This was the second hiking trail I found in Farmingivlle. This is a trail that you can hike on but I think it's meant more for mountain biking. I didn't have a whole day to complete the ten miles on the whole trail by hiking, I ended up doing about two miles before I found my way back. This trail was beautiful, but I generally give most trails about 5 stars. I love to get lost in the woods and just forget I'm on Long Island and this trail definitely helped me do that. From a hiking perspective I'd say try to get here as early as possible before mountain bikers start coming to use it. When I was on it I didn't see any mountain bikers.

No pics cause I was to exhausted to worry about a phone! Lol next time. Carey also does gatherings with bbq's and Rockefeller oysters in the parking lot and night rides there. It's well lit at night. Mainly a mountain biker trail, though we were hiking it was still a friendly trail- as we just made sure to stand aside giving the right away- the trail has a good mix of terrain in terms of hills, water views, mini rock climbing, making it a hearty hike without being too challenging. It provided very beautiful views, and a lot of switchback trails to explore-making each hike possible to have a different experience. A very nice visit! Would be great to use as a jogging trail!

I completed 4 miles on the blue trail which is much easier than the black diamond trail. But it was a challenge and I had to take some breaks. Still working on that cardio! Lots of vines, roots, and rocks here. On my GPS trail maps, it says this trail has an elevation of 1000ft. Probably true because going downhill was speedy, loopy, and fun. Make sure you have your helmet, safety first! Overton is quite popular and it's also close to the Glacier trail, so do both if you can. Go and enjoy!!

We concentrated on the wider and paved trails and eventually looped around 1(?) of the lakes. Many of the trails are shaded which was perfect for this mid 90s day, and the park was not crowded at Most people had masks down but pulled back up as others were nearby, we did likewise. I'm going to explore more of this overlooked gem, and I think a picnic on the lake when temps moderate. Towards the back of the one lake is a few well positioned benches( others scattered around the lake too) which we found perfect for quiet conversation and butterfly watching. I also look forward to returning in other seasons as was suggested by another review.

Made a hideous noise as it rubbed on the front tire. Just then I reached Springtown Road, saw a sign for their shop--just a few hundred yards away--and upon arrival they fixed me right up. There's a few different sections of the Naugatuck State Forest. We went to the Quillinan Reservoir…read moreBlock, which is in Ansonia. There are a few ways to access this park, we decided to go from the Ansonia Nature Center. The transition over to State Forest is pretty subtle, mainly with some markings on the trees. This park is also adjacent to some watershed land, that is also marked really well. This park has some nice hiking trails, with a lot of different loop options. We ended up doing a 10k (6 miles) hike, on the white and purple loop trails. The trails are nicely blazed, and there's a really good variety of trees. We went through some hardwoods and some pine forest, and there were lots of plants and some water views of the reservoir at various points along the hike. It's not too strenuous elevation wise, which was nice for a moderate hike. Mountain biking is allowed in the park, and we saw several people out for a ride, so it seems a pretty popular location for biking, and the trails seem not overly eroded. My only complaint is this park is adjacent to a gun club, so for a good chunk of the hike (mostly the white trail) was done to the sound of near constant gunfire. It's not the most tranquil thing, especially if you're sensitive to that sound.
