READ TO PROTECT YOUR BELOVED ANIMALS Recently our family took our beloved pet to this clinic as he had drank some fluid, that in large amounts, was toxic. We didn't know how much he drank, so we thought we would rather be safe than sorry. We called several vets around the area and Highview was the one vet that seemed more than confident in treating him, as we caught it early enough the vet assured us it wasn't a worry, and that he would be just fine. Filling us with positivity and trust, she assured us he would be fine. He was to be treated with an IV for two days. When we realized the vet had put him in the back room unseen and unheard, behind closed doors, we made it a priority to stay by his side as we wanted someone to be there in case something happened. Day two rolled around and he looked quite out of it but the vet assured us he was doing just fine. We were to pick him up in the following morning and we're told they were closing so we'd have to come back in the morning to pick him up. With a seemingly lack of care for an animal we obviously thought the world of, he was not checked on near often as he should have been considering the medication they were giving him. Vets and helpers were always sitting in the common area talking, not watching the one animal being treated in the entire office. I got a call that morning saying he had passed away. The sweetest, kindest, most resilient animal I have ever seen. That our family loved so dearly. Was gone. At 5 and a half months old. We found out it wasn't the fluid he drank that he passed from, it was a severe overdose of medication. There was no attempt to help him as he was going downhill, and the part that hurts the most, is they had several ways to reverse the effects of the medication, but they left him there alone, with no one to help the sweet little guy. And for that we can never forgive the vet nor the business. For taking away a loved one we had put in the arms of a careless vet. For those of you who read this, think about how much you love your furry big or little animals before you put them into the hands of someone who wouldn't treat them near as carefully as you or your family. And I wish no one else has to go through the physical and emotional pain our family has. You have taken away a member of our family. I'm new to the area and decided to try this vet. I have multiple animals, cat, dogs, horses so I am used to dealing with a variety of vet and vet clinics. This one by far has the slowest service and most incompetent staff. The receptionist asks you what's wrong with the animal when you call to book an appointment. That's totally fine and normal. Then when you arrive at the clinic the receptionist asks again about your pet. You answer her questions then she tells you a vet tech will call you back. You wait in your car for another 15 minutes then the vet tech calls you and asks repetitive questions about your pet that should already be in the file. Then you go in and wait again until the vet finally sees you and then she asks all the same questions that the first receptionist and vet tech already asked to verify what's in the file. Really?! What a complete waste of time. And when you try to give this feedback to the vet she is defensive and says that's just their policy and if I don't like it I can go elsewhere. Yeah I think I'll do just that. Completely rude and terrible customer service. My neighbour warned me about this clinic. She said it was fine years ago but awful now. I would strongly recommend people go elsewhere. read more

Have used Highview Animal Clinic for over 20 years ever since we moved here, they have always been supportive and taken great care of our assortment of livestock, cats and dogs, coming out to our home when needed or caring for them in the clinic. Our family has been a customer for over 9-10 years. We have used them for our equines and dogs. Started out great but as the years went by it got progressively worse. Dr. Taylor was our vet when we first started and he was always great and to the point. As they started growing and adding vets their services was not as good. We have spent over $400.00 over a year ago for one of our horses and it did not fix her issue. Our neighbour is a reception/office manager at another vet and told us how to treat our horse and she was cured with a $5 bottle of ointment and vet wrap. The worse is the vet did not know what to do with her to help her out. So we stoped brining our horses over but continued with our dogs. Some of the receptionist are nice to deal with but others are not. They get very frustrated with you when they change their way of doing things but you are not aware of it. Educating your customers would be nice so we would know instead of being rude. One time last summer that I was there to pick up meds for my dog, I had my two young children 2 and 4 with me, because of COVID they took payment by telephone but I don't have a credit card and only a debit s I had to go in to pay. They told me I could not bring in my children in to pay with me. It was in the summer, I did not want to leave my young children unattended in the vehicle. Their solution was to leave them outside in there parking lot while I go in to pay. The receptionist was really rude with me again. I did not leave my kids in the parking lot and they came in with me to pay as I was not going in without them. I understand the COVID situation but what are mothers with young children suppose to do? Husband is working and we are not from this province so no family around to watch my kids. Our dog needs constant medication for his condition. I always called before I leave my place to pick them up. Never had a problem before. Did the same today, the lady told me they needed 24 hours before they can refill his prescription. He was out. I really don't give a dam if you change your policy but you can educate your clients that you are making some changes instead of being rude. Because our prescription expiration date was 2 days ago they wanted to see him so made an appointment but was told they would ask the vet to do a last refill until his next appointment. We could only bring our dog in October. The vet called me to say that they would have his prescription ready the next morning. But I had to mention that I had been unhappy with the service lately and that we were thinking of switching vets. So she ask me were to send our file and that she would not be filling my dogs prescription after all. I wonder if they care for animals. My dog has an autoimmune disease and it affects his eyes. No meds for him until we can find another one. She was not responsive to my complaints and told me they had great staff and apparently she had listened to a recoding of my call. I was not aware that I was being recorded. If I owned a business, I would want details why someone was not happy with the service but instead she got defensive. I am not the type that complains but I had enough. All our friends that were customers at this vet has switch because of bad service. So we were thinking that we would eventually switch but I wanted to give them a last chance and talk about it. read more

Excellent VET used them for over 30 years and would never ever use anyone else !!!! They care about small pets and are not in it for the money.. Worth the drive from Calgary!!!! No hidden fees, they are very informative on every visit and love the natural paths that people take and can actually give you pointers and info !!!! read more
