This place is set in a beautifully treed and landscaped grounds and offers a lovely environment for the campers to enjoy their time both inside and outside. The gallery portion has an ongoing exhibits year round and they have artist workshops and studios where they offer classes throughout the year. We are very happy to have found this place and will return for a stroll and to explore their other programs.

The welcoming staff and teachers appear to be caring and competent. It is well organized and the enrollment / registration staff are responsive and attentive. For children's classes, all materials and supplies are included. My child really seems to enjoy the class and the teachers! For adults, materials lists are provided. There are classes in photography, painting, drawing, watercolor, etc for both beginners and more advanced students. So far a very positive experience. Highly recommended!

This isn't a professional school where respected people in the fields teach you so you can become artists. It's more like some skilled people give you knowledge on techniques to help you discover your new hobby. This isn't just school where they offer painting lessons but also available are photography, stage performance arts and so on and such. All instructors I've had are inspiring, caring and kind albeit their fake encouragements and rushed attitudes. They make sure everything is understood and help you develop artistic senses, and find areas where you can improve. What came off as disappointment is that they were not willing to engage in interesting discussions because they have to stick to schedule. Classes are very small but it is perfect for people who have school or work during daytime, and enrolment fees won't break the bank, so might as well take it lightly instead of a serious school where you learn to become artists. I took various painting and drawing classes and photography lessons, with which I am happy as I became knowledgable with those activities but there were some cancelled classes time to time. And sometimes classes are boring as not many people are enrolled and instructors would end early where he would not know what to do with remaining time.

The cost of the class is $25/ per person and the length of the class will be dependent on the number of students per class. There were 8 of us, and we were lucky to go 6 times on the trapeze. I initially did not think I could hang upside down, however it's very safe and you receive instruction while in air. I would highly recommend this class, and would suggest this for a date night. This way, you can see how your date fairs under stress ;)

Basic for us anyway. There were a few participants there that seemed to be regulars because the instructors gave them more complicated instructions, which seems great! They had an vested interest in our success and instilled a sense of hard work and fun into our education. When our son was to start JK this past year we looked at a number of public and private schools to find something that mirrored our experience. We were very lucky to have stumbled upon Olivet. The sense of community, strong emphasis on being a good kind person, small class size and importance placed on outdoor learning had our attention. We went for a tour and were welcomed with open arms. In a city like Toronto and the large class sizes in our public schools with so much attention in "checking" boxes and treating all children the same we were very happy and impressed with the culture and principles practised at Olivet. I strongly encourage any family contemplating an alternative to public school to invest the time to tour Olivet. We are very happy with our decision and our daughter will be attending once it is her turn.

We love this place so much! We have been coming here to hike for years and last year, we finally…read moredecided to enroll my then 8 year old in their full day summer camp. I can't say enough great things about the staff and the counselors here. The summer camps are run 100% outdoors (unless it rains and they move the kids inside) with incredible 2 counselors to 4 kids per cohort ratio. On non rainy days, kids get to sit outside on a carpet under the tent for various activities and crafting. Each week is themed (insects, aquatic species...etc) and the kids learn about the ecosystem surrounding the Rouge Valley which is a great way to spend a day for a kid. We'll continue to support this wonderful center and hope more people learn about them as well!

The average rating discussed overall for…read morethis school is highly elevated by what seems to be a fascination for its ARCHITECTURE, which should not even be a consideration. The original OCA had a well deserved reputation as a art school before 1970, when students actually gained valuable skills and professors believed they should pay attention to their students and offer real training. Sadly at that time, the traditional concept was abandoned in favour of embracing a "free school" format. Teachers, except for a very few, just stopped teaching and became "advisors." If students asked for more, they were told they wanted to be spoon-fed. But this is NOT a graduate school - the students coming into first year do need instruction. There is a serious disconnect that ultimately short-changes the young people who enrol, believing the somehow sustained reputation that the school boasts but does not support.
