There is a two hectare lake in the park where you can see lots of different ducks, plants and other animals. In the summer lots of great flowers and insects can be seen. Going to the park is a great and free day out. You can park your car for free.

The exhibits focus on Robin Hood, the rebellion of Nottingham's townsfolk, and the struggles they faced under oppression in medieval times. It's incredibly informative and gives fascinating insight into the city's past. One of the most striking parts of the story is how rebels burned the castle down from the inside in 1831, and it was never rebuilt in its original form. Instead, the city transformed it into a museum, which makes it a unique blend of history and culture. Be sure to bring plenty of time--you can easily spend three hours exploring everything. There's also a lovely café and a terrace where you can sit and enjoy the views. Absolutely worth a visit when in Nottingham!

It's not huge in area, but still manages to pack quite a lot into a small space. The Arboretum pub is no more, unfortunately, but that still leaves the small lake (more of a pond really), aviaries and gardens to explore. Popular with students and the occasional dishevelled person talking to themselves, the Arboretum has character and it's wonderful that a green space like this still exists in the city centre. It's such a cool idea to have play equipment for young adults (and old adults), I'm rubbish on most of them, but I try to hang on whilst my friends spin me around. They have a couple of tennis courts, which are very reasonable (pay and play) but they have the same problem as many parks - vandals and dog owners who don't pick up after their pooches, which is a big shame.

The entrance to the leisure centre is to the right of the academy as you face it, and you walk to…read moreit through the car park. It is situated round the back. A pretty non-descript building from the outside (like the academy, which shockingly replaced the lovely old Manning school), it could easily be a big Sainsbury's. It is light and airy on the inside though and, as you'd expect from a brand new place, pristine clean. I can't judge the gym as I haven't used it, but the pool was fabulous. On my regular visits to Nottingham I'm used to swimming in the depressingly dark and shabby Arnold Leisure Centre but, as this was shut for renovation (one can only hope that it ends up something like this one after all the work), I was forced to come to Djanogly. A spacious entrance area with plenty of tables and chairs in leads to a mixed sex changing room behind the pool area. I swam one weekday lunchtime when it was fairly quiet; there were two lanes (one fast, one medium) and an open area. It's a shame that the large windows next to the pool are frosted so that there is no view, but I guess it's understandable so that the swimmers aren't overlooked by pupils in the school. I'll definitely be returning.
