COULD NOT ASK FOR BETTER ! We just closed on our new home (11/22/17) and needed to rent a U-Haul Truck for two different days, I secured the rentals on the U-Haul Website (Which is a horrible site) and called Hilltop Self Storage to verify those rentals. The young lady I spoke to did not see those rentals on their computer reservation system and took my name, number and I also emailed her my confirmations from U-Haul, she was going to research and get back to me. I did get a call back and she was simply a lifesaver, she explained what must have happened on U-Hauls reservation system and she went above and beyond on helping me, which was so greatly appreciated. Both occasions U-Haul messed up my reservation and both times she was able to correct it for me (Thank You). I would recommend calling Hilltop Self Storage Directly and avoid the U-Haul Website ! Please note that this had nothing to do with Hilltop Self Storage but a problem directly with U-Haul. The location of the facility is perfect, right on 94 and provides easy access to all points from there. I arrived on-time both times, walked right in and was cheerfully greeted and made to fill welcomed and appreciated. I did get the chance to meet the young lady who helped me on the phone and thanked her. She took her time to explain everything I needed to know about my truck rental and made sure I was being charged the right pricing, which was appreciated. I returned the trucks back here and it was easy to park in the area assigned for the trucks. I spoke to her about the possibility that we will eventually rent a small space there since we our new home is very close by. She showed me the units size and I am very, very impressed on how clean and new these storage units look. The price was in my opinion very nice ! The facility is very secure and we will indeed be back to rent a space when we get unpacked. I highly recommend giving them a call for a U-Haul or Storage Space, you will be impressed ! read more

Run as fast as you can from this place. They charge double what other places charge locally. Make a few phone calls and save yourself a lot of money. read more

Beware!!! I stored my travel trailer here for 5 months and when we had the last snow storm my trailer was hit by the snow plow. It knocked it off the tongue jack and onto the front stabilizers. No one called me when this happened. They only made excuses and even said they did not plow back there. Later they admitted the plow truck was back there when I questioned the piles of snow and gravel on the other side of my trailer. I took my trailer to Hanover RV to get inspected(amazing place)! I asked Hilltop to review the video and they told me they could not see anything since they do not have cameras that cover the back lot. Also they only keep 9 days of video. Doreen said get it inspected and let us know what damages they find and what resolution I was looking for. I called her said I covered expenses I just wanted a full refund and cancel my contract. I said I do not feel comfortable having my trailer at their location. I paid for the entire year upfront since they gave me a discount. I was also told if I canceled my contract for any reason they would refund me the unused months. She call me back said owner agreed to refund. When I came to pick up check it was only my payments for January 2021 to June 2021 and not a complete refund. She said owner said that was the refund. I asked to speak to owner she said he will call me. The General Manager called me and said we gave you your money back. I said not all of it and he said we are not giving you all of it back. We don't ever give people there money back. I said why would your employee tell me different. He said she should not have done that. He said we are a storage company and we are not a trailer storage lot we have a gravel lot that's it. I asked him about the security footage only keeping 9 days and he said it was too expensive to keep 30 days unless you are a huge company. I asked again if he was going to make the situation right and he said no that's what your insurance is for. He acted like they did me a favor by giving me my own money back. The staff at the New Oxford/Hanover facility are outstanding. They have been very polite and personable. When we were last there, we apparently did not engage our lock properly and through their daily exterior inspections, they found our lock open and called us to let us know. That's service!! They take their customers' security seriously. We just rented an additional unit from them. read more

I moved to a 3rd floor apartment so I wanted to take my time moving my stuff. I decided to rent a storage unit half way between my previous home and work. I began moving mid March planning to move stuff to storage quickly and then gradually move in possibly taking as long as the end of May. I went to the location on April 13th to find substantial water on the floor and water dripping down my totes and water sitting on the lids of two totes clearly indicating that the roof had been leaking. I then had to move everything over the next two days to avoid my clothing becoming moldy whilst also suffering from a flu-like illness (i.e., I should have been in bed resting.) I asked for the balance of April to be refunded which the owner has agreed to. HOWEVER, he explained that this was simply condensation from the changing humidity. That is an offense to my intelligence. Please do not rent a unit there, there are plenty of other companies and locations, and I have rented at several, without ever having this issue. The owner is being disingenuous. I rented unit C3. I would not want to be there when the people renting units D3 in back or C2 & C4 to the sides open theirs next time. read more
