I've seen our son advance through the belts faster than older students and some young girls have caught up to him despite starting after he started. So it really is what the student puts into it that they really get out a valuable life lesson and skill. Sure enough, the very polite person on duty turned to the computer, punched a few keys (no pun intended) and then told me I was good to go. What? Why couldn't I do this over the phone? It makes no sense. All I can imagine was the upsell. They tried to upsell me into buying individual sessions. No thanks. Again, great people but poor business practices. Took one star off of my 3 star rating. Here I am now (June) doing a few bills online. What's this I see? 9Round charged me for June? Huh? I see charges every month which stopped in May but then picked back up in June. Odd. Minus another star. I won't be going into the facility to cancel again.

The space is always clean and well organized. Russel has been the only trainer I've worked with so far and he's great. He has been very helpful whenever I ask what a move is or how to do it, I have never felt nervous about asking for help like I have in other places. I've been stuck in a funk where I've missed all the mid-day classes at most gyms and would have to go home, disrupt our evening routine to drive somewhere else, then get back to a delayed bedtime for my kid. 9 Round is the best because there are no class times. I pop in right when they open in the afternoon and get home right when the rest of my family does. I've been bringing all my co-workers here. My son loved the trial class, and he wanted to continue (He is one of the most undecisive kid on this earth, and him wanting to continue is a big deal). It's been almost 2 months since he started, and he loves the classes. The environment is very family friendly and they teach the kids respect and discipline in addition to martial arts (which my son needs badly). Their prime location is also what sealed the deal for us. They are located within close distance from the local elementary schools, which makes it convenient to take my son to the class after picking him up from the after school program. While Han Mu Do is a good form of martial arts, the Maple Valley location is the only location in Washington State. You will likely start over if you leave. With only a few licensed instructors, mature students are often relied upon heavily to lead lower students and classes. Favorites are compensated, others are not. As a result, the schedule is not reliable due to leader availability. Unlike Washington Han Mu Do, other martial arts studios often include some aspects of Asian philosophy, such as an active focus on the balance between mind and body, meditation as part of the session, and understanding that spirit and body need to be in harmony. This studio is about forms, sets, and workouts. Repeat. Overall, a good cost to experience ratio when compared to a gym or other exercise place. But is that really what you wanted to do when you join a martial arts studio?

My oldest has gained considerable confidence and belief in himself, while my five year old son is showing more respect and curbing his quick temper.
