After collecting checks for the majority of the work several months prior to starting work, the company harrassed me frequently to collect final payment prior to the settlement of two insurance claims. By harrassed I mean multiple contacts per week by at least 4 different people despite giving the same response that "you will get paid when my settlement is fully paid." They want your patience waiting for work to get done but offer none while you're waiting on insurance. There are too many options out there for roofing and these guys make too big of a profit margin to have to deal with being treated like you owe money to the mob when you're waiting for large storm damage claims to settle. Avoid.

Hopeful it was just a repair job, we contacted our trusted plumber whose previously helped with pipe replacements but he wasn't in business any longer so we switched to Big Birge and are very pleased. They assessed that there was no way to repair and we'd have to replace. The great thing was that they donated some of what they made from the replacement to a local charity. They've given back to the community time and again with new water fountains at one of our child's schools. Unfortunately, months later we had a really bad drain clog problem that we could not resolve with our snake or natural drain cleaners (as commercial grade can ruin pipes & eat away at snaking equipment!). Their man came out and cleared our pipes and recommended a treatment to do monthly. While we haven't been great at the monthly treatment, we do notice that once we see things draining slowly and do use it, it seems to help which is so nice on our pocket not to have to call them! Glad they are there when we need them for the big jobs and with lots of helpful tips if you follow their socials or ask the service man when there. They're willing to share all sorts of tips! 1) Far more oversight and supervision of their crews/subs are needed during the roofing process:…read more- $300.00 damage was done to our chimney brick during removal of existing roof. Husker Hammer reimbursed us for that expense upon receipt of our photographic proof of damage; - shingle scraps were left lying on our composite deck during heat and in direct sunlight leaving areas of tar residue that we had to remove with a power washer; - not all shingle ridge caps were installed in a straight line resulting in a visual distraction. 2) Husker Hammer mismanaged the required permit and inspection process: - the City of Omaha requires permits be obtained prior to any work being started. Not complying with that requirement can result in the City assessing a monetary penalty. Husker Hammer did not obtain a permit until 4 days after new roofing had been installed. Our signed agreement states Husker Hammer was to obtain the permit; - we were advised by the City of Omaha, 6 weeks after the new roofing was applied, the required inspection had not been requested and we need to notify our contractor to submit the request. We did so and the inspection was conducted 7 days later. 3) Husker Hammer ordered two replacement skylights that were not as specified in our agreement: - the larger of the two replacements was reordered resulting in the need to for the roof opening to be temporarily patched,for 5 weeks until the correct skylight could be installed - the smaller of two replacement skylights was also not ordered as we specified and was installed without our approval. Husker Hammer advised it could be modified in place with the shade option we had requested. The shade option was ordered and arrived 5 weeks later. However Husker Hammer personnel did not properly install it. Husker Hammer then referred us to the manufacturer's local representative for resolution. The manufacturer's representative was very helpful. He is arranging for the delivery and installation of a new shade by one of their certified installers. 4) As 10/6/25, we are entering in our fourth month of resolving issues with the reroofing our home by Husker Hammer.
