven) was very friendly, obviously loved his job, and was a pleasure. Looking forward to another visit to the Del Mar Hilton. read more

No movies are available in the rooms! No video on demand. This property discontinued their video on demand service presumably to save money. The hotel manager told us they expect their guests will bring their own DVD movies and play them on their iPads or stream their own Netflix movies to their iPad and watch movies on the small 9 inch iPad monitor even though we had a 24 inch wide screen TV in our room. Hilton Del Mar only offers local TV channels, Showtime, and HBO. But they don't provide any channel guide so there is no way to know what's playing on TV. The manager told us that we just have to surf the channels to find something to watch. What a total waste of time! Room service food was over cooked and dried out. We called house keeping to have our room cleaned at 7am when we were leaving for half a day, but it was never cleaned. We had to empty our own trash and search the halls for the cleaning cart to get our own fresh towels & soap. Their renovation appears nice cosmetically, but they lack the basic amenities one expects from a hotel. Thanks to the Hilton San Diego/Del Mar, it was not a fun weekend. We couldn't wait to return home! read more

4 stars for being pet friendly with a good location close to everything. but 3 stars for food

Stayed at this hotel for a conference that was being held in the attached conference center. Arrived late in the evening and was checked in and to my room in no time. The room is very comfortable and I was able to sleep soundly. I was not here long enough to comment on the location, as my business activities were located on the premises. However, I will say that travel from the airport took almost 30 minutes via taxi and, for being so far out of the city and fairly secluded, is quite the rip off to charge for parking. The pool area and surrounding patio is inviting and a nice touch to the property. I had to return home one day early due to a family emergency and the staff handled my situation extremely well. I checked out well after the posted check out time but they did not charge me for the extra day. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone who had a need to stay in this area, which is quite far from downtown San Diego and the airport. read more

Great stay! Called on my way over from LA, had a wedding at 4pm and was worried about check in. I think check in was 3pm? But when I explained the situation they were very nice about accomodating us and had a room ready when we arrived. Employees at the valet were very helpful as well. Room was a good size. We ordered room service while getting ready and the food came up quickly. Over all very happy with our stay. read more

My family and I went down this past weekend to enjoy some time in the San Diego area and go to the racetrack. From the moment we were checked in by Khara , we knew this would be a great experience at this hotel as she was courteous in the care and manner she took to check us in and situate us in the hotel. The hotel was clean and the room exceeded our expectations , we immediately took advantage upon check in of the pool and a few of the Jacuzzi on the grounds. Next morning after getting up early for a morning swim the gates were not opening to the pool area but Khara quickly remedied that and within a minute I was swimming my laps in the pool before indulging, with my family, in the hotels excellent breakfast buffet. Upon check out I was concerned with getting out of the parking lot after the horse races but Khara, again came to my rescue, because I was checking out and I would not have a keycard to exit , Khara got me a validation ticket and we were set. Also appreciate the shuttle that took us to and from the track with very little waiting, thank you. read more

The staff here is AWESOME! They were so friendly, and went above and beyond any expectations I had while staying here. The rooms are great too. Lots of room and really clean.Although a little smelly in the hallways. But other Than that, it's great here! The front desk receptionist Carrie was super friendly. She met above our needs to accommodate us to a new room under a little mishap with a maid. The bell hop, Christopher helped us with all our luggage to a completely different side of the hotel and was super nice too. There's a bar an restaurant lounge and the bar tender Chris is great!! So much fun and knows how to make a good cocktail! I highly recommend staying here. The extremely friendly and VERY helpful staff makes up for the nightly parking fee that I took one star off for. :) read more

Great location and amenities. Angela Menchaca | Front Office Supervisor was extremely helpful to my wife and I when we needed rooms for our family on short notice because our other reservations didn't come through. Again, another awesome stay at the hotel. The managers, Tony and Mike make us feel like old friends rather than paying guests. We stayed for work last time and had to come back. Had no problem paying (on our dime) this time as the service and hotel were great. read more

My family and I enjoyed the hotel so much during the last week of December. Staff was great. Rooms were clean and nice.

