Well hello everyone! It's been some time since I wrote a review on anything. This needs a review! Don't waste your hard earned money! 32.00 for nine of the worst manicured holes I have ever played! Now I remember why I quit playing this course right years ago. You Will have to reposition your ball to find some playable grass on just about every shot. Whether you're down the middle or not. The greens were the only decent spots on the course. I wouldn't refer this course to Steve Wonder! read more

Run by the most miserable staff possible, they don't want you there and make it clear with every interaction. 15+ years of the same old mustached guy doing his best to chase golfers away. Dog track too, rough is a joke and no fairway. Don't bother, plenty of better options. read more

This used to be a good track and I was sad to see it slipping downhill. The e trance to the parking lot is horrible. The parking lot it not good. The clubhouse is tired and needs an update. The course condition is getting bad. The range is eh. I like the layout. It's tight and not a grip it and rip it course. Water in great spots and bunkers strategically placed. The fairways are not great. Basically it's just grass cut shorter and the soil is a bit rough and not right like a fairway should be. Same with the greens. They don't roll very well. The service is ok. On Sunday morning the woman working the counter was just unfriendly. The starter was decent and the guy working the bar was ok too. Just feels unfriendly. Not sure I'll be back unless they make an upgrade. read more

Poor management. Don't honor tee times, seems like they let anyone walk up without a tee time and just jam them in. Sounds great in theory but usually makes for a 5 hour round any time I visit. One morning had a 835 tee time. We show up, pay, and at 830, there were not exaggerating a total of 10 carts waiting to play on the first tee. Just don't even advertise taking tee times if you aren't going to honor them. Then the starter had the balls to yell at a group that was about to tee off amongst the 10 carts that they couldn't take a breakfast ball since they were backed up. Course is owned and ran by a bunch of old people who seem to have ties together as a family or family friends, and they for sure do usually act like a bunch of grumpy old people (and I respect my elders, but these people do not deserve your respect). On top of the previously mentioned, the tee boxes are never cut / almost feel like the first cut in a normal fairway or even longer. The fairways often look more like rough than a fairway. You can imagine how long the rough sometimes is from there, since they don't cut anything. Have never seen the greens roll faster than a 7 on the stimp. Only go here if you literally have no other options to play, and don't expect any sort of professionalism in terms of tee times, but there are a couple people who are decent to deal with there. Fun little course with some real beautiful holes. I'd play here anytime. Greens aren't great but passable. Nice people running it.

The entrance is so dumpy and run down looking from the road that I wasn't even sure I was in the right place. This course is in sorry shape and poorly maintained. The greens are dry, the grass is sparse and patches of dirt show throughout the course. What a shame to see such disrepair since this was once a nice course to play and a little gem in the area. read more

I played Hilliard Lakes on a Sunday at 1:10 with a foursome and suffered a unique customer service experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the track which features well placed bunkers, many water hazards, and plays narrow. I booked my tee time after viewing their website which states "NEW WEEKEND RATES- 18 HOLES & CART $35- AFTER 1PM". I booked 5 days in advance and verified the deal over the phone. I requested the first available tee time after 1pm. I arrived at 12:40 and the lady at the cash register charged me $43. I politely told her of the new weekend rates they had posted on their website. She directed me to another "deal" on a printed off handout which applied to weekdays. Given that it is $8, I paid what she requested and waited on the rest of the foursome. My friend arrives and I explain my payment circumstance. We both walk in, by this time I had pulled up the website on my phone to verify I hadn't mistakenly read it, and show the lady the "NEW WEEKEND RATES". I show her the advertisement located on their website which now I know to be false. She charges my friend $39 to split the difference? I politely told her they should update their website to reflect what they are actually going to charge their customers. The remaining 2 players also paid $39. The last individual to pay in my group, without having been told of my payment experience, also is confused and asks her why it isn't $35, per the website advertisement. She proceeds to drop F-bombs and tells him if we can't pay their rates to play elsewhere. What horrible business principles. The point of these adult interactions is to enjoy a casual game of golf on a Sunday with friends at what you felt was a good local business. Turns out they would rather false advertise, insult you directly to your face, and provide profanity laden rants to their customers who are bold enough to have a business inquiry. I have told many people of my experience in the last 24 hours and all have been shocked and have avowed to golf elsewhere. Experience matters. I feel for the lady- why be so cruel? read more

Terrible. Worst golf experience you can get. If you're not an old man they don't want you there.

Have been playing this course for several years. I has the potential to be one of the best, if not the best, public course in N/W Ohio. The layout is fantastic. It is a shame that the management will not put any effort or money into the sand traps. The sand traps do not have proper draining, lowest grade of gravel type sand and are virtually unplayable, especially in wet conditions. They would be better off to just remove them to improve play and time. read more

Self-proclaimed "Lil' Augusta" is a decent course for the price ($41 for weekend 18 w/cart) with a good amount of trees, water and bunker play. The bunkers are hit/miss for condition but the course layout is good and forces you to manage your shots. read more

Course I've grown up on, in good condition this year thanks to rain. Great value on the weekdays, and new golf carts! Challenging for the novice and a fun place to score for the more advanced player. Friendly staff and far prices - recommend for Westsiders. Plus, no tee times requires after 2 most afternoons, can play 9 in an hour and a half most days (with cart) read more

Potential of being something great for the area is there but unfortunately not yet. This course will challenge you with the lakes, trees and tight fairways and is still one of my favorites. read more

Don't believe the starter at this course ever. Called to confirm a tee time and he said no need as 'we are wide open'. I arrived 30 min later to an outing that he said just showed up but it was clear they had scheduled it. I said it would have been nice had he let me make a tee time at which he made a smart Alec comment. Will not come back to this course read more

Customers Not Welcome: Over the years many a golfer has felt unwelcome and unappreciated at Hilliard Lakes. They have a reputation for being difficult and acting as if golfers are a nuisance to their otherwise perfect golf course. Always negative and unfriendly at this marginal course. read more
