Their estimates are loaded with equipment not needed or removal of no existant systems. Lastly, the hvac estimate included equipment used for ductless systems, which should have been provided separately with a ductless installation estimate. This appears to be poorly assembled items and expenses meant for customers who lack understanding and knowledge of what constitutes a. HVAC while showing the contractor's lacking knowledge of ductless systems. Lastly, moments after the gentleman left, I got a call from a scheduler asking if I wanted to schedule a visit for 1st quality choice HVAC. Something's amiss.

Claude is very knowledgeable, efficient, friendly, and gave some great tips. I can't recommend him enough.

We had a very bad experience with Southern Seasons Heating and Air Conditioning.  It is our feeling…read morethat we were defrauded by the owner Claude McAlhany, who is also the technician that came out.  Our air conditioner stopped working on Labor Day weekend.   Claude came out and claimed to have added 13 lbs of freon at a cost of $1950.  It did not fix the problem.  He came back the next day and said the control board had to be replaced and charged us an additional $2,075 for replacing it.  This also did not fix the problem. When we called Claude back, his son texted us that his father had a heart attack and was at a hospital in Columbia.  I have no idea if this is true, but it seems suspect, as he clearly had no intention of coming back to fix our unit.  We then called Aptus HVAC.  The technician informed us that our air conditioning unit could only hold around 7lbs of freon and there is NO WAY it could hold even close to the 13lbs for which we were charged.  He also said that the control board was NOT new and had about 4 years of dust on it.  Needless to say, we were devastated that we had clearly been taken advantage of.  Aptus went into the attic - something Claude never did - and replaced the motor at a cost of $450.00.  We called Claude back and told him what we learned about the work he did.  He was defensive and said that we don't know what we are talking about.  He said that the unit may take 7 lbs. but we have to account for the coils and the piping to the house.  We did our research on our unit and learned that standard R-410A systems require about 0.6 ounces of extra refrigerant per foot of copper piping over the standard 15 feet. To need an extra 5.6 pounds, our indoor and outdoor units would have to be roughly 160 feet apart. This is incredibly rare for a residential home and especially for a home of our size, which is only 2100 SF.  We were clearly taken advantage of and overcharged.  When we asked about the control board, he claimed that maybe the box was open and that it might have gotten dusty sitting in his truck or that it got about four years of dust in the 4 days between when he installed it and Aptus came out.  His theories are not credible.  I should have verified if he was licensed before we hired him.  After the fact, I could find no record of him being licensed with the State of South Carolina, Charleston County or the town of Mount Pleasant.  When asked on the phone if he was licensed, his response was "Here is my license number, kiss my ass".  He then texted and said "don't ever contact me again".  Later that night he attempted to explain the 13lbs of freon with some shots of a Google search - but the data he provided was on a much larger unit than we own.  When I pointed that out - he went silent again.  I don't really understand how he thought he could get away with so brazenly ripping us off.  Maybe he saw two older people and thought we wouldn't figure it out. In any case, use caution and do your homework if you hire Southern Seasons.

We started using them in may of 2025, where they replaced a blown fuze. Had to come back again…read morewithin a month to replace another one. Then said we had mold in our ducts and charged us close to 6k to fix it. Total spent around 8k. Then .y ac goes out in oct 25. They come out and say i need a new ac compressor...quote me 6.6k for it. Say it would be better to get a new unit. Quote me over 10k for it (standard unit for a house under 2k sq ft). I get a second opionion and they say a fuze had blown and that the compressor is running fine. Total visit with new company cost 130 dollars and that included the 95 service charge. They price gauge and are dishonest. Do not use.

He diagnosed the issue with our clothes dryer very quickly and wasn't able to fix the problem due to it being so old..so he found us a new one and installed it the same day. Now a week later, the owner, Will calls, the part is not here. He promised us of it was not here he would install a universal motor that would work. No call nothing again. My wife calls and his response is, "what do you want me to do? I can't control the postal service" You need to call your customers and tell the the TRUTH! Will, I can't wait for karma to bite you! Your company was amazing...... but you have gotten to big for your britches! Bless your heart!
