Zero stars! Avoid this place at all costs!…read more We made a reservation for this hotel several weeks in advance as Hilton Honors members. We selected it because it was supposed to be modern/newly renovated. We indicated in the reservation and confirmed a few days before our arrival that we would arriving late-around 10pm. Upon arrival, my husband, daughter and I were greeted with a non-plussed, indifferent front desk employee and given a room on the first floor next to the stairwell and one of the side exits--not an ideal location for quiet or safety. It was almost as if the worst rooms are given to the latest arrivals despite when the reservation was made. Strangely, the room also had a slight residual smoke odor, which I thought was odd given that the hotel was supposed to be newly renovated. I figured it had to be leftover from the pre-remodel days. We were tired and went to bed. Around 3am, we were awakened by super strong cigarette smoke wafting into our room. It was so bad, I went out to the front desk in my pj's. The employee (different than the one we encountered upon check-in) I spoke with indicated that it was a non-smoking hotel, but maybe the smoke was coming in from outside, which made no sense. Reluctantly, she agreed to check out the room herself. She only stood in the doorway and eventually told me she didn't smell anything. It was unbelievable! The smoke was everywhere! She was clearly lying and did not offer an apology or anything to help us. I had to press her to see if we could switch rooms and she told me we could not. As we were standing there, I saw a male employee with what could have been a pretty serious smoker's cough go into a locked door nearby. I had to wonder if that employee was involved somehow, which would explain why the room had a residual smoke odor to start. Maybe he liked to smoke in a room nearby on a regular basis. Or maybe a guest was smoking in a room nearby. Whatever the true circumstance, it was hard to say. I realize there wasn't much she could do if it were a guest smoking inside, but the entire situation was awful and I felt like there was zero acknowledgement of our discomfort. (I do believe that the hotel is supposed to charge a $250 fee to anyone who does smoke in the hotel, so something could have been done to acknowledge our plight later-though it never was.) I actually thought about going to sleep in the car at that point, but decided that might not be safest thing to do in the end. So we we sucked it up-literally-in the room all night. Suffice to say, we did not get much sleep and our throats were raw in the morning. My husband spoke with another employee in the morning and was coldly told that the night employee didn't smell anything. No apologies, sympathy or any semblance of customer service was provided. He also asked if there was another ice machine, as the one on the first floor was broken. He was told no--again, with no apology. Breakfast was mediocre at best. We had to ask if the "gravy" had milk in it as my husband is lactose-intolerant, and the kitchen attendant--the only truly helpful and attentive employee we encountered on our stay--brought out the giant can it came in and helped us to figure out that it did. As I was packing up, I started to notice all sorts of other things that were wrong in our room too. A broken toilet lid that was glued back together. Cobwebs in the corners of the bathroom floor and a dirty corner near the tub. Black smudge marks in the tub. A yellow-brownish ring around the sink drain. A slight residual stain on my duvet. None of which added up to a great stay and coupled with the smoke situation and lack of response from management, it was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had in my lifetime. If you have a choice, choose to stay anywhere but here. We are still shocked at the appallingly indifferent and cold response we received. There was no offer to assuage us in any way. We are now completely disillusioned with the Holiday Inn Express brand.

My second thought upon entering, "Do they allow smoking? This place has a serious hint of cigarettes and musty smells." Props to Lori at the front desk for being sweet when we ended up deciding not to stay. My mom is a priority club member so this definitely wasn't our first rodeo with Holiday Inn Express. From the dirt smudges on the pillow in the room to the sloppily made bed, lack of pool and general cleanliness, we decided to ultimately ask for a reimbursement and take our business elsewhere. The parking lot was heavily filled with trucks which served as our first hint that this location might cater heavily to the "on the road fella" scene. Holiday Inn Express perk: complimentary breakfast- however, I'm not certain the unclean/aged vibes make the breakfast sound very appetizing.

