The packaging is also beautiful, but if you just want cookies for you or to make goodie bags save a little money and get the bagged cookies vs boxed ones. Then we jumped in a big van and not only learned about the farm but had two waterfall stops that were the highlight of the trip. It could really have been called a waterfall farm tour. There were two pavilions overlooking two different waterfalls (Rainbow Falls and I think Waiau Stream) both from the private property side so you normally wouldn't get this view. They had bug spray but plan for mosquitoes by the waterfall lookout, cause you know...lots of water = a few mosquitoes haha. We got to taste the best Starfruit, Longan (my favorite and the perfect depth of flavor that I grew up with on the Big Island...no other longan can beat it), raw Mac nuts and 70% chocolate nibs!! We had the best snacks. Also tasted oranges, got to sniff a curry leaf, and see the fresh cloves and mace on spice row. Our tour guide Kent was awesome, maximized our time at the waterfalls, and took some cool group photos. I only thing that would have made it better would have been to pick fruit to take home. I need to come back when the other fruits like lychee are in season but honestly longan is my fav. I've been buying OK Farms fruit from Safeway and love it but nothing like eating fresh at the farm. Also picked up those chocolate nibs at the store, longan to go, Ola moisturizer, shortbread cookies, starfruit, and a few more fabulous things.

It was spent in a small van instead of a giant bus, and I believe that facilitated obtaining the information and experiencing the island in the unique ways by which we, as a small group, connected with our surroundings. As someone who loves to take friends around my home towns, I appreciated Tara's perspective and love for sharing about her home with visitors. No matter how prevalent social media is, there are just some spots that only locals know about, and Tara definitely has the scoop on the Big Island. Upon entering, we were happily greeted with samples! It had four flavors in a cup- chocolate, honey, sea salt and garlic. There's a sample table with more varieties to try- and they were very generous and let me sample as many as I asked for. They also had free coffee samples from a local Hilo roaster. I ended up getting a few gifts for friends. The nature walk outside is pretty- I had no clue some of the fruits that grew looked like that. You can even see the macadamia nuts on the trees before they're harvested and roasted. Overall- great experience!

If not, venture on over to the visitor center. There's free parking and clean bathrooms, plus if you have children you could kill a couple of hours in the outside self guided tour. They also sell some simple lunches and ice cream with an outdoor seating area where you can watch an informational video. There's an employee giving out free samples of multiple types of the Mac nuts. I did learn that the Hawaiian Host brand is their sister company.

He has made Hawai'i my favorite of the islands. My only complaint about the tour has nothing to do with him, but with scheduling. Roxy was our tour guide and was probably the most knowledgeable and professional tour guide we have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Roxy was knowledgeable in the history of volcanoes on Hilo and elsewhere, horticulture, bird species, animals, Hawaiian culture, tourist attractions, history of the Hawaiian Islands, tribes and Capt. Cook, beaches, teachings, burial practices and so much more. Roxy told stories of the early days in Hawaii and how it evolved. Also as a noted her driving and safety practices were impeccable. If you are planning to come to Hilo you must make it a point to reach out to Roxy. My wife and I came here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary/late honeymoon, and we could not have DREAMED of a better experience! Emily and Court were such gracious hosts and you can immediately tell how much love they put into this place. The cottages were absolutely PERFECT, equipped with a mini fridge, WiFi and a smart TV, and a ceiling fan for temperature control. The shower was fantastic, and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud! The resort itself was STUNNING, with beautiful lush greenery as far as the eye can see. We found ourselves easily able to fall asleep to the sounds of nature every night. It was so wonderful to be able to unplug and just enjoy the sounds of the forest around us, and the rain falling. Unbelievably relaxing! If you've never been to Hawaii before, the weather changes pretty frequently. It rained every day we were there, but only for about 30 minutes or so. Definitely don't worry about getting rained out on vacation, because if you drive even just a few minutes down the road it'll be clear skies and sunshine! All of Emily's recommendations were spot on! She really knows her stuff and I felt like we had an inside source to all the best spots on the island - the ones only known to locals. The handmade breakfasts every morning were to die for, Court is an exceptionally talented chef - seriously Michelin star quality food that was breathtaking to look at and some of the most delicious food I've ever tasted! Not to mention everything comes from their own garden! I myself am not vegan but every meal we had was filling and absolutely DELICIOUS. A VERY special shout-out to Naomi the massage therapist! If this area is also where you can sample the different blends. When the tour started we gathered outside and there were quite a large number of people. We have one guide and she was very nice a knowledgable about the farm and the coffee making process. She spoke about the family, how it was started, the amount of different types of trees that is grown: mango, lychee, papaya, avocado, and bananas. They even have black peppercorn which we were able to sample and how it tastes different. Their roasting process was well explained. Bottom line, to be deemed Kona Coffee - it needs to be grown on Kona soil. It is too bad we couldn't get close to the coffee trees cause the bride was damaged due the bad flooding that occurred early in the year. The campus is beautiful and of course we bought some coffee. When we return to Hawaii, I would like to go back here if the bridge is repaired.

She engaged with a multi-national (and multi-generational, and multi-linguistic) group with energy and humor and we had a blast listening to her. I learned quite a bit! I admit that sampling hot coffee on a 90-degree day under direct sun was perhaps not ideal, but I'd never had a chance to try peaberry coffee and I'm glad I did. The tours run every half hour and take about 45 minutes or so. They travel down, and then up, a modest incline. Since the farm is on the west of the island, tours later in the day will experience more direct sun. It was very hot and very humid, but there are shady stops in the first part of the tour. Sunscreen, a hat, breathable clothing, and plenty of water will see you through it. I might consider going back once they've repaired the bridge washed out by the March 2026 floods. The coffee itself is pricey, as you might expect, but it's the real deal.
