The procedure itself was fast and easy (20 mins) - problems start with the billing/honest. I had a good size piece of tissue removed from my inner cheek that was close to my lip, didn't hurt or really bother me but was annoying. Went in for consult, they told me my out of pocket would be $500, and my medical would cover rest (approx. $350). I was told they had called both dental and medical coverage providers and medical was best way to go. Absolutely my fault for not checking and making sure this was done/true but I paid the $500 and then received a bill for the balance several months later after my medical denied the claim. Called medical, they said they had never received a call and had they, they would have advised them that this oral surgeon was not in my network so I had $1,100 ded that would not be met so there would be no coverage. Absolutely my fault for not calling myself (is it sad that I'm almost 40 and have never used my medical coverage for other than doctors visits so had no idea?) and I can understand them not telling me about the in/out of network because they wanted the business (procedure would have been 100% covered had I used an in-network provider), but having no grounds to verify that my medical would cover the $350, I do feel I was lied to. When I called Skinners office to inquire I was told it was my responsibility to call my medical provider to confirm and they would set up payment plan for me - gee thanks. Watch out for this office, they do not have your best interest in mind. read more