I'd be lying if I told you I remembered much from this weekend, a bunch of us were in town for a wedding and the weekend blurred together. What I do remember is how incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable the concierge Jennifer was. She was on point and top of her game every time we saw her, and her infectious smile instantly brightened all of our days. Easily the nicest and most congenial concierge I have had the pleasure of working with. She is the best asset this hotel has, and they would be wise to keep her there at all costs! read more

I am so sad we have to check out today of this beautiful hotel we originally had some issues little ones mind you but KERRY the front desk manager was so kind and so sweet and just so helpful this hotel has so much around it and it's such a beautiful city. The whole reason we came down here was to take our 3 year to sea world which is when our little issues came up Kerry was so sweet she solved our issues and treated us and gave us so much more then we deserved! I seriously can't get over how kind her and her staff were I highly recommend this hotel and our room was gorgeous! Thank you so much Kerry for making our stay amazing and your staff are also amazing read more

Before booking a room at this hotel, I was reading mixed reviews about the service and quality of the hotel. I have to be honest after staying the night I've had nothing but friendly courtesy staff, an enjoyable end of the night spent outside by one of the hotel's fire pits, and a great night sleep in a clean comfortable room. Very happy that we picked this hotel in Del Ray read more

I would recommend people to not stay at this hotel. First of all---way high price for a place with broken air conditioning, the breakfast was terrible---the fruit tasted off, and unlike some hotels that I have been too, they won't let you bring your food up to your room, and then go back down for seconds...really pathetic---for 200 dollars a night--it's the most observed thing in my entire life that I ever heard of. I have to most hotels where they would actually allow you to get seconds, even if you go up to your room with the food you paid for. I was hoping that the hotel would give me half off for one of the nights due to the fact that my room was hot and the beds were like sleeping on a rock. The bed was so stiff, and could not sleep, due to how stiff they were. A comp breakfast is nice n all, if the breakfast was actually good. Unfortunately, the break was terrible. The muffins were hard to chew, it was as if I was eating sandpaper (no offense), and should be heated up before serving, the bacon was some what cooked---but not all the way through....I guess that's why the parking lot was half full....They also charge $10 for parking....sometimes, most hotels have a included parking within a hotel package. Overall, the service was good, but not telling people that the water was off before checking, and the air conditioning was not working by the time I went my room, I had to call the front desk, and then waited for 45min until someone came up to the room to fix it....Such a hassle. I would let all of you know---don't stay here---trust me---get your money worth somewhere else. read more

Fabulous customer service and excellent product. My thanks to Ben the Mgr and your staff. Enterprise is lucky to have you guys.

I just spent 2 nights at this property on a business trip and wouldn't say it was the best stay. Rooms were clean and comfortable, but the support part of the property was lacking. The first afternoon i came went to the bar and had to search to find someone to tend .. i even went to the front desk trying to get assistance, and was told they "would be back soon"! This type of service continued throughout the week, very slow service, i'm not sure if they were short staffed, but we had a large organization having their semi-annual conference and they didn't seem to staff adequately. Also, had a lot of fly's in the bar both nights. It wouldn't be my first choice in the future. read more

Stay away from this hotel, suffered the worst experience at this location and the nonchalant attitude displayed by the staff only added insult to injury. Upon arrival staff refused to upgrade our room although we are Hilton Honors Members, had to request assistance from management to get the issue resolved. On the day after check-in had the following issues: 1. Coffee Maker was broken. 2. Balcony screen broken. 3. Wiring in the room was so old many of the channels had "no signal". 4. Room clock had the incorrect time and cannot be changed by the guest, required calling for maintenance to change the time. 5. Business Center printer was out of ink and although it took more than 15 minutes for staff to make the replacement they had the audacity to act like I was the inconvenience. 6. Electrical outlets on the left side of the room didn't work and the reset was to no avail. 7. "Free" Wi-Fi constantly dropped connection. If you should come across an opportunity to stay at Hilton San Diego/Del Mar RUN, DON'T WALK in the other direction. Your stay at this hotel will be nothing less than an awful NIGHTMARE! STAY AWAY for your own good.... Happy to share my experience with the hope I saved at least one person from a nightmarish trip. read more

