We cannot say enough good things about the community at Woodland School. From the moment we began…read morethe admissions process, we felt like more than just another application. The Admissions Director, Melanie, is truly exceptional. She went above and beyond to support our family, showing incredible flexibility and genuine care throughout the process. Beyond the administration, the school itself is impressive. We fell in love with the beautiful, sprawling outdoor campus--it's such a rare and refreshing environment for kids to learn in. One of the most striking things we noticed was how confident and articulate the students are; their comfort with public speaking is clearly a testament to the school's curriculum. We also spent a lot of time admiring the Maker Lab, which is easily one of the best we've seen. While our family's personal circumstances shifted and we couldn't enroll this year, Woodland remains at the top of our list for any family looking for a balanced, high-achieving, and supportive environment

Absolutely terrible terrible school. If I could give it 0 I would. The years I spent here were the…read moreworst in my entire life. None of the teachers want to be here they are all underpaid and regularly complain about their salary. While I was there I would consistently hear teachers say "I can't answer that that's above my pay grade" or joke about how they can't afford to pay for anything. Many of them were just bullies and put no effort into teaching us. The teachers also have no control over the students with classes being so hectic that lesson plans would get put on pause. If you are a smart student you won't be challenged here, if your a student with learning disabilities you will get NO support. The campus is laughably small and unclean. The buildings are in horrible condition with middle schoolers learning in portable classrooms. In my opinion it kind of feels like they just added the middle school on in the 80's to make more money. The food is horrible but the kids are even worse.

Carla was incredibly professional and responsive from the very start. She answered all my questions and provided detailed information right away, making the entire setup process smooth and stress-free. The tutoring sessions are held via Zoom, and Carla (or sometimes one of her team members) works one-on-one with your student, accommodating your child's schedule. What really stood out to me is how much care they put into understanding what your child needs. The approach is highly personalized, with a clear goal of setting students up for long-term success. It's also very clear that Carla is passionate about what she does--and based on both my experience and the many other glowing reviews, she's also truly excellent at it. My only regret is not finding this service sooner. Bottom line, highly recommended.

There are so many things I am navigating as a parent and I definitely want to focus on what's most important. I met Janet before our 504plan meeting and her insight as a parent and a former teacher really helps me to focus on what's most important. She also coaches my son to speak up for himself. It's always good when you have an experienced and understanding partner at your side practically and mentally. She has taken the anxiety out of writing, teaching him that it doesn't need to be perfect, and helping him learn to organize and develop his thoughts on the page. This is our kid who couldn't write more than 2 sentences two years ago and who couldn't write without panicking. Those blockers that previously held him back aren't showing up at all now, and he has only ever seen his work with Janet as a fun part of his week. It never felt like "tutoring" at all.

His…read morethen math teacher had told our son that he wasn't good at math and that "it's okay to not be good at math. Not everyone is good at math". This affected his confidence a great deal. As it turns out, our son is actually quite good at math but had lost the confidence to perform well. Julian worked closely with him and helped build his confidence in his academic abilities. Julian was also instrumental in our son doing well on the high school entrance exams (ISEE and HSPT) resulting in many excellent choices for highschool. We have been so impressed with Julian, his ability to connect with his students and find the best study tools, techniques and methods that work for the specific individual. Our son stayed with Julian through highschool and had periodic sessions for classes or subject matter that he found challenging. He also worked with Julian on college entrance exams and did very well on his ACT. We are grateful for the academic support that Julian provided to our son over the years who is now thriving and doing well at a prominent UC.
