Cute little shop in 8th Street Market with books, aprons, yarn, knitting needles, and other craft supplies. The two workers behind the counter were masked, which I appreciate during the pandemic. Like someone else mentioned, they seemed a bit too busy with themselves to really help us or show us anything in the store, even though we were the only customers. One never even lifted her head up to acknowledge us. There's a big snow storm about to blow in, and I was going to pick up some knitting supplies. I'm a newb and wasn't sure what to get, and the workers seemed too preoccupied to help. I did happen to find a candle I love. It was a bit pricey for the small size, but hey, it's Valentine's weekend so I treated myself. read more

Stopped in to Hillfolk today while spending time with a friend at the 8th St Market. I am not sure how to describe this store. There are books. Some candles. Yarn. Some DIY cross stitch. The staff wasn't interested in our being in the store. We noticed they have classes and asked to which the response was they were all booked up. We commented on how great it smelled in their store however she failed to show us which candle or scent it was. I honestly don't know how this place will stay in business. They seemed a bit snooty or uninterested in selling us anything. Are you really getting that much foot traffic? Based on the warm welcome, we made a round thru the store and on out the door. I still don't understand what the store is about...modern textile? I won't be back so it doesn't matter. read more

Wonderful stitching discovery! They have a great selection of high-end sashiko supplies as well as very cool books, and these gorgeous Arkansas-based tea towels that would be perfect for hand-dying. Incredible shop for anyone looking for a unique experience. Their workshops are well curated. The instructors they host for workshops are renowned and provide special experiences. They are so helpful if you're looking to explore new forms of art and I always feel welcome to be curious and ask questions. I love getting compliments on my scarf that I made in a workshop!