This was our first stay at a "Hilton" and I was left unimpressed by the hospitality. Request for a room change was met with cold answers, despite the rooms being available. I had booked this using Travelzoo vouchers and they charge a hefty $75 in taxes for a 4-night stay, which I didn't see coming. The room was okay but for a "King deluxe" I was supposed to get, it was well below average. The only bright side was the service at the breakfast and coastal kitchen. But I am certainly not going back there even if I were to get a good deal. read more

Purchased a living social deal with this hotel. I always read the fine print to know if it can be cancelled, transfered or rebooked. I think that a business has the right to do that if it's clearly posted in the fine print. This hotel did not have any restrictions in theirs which made me happy to purchase it and select a date for travel. When I called and wanted to gift my stay to a family member, I was told that I would lose it because it was booked thru living social. What?? Who cares if I stay there or my sister does. My name had to match the person staying. Who cares if it's me sleeping there or my friend?! So after being put on hold for 10 mins to review the website. ...Ann says that it was stated in the conf email. Yeah after i hit the purchase button. This is misrepresentation of a deal. Hotel was very nice, staff was very friendly, would definitely stay again, if I were ever to return to San Diego. Very clean almost flawless, my mirror in the bathroom had a chip in it. Pools heated and they have towels by the pool. The kitchen staff were friendly, food was expensive, but the guy Micah who waited on us was friendly, knowledgeable, and cute too!! read more

I attended a conference here and while I didn't book a room (since I'm local) I want to compliment the super helpful staff. Derek was especially helpful and went out of his way to make sure I got what I needed. Thanks! read more

Pretty average, really nothing special except the staff. From the manager to the cocktail waitress, they all had great attitiudes and were fun to interact with. Room was run down, carpet frayed and the flatscreen tv was way past its prime. I was with a group so the price was almost reasonable but certainly not a bargain. Probably my one and only time there. read more

I recently stayed at this Hotel from August 7th-9th, 2015. I must say my stay is ALWAYS pleasurable! The staff is always great! There is one gentleman by the name of "Desmond" who always go above and beyond to make my check in, and stay comfortable. He is always professional, knowledgeable, polite, neat in appearance, outgoing, and you can tell he takes his job and position very serious! I notice how he interacts with other customers, and his personality and professionalism is the same towards everyone. Every time I check in, I always ask is he working. Stayed here this past weekend for a get away with my boyfriend to come to the track and visit some friends. Awesome location, close to the track, Cedros, Del Mar, etc. Very clean room and responsive staff. Had a great old fashion in the bar too! Just got back from a long weekend in Del Mar visiting my husband's family. Our room was very clean and the house keeping staff was efficient every day. We really enjoyed grabbing drinks at the bar and lounging by the pool, which however crowded seemed really clean (I really appreciate clean!). Room was basic, definitely not a luxury resort, but a really nice Hilton with everything we needed for a fun visit. Rates were definitely high but the proximity to the track can't be beat and we definitely loved being able to walk! read more

these rooms should not be more than $140.00 ever, price line should be $50- $70 all in .... hotel right next to a freeway so you can't open the windows, a/c has to be on which makes a terrible noise ... very poor for a hotel of this so called quality. small bathroom with an extractor fan that sounds like a jumbo taking off, again very poor for a hotel in this price range. very 1980's style furniture ... the building has as much architectural integrity as a motel 6 in modesto. UGLY ! How can Hilton have their name on this????? took for ever to walk from the lobby to my room ... I'm nit picking here, but its annoying to say the least. as is typical with these hotels, no option for street parking so they can nail you with a parking fee too, another $15.00 no doubt wi-fi is extra too .... i'm sick of these older hotels with their 3.5 star ratings it's a total cone game. the leaf blower at 8:15am outside my window that went on for literally 45 mins was a nice touch too , what are they thinking ??? on the positive side, they did change my room to one with a quieter a/c unit etc but still way too loud to have the window open for fresh air. staff at check in desk very nice & friendly too. fitness room is a joke.... just a couple of treadmills & elliptical trainers with a rack of free weights . read more