Wonderful hotel, only had one issue…read more Met my aunt and uncle half way here so we could spend the weekend together. Very clean, newer rooms, and very nice! Loved having the Starbucks in the lobby. Accommodating staff when my aunt had an issue with her door upon arrival (the battery was dying on the lock) so they had to switch her room but it was important we had a room next to one another and I had called ahead months earlier to make that happen. The staff worked with us to get her a room across the hall. This was on Friday night and they said the maintenance guy wouldn't be in until Sunday and couldn't fix it until then. Only complaint would be the pool. My daughter was so excited to go swimming but the pool was cold!!! Hot tub was bath water temp (bad for a hot tub, good for us) so we just hung out in there. We went to use the pool again at 8:30pm on a Saturday night and we could physically see the chlorine being shot into the pool. It was burning all of our eyes so badly! We also didn't want to be swimming with all the chlorine being injected in the water so she didn't get to go swimming :( Why not wait to do that another few hours when the pool closes? And turn up the temp of your pool so we can actually use it! We would use the hotel again to meet them for a weekend in the future, if the pool was fixed.

The tv was on a swivel so you could watch from the bed or the couch. Shower was nice and hot with good water pressure and includes shampoo/conditioner/body wash mounted on the shower wall. We stopped at the bar one evening for wine. The selection was limited as they were out of many choices for red wine. The bartender was friendly and accommodated us as best as she could. Breakfast was decent. The waffles tasted like pure sugar so you might want to avoid those. They also offered scrambled eggs and sausage one more and breakfast sandwiches another. The standard bagels, cereal and fruit were also available. Coffee was good. Michele was working hard in the morning keeping things stocked and fresh.

When we went to the main hotel to get our keys, we were greeted by a semi-friendly staff but a beautiful building and a very nice gift shop. (You receive 10% of the gift shop when you stay there.) The first problem was when we were checking in. The lady didn't explain very well on how to get to our suite and didn't have a map to guide us. She didn't even give us an address. After checking in, we went to the suite and find it, I was pretty disappointed that it was right beside the Pennsylvania Turnpike. It was very loud when you got inside the room as you could hear every car and truck that passed by. The room was very nice and extremely clean. We had a hot tub in our room, nice rustic furniture and a "home" kinda feeling. Some of the wallpaper was peeling off in the bathroom but that wasn't a big deal for us. We hung out, went to Walmart to get somethings and came back to our suite. We decided to cook dinner and made pizza. We ate what we wanted and left the rest on the stovetop while we stepped outside for a cigarette. My major problem was when I came back inside. We heard something moving, looked over and a mouse was eating our pizza on the stove. Now, I don't have a problem with a little field mouse but I certainly do NOT want him inside my hotel room eating my dinner. We decided to just remain there for the night and we just scared off the mouse. Bed was NOT comfortable but the blanket was very soft and warm. I'm not writing this review to scare you away from renting one of these decent suites, but just letting people know that they might have a little friend spending the weekend with them. It's just a mouse but the staff definitely needs to take better care of the suites. Between the mouse, peeling wallpaper, (and the fact that we noticed the suite beside us has a busted window,) the building just needs a little better upkeep. We would honestly consider staying here again, but maybe just a hotel room, not their suite. (I included photos of the mouse and how close you are to the Turnpike from your patio)

We have…read morestayed at many different Marriott properties over the years and am sure we will continue to do so. This property, however, fell short of my expectations. There was a major lack of hospitality, which is a very big issue when you're in the hospitality business. It started with the greeting, or should I say, lack of greeting at checkin. They asked my name, looked me up, assigned my room, and sent us on our way. The greeting I'm used to is being called by my name & being thanked for being an elite member. Who doesn't like that little extra effort/ acknowledgment? Then we arrived at our room and saw the extra pillows requested on my reservation were not there. Again, a little thing, but they add up. The room itself was ok. It was a suite so it had the extra seating area which I like. The best thing about the stay was the bed. It was super comfortable! Unfortunately there was an expressway outside our window which made it difficult to sleep at night. The breakfast was at best 'ok'. The set up of the room was strange, with the area for making waffles and getting the other hot foods in a tiny triangle shaped area that couldn't hold more than 2 people comfortably. Wish I had taken a picture. On our 2nd and final morning there, the girl working in this area never got off her phone. She didn't put it down even when people needed her assistance. Were they all bothering her? Checkout was similar to checkin, except the girl working there never even looked up and just nodded her head when I set my key on the counter. Again, a little hospitality goes a long way. Also, the bathroom floor was sticky, and the pool was super cloudy the whole time we were there So we didn't even attempt using it. I'll continue to be a Marriott customer, but sadly, not at this location. 2024-52
