The owners are so very nice and happy to talk shop aka Wine. So my husband drinks wine not me, but I tried the Artic Fox and had to buy a bottle, what can I say I like the sweet stuff! He decided he liked their white wine As well and picked up a bottle of Adalmiina which is a first he does not drink white wine? So kudos to you!!! So for reals those views are just freakin stunning so I will share a few. I would highly recommend this vineyard if you are in the area!!

Excellent. What a spot!!! What lovely owners!! We let the kids run on the beautiful field while we sampled a few wines.

Entrance with Burlington, VT, visible across the lake.

I was staying for business in Plattsburgh, NY, and decided to take the 30 minute drive out to the Highlands Vineyard and was not disappointed! The location is very scenic...right on the lake directly across from Burlington, VT. The couple who owned the facility were at the register and very willing to help. I did a 6 wine flight for $15, and bought a few bottles to take home for $22 to $25 each. They had gifts, craft beer on tap, and a boxed charcuterie board that you could enjoy outside on the patio or at one of the various benches facing the lake. Definitely worth the drive! They had dry red and white, semi-sweet rose', and sweet white wines available.

You can choose from bar seating, indoor tables, or outdoor spots with a perfect breeze. There's even a big street-side table that's ideal for bachelorette groups or larger parties. The whole space feels elevated, cozy, and a little magical. Drinks: The cocktail menu is insanely creative and the pours are generous. Their espresso martini is one of my all-time favorites... I stop in for one every single time I'm in Lake Placid. It's that good. Food: I think about this food at least once a week. The menu is built around shareable small plates, making it the perfect pre-dinner cocktail hour spot for your travel crew. Order a couple of drinks and a few bites while you take in the lake views before your dinner reservation. My personal must-orders: the charcuterie board and the mac and cheese. Unreal. Price: It's on the pricier side, but genuinely worth every penny. For the quality, the atmosphere, and those views? Not overpriced at all.

They serve complementary warm bread with garlic herb butter and it's delicious. The heirloom and burrata salad was the perfect starter, so fresh. I got the spaghetti with clams and it was one of the best I've had in New England. My mom got the special and really enjoyed it. We shared the grilled artichoke and were really surprised at how generous the portion was and how affordable the price was. Service was fine. Nothing noteworthy. Didn't get checked on very often, but maybe that's their style? Either way, really good experience. Would recommend and would go back.

Unfortunately, I think this visit will be our last. Two years ago, we ordered their meats, and everything was phenomenal. This time, we decided to try their pastas, and it was a mistake. How an Italian restaurant of this caliber can mess up pasta is beyond me, but it was bad. My husband ordered the bucatini all'amatriciana (or maybe it was spaghetti?), and it was anything but amatriciana. The pasta was drowning in a tomato sauce that tasted like Chef Boyardee, the guanciale was barely noticeable, and the whole dish had an overly watery, acidic flavor. It was awful. I ordered the mushroom fettuccine, which was better but still not my favorite. They went way overboard with the cream, throwing off the balance completely. For dessert, we ordered affogato, but our waitress walked away so quickly we didn't even have a chance to specify whether we wanted it with amaro or limoncello. She didn't ask, either, and ended up bringing ice cream without any topping (which was supposed to be included) and with a lackluster presentation. To be fair, the appetizers were excellent. The duck confit and crostini topped with sardines were both perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The price-to-portion ratio for the appetizers was also great, and we still loved the cozy, romantic ambiance of the restaurant. But there's no excuse for how disappointing the entrees were. For the price and reputation, we expected so much better.

The wines were excellent. Each one was thoughtfully crafted and beautifully balanced, with flavors that really reflected the character of the region. Whether you prefer something crisp and refreshing or smooth and bold, there was something to love. What truly made the visit special was the people. The staff was incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful without ever feeling pushy. They took the time to explain the wines, share insights about the vineyard, and make the experience feel personal. The service was exceptional from start to finish -- attentive, friendly, and professional. You can tell they care deeply about both their wine and their guests. If you're anywhere near Burlington or visiting Vermont, this winery is absolutely worth a stop. I can't wait to go back.