I booked a weekend getaway for my boyfriend and I. The staff was great! blake checked us in super friendly and fast gave us a nice corner room close to where we had parked my car, so it was easy to grab the few small bags we had brought with us. We then walked down to front desk and asked about dinning options and the shuttle to the beach. The guys and girl who drove the shuttle super friendly and fast we never had to wait very long for them to pick us up maybe 10 minutes max not a big deal. Everyone was so helpful and nice made the weekend a wonderful getaway. The only thing that stops me from a 5 star rating is the night we decided to eat in the resturant on property, my boyfriend ordered soup It was COLD when we got the food he ate it as he never sends anything back to the kitchen, I had to ask for my avacado and ranch after my burger was brought to me. The patty on the burger was like a frozen patty and tough. Also there was an out of control wedding party who ruined our eveing at the firepit, secuirty had to shut down the whole patio because of the wedding party. We enjoyed everything about the weekend except the bar food and wedding party craziness. The manager on duty was kind enough to take a moment with me before we checked out and speak with me about my concerns, she also showed me a suite as we plan to return to delmar and stay again. Overall Its a great place to stay and I couldnt have been happier with the service from the staff , the room and everything the property has to offer, Id book there again in a heart beat. read more

I don't know why people rate this hotel so low. I will tell you what a four star hotel is all about--SERVICE. I live in the area and have stayed here on multiple occasions always with excellent results. Friday night on labor day weekend was unusual. I was displaced from home and booked an airbnb for the month of September. I arrived and the bed was broken. At midnight I had to try to find a hotel--and you can't get them online because it's after midnight and booking options no longer include the night of. I called the Del Mar Hilton, was guaranteed one of their last rooms, arrived 1/2 hour later with a headache and was quickly given a key, a couple bottles of water, excellent friendly service, and even a few laughs. Despite fully booked the next day for the holiday they gave me a late checkout and graciously went to get my bags and hold them because I was far away at checkout time. Superior service--consistently. read more

Outstanding stay! We decided to mix things up and stay in Del Mar instead of San Diego, we booked via Orbitz for a great price and stayed in a poolview room with a balcony. The room was HUGE compared to others we've stayed in. The front desk staff and housekeeping were extremely friendly and practiced the 5 foot rule which is very rare these days! The pool and grounds were beautiful and clean. There seemed to be a shortage of pool towels, but I can't blame the hotel 100% for that as guests were leaving their towels on the chairs when they were done instead of throwing them in the "pool towels" bin. As for the the complaints about the drinks/food prices, you're paying for convienience. BYOB next time and your pool visit will be much better :) Only downside to the room is that the screen door was off the track so we couldn't close it. Overall a great stay, SUPER close to the beach and we will definitely be staying here again! read more

The worst experience I have ever had in 61 years at a hotel!!!! Not even a motel 6 would treat guests as they did our group. They were wrong in how they handled an issue we had and told us if our group of 12 wanted to leave "good luck with that it's Friday night " is what the manager and director told us! The incident scared the kids and nothing was done or said to comfort our group except go somewhere else on a Friday night. If we had started the whole problem we would understand, but they allow other guests to beat on their shuttle vans and cuss at other guests and cuss at children and say it's my against the law??? We were there for a family reunion and Hilton dropped the ball on this one. We spent over $2000 on rooms and this is how they fixed it! I will never stay at Hilton again! And I will make sure others who want to stay at one to perhaps think of going somewhere else. They were wrong wrong wrong! It was amazing how many guest and staff workers saw it and could not believe Hilton treated us this way when it was not our fault!! Hilton ruined our family reunion. read more
