The food, atmosphere, and wait staff are great. You can sip on wine or have your favorite fancy coffee with a variety of desserts after your meal. The flowers surrounding their outdoor eating area are well tended by the owner. The Friday night fish bake/fry is different than most places as you have a choice of hot German potato salad, baby reds or potato wedges, as well as shrimp. We travel from Chippewa Falls to dine there. It is one of our favorite places. read more

We brought 4 kids for brunch today. 2 of the kids have special needs and one was a little. We were a bit skeptical at first because there was mostly older people and our kids can be loud. I can't say enough good things about Tina. Not only did she make sure we had everything we needed, she saw one of our kiddos was melting down so she asked what she could do to help. She brought snacks to keep the kids satisfied. SHE WAS SO KIND AND IN TUNE! The food was phenomenal and the view was gorgeous. Such a gem! Tina, thank you so much for your kindness and acceptance! Fish Fry! The only night of the week Hill of Beans is open is Friday and the reason is the fried fish! As a born and bred Wisconsinite, living out of state for many years, I look forward to a fish fry on any return visit. But not until this visit did I learn about one of the best I've ever had! The menu is pretty limited but that's a good thing. At our table of 5, there were 2 orders of the traditional 3 piece "Fish Fry" and 3 orders of the "Walleye". Most places I've been to offer rolls or salad prior to the meal arriving. Just as I was pondering this, our fresh, hot, overflowing plates arrived! Along with our crispy fish were two pieces of thickly sliced marble rye, some of the best cole slaw I've ever had and potato of choice. Mom and I had the red skin potatoes which were buttery and garlicy and delicious! Schweety and Dad loved the warm German potato salad and Sis, stuck to her usual fries, which were also hot and crispy! Initially I expected that we'd leave with a bunch of takeout boxes. however, the food is so well prepared and delicious that very little of it left the restaurant with us! Our birthday group of 5 had a fine dining experience at the Hill of Beans Restaurant. They added a dinner on Saturday nights with 4 dinner choices. Each dinner choice comes with a 5 course event including: zuppa toscana soup, kale salad, sorbet, entree & desert (raspberry cheesecake). Wait staff was fast, efficient & friendly. Food was delivered at nice intervals in between each of the dishes. The 4 main choices that we each had chosen include: shrimp scampi with rice & brussel sprouts, prime rib with Brussels sprouts & baby reds; New York strip with brussel sprouts & baby reds & spinach ravioli with red sausage sauce. Each of these meals were fresh homemade. A little off the beaten path but well worth the drive. Stop & visit Timms Hill Cty Park & climb their fire tower just a couple hundred feet from the restaurant. It's the highest place in Wisconsin. The Hill of Beans also offers 'The High Point Village' Resort with rental cabins so you can stay the night & snowbike; swim in the lake; or hike, run, snowshoe or ski the trails. read more

This is a delightful little out-of-the-way place that is well off the beaten path. You have to want to come here, otherwise, you find it the way I did: looking for something else. The exterior is styled like a Swiss chalet, the inside appears the way you would expect a cottage in Up North, WIsconsin to look - pine logs, lots of knots, nooks, crannies and a fireplace. Tables and chairs look like they're right out of Grandma's kitchen,providing a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The menu varies, and you'll find coffee and tea in the morning, or anytime, for that matter. Walking into this restaurant will remind you of going to grandma and grandpa's house. This place is nestled in the hills across from a small lake. Breathtaking views while you dine inside or outside on the patio. Great breakfast and lunch options. My wife and I ordered the Wagon Wheel pancake platter and we most certainly did not leave hungry. Staff was friendly and service was quick. We will definitely stop again! read more

Wonderful food ! Everyone in my party had something different and left feeling satisfied and full ;-). Wait staff and owner were very friendly and helpful too (in helping me decide what to order) . The restaurant itself is decorated so cute and the outside is maintained beautifully as well. Our waitress told us we could take a drive on the property and check out their cabins which we did and they also looked well maintained, so cute and cozy too with beautiful views and scenery . What a pleasant surprise! Tucked into a lovely environment, overlooking a lake, this place simply sparkles with charm. The interior is as welcoming as the facade. I enjoyed an amazing club pannini sandwich of beef, ham, turkey and bacon with sliced tomato and red onion. It was perfect. If you are a lumberjack, order a full one but half was all I could eat. It came with chips, a pickle spear and friut, all for $7.95 - a real bargain! After lunch stroll through through the associated resort for more pleasant surprises. A hidden gem! My wife and I stopped in for lunch after spotting it from the Timm's Hill observation tower. A great setting across from a small lake, offering a prime view of the changing fall colors. The panini's and service were fantastic. Highly recommended if you're in the area. For the best dining experience choose outdoor seating if weather permits. read more

We visit Timm's Hill at least three times a year and always have lunch at The Hill of Beans. You can not beat the view when you dine outside looking over Bass Lake. They serve the best Reuben anywhere and that includes NYC. Don't forget the blueberry or rasberry cheese cake pie. Oh, their endless coffee cup is the best. Breakfast, lunch, and Friday Fish Frys are always amazing and if you haven't experienced guest Chef Lucas's Fine Dining Experiences on Saturday evenings yet- YOU MUST!! The food is out of the world - both in taste and presentation!! He is a Swiss chef who spent 10 years in Switzerland and he is unbelievably talented! I've had several of his meals and each one has been fantastic! He's only here until May 20th, 2017! Great little place to eat and relax. We go there once a year when we are in town for the Fall Ride. The food is outstanding. If you get the pancake wheel beware it is a monster.
