This spot was very cozy. But don't forget to schedule your reservation in advance. We came across this spot on IG and went for the whisky and while my husband did have a few drams, it was the food that captured our hearts via our taste buds and stomaches. I've been curious to see how fish and chips are in the city vs. small towns like Craigellachie. The fish and chips here were delicious! Light flakey batter, crispy chips (fries) and served with the best house made tartar sauce I've ever had in my life. It was like tarter with whole grain mustard. The hubby was going to order a burger until he saw the servers continuing to deliver the steak and ale pie to the tables around us. The crust was flakey and the pot roast underneath was rich in flavor. We finished out the meal with the famous sticky toffee pudding and it did not disappoint! It was the most decadent dessert I've had in a long time without being heavy or too rich. The addition of ice cream was awesome!
Now, you do have to go downstairs to get to the bar and seating inside is limited. Fortunately, there is seating outside which is very nice at sunset. They were very busy on a Saturday night so there wasn't a lot of engagement with the waitstaff or the owner, but it was understandable. My only complaint if I had one would be how long it took them to take our order once we were seated and they didn't really check on us. My husband ordered dessert at the bar to speed things up and we went to the bar to get the bill as well. Aside from that, it was a nice dining experience. read more
