Friendly but, way over priced and full of crap when it comes to diagnosing an issue. After more than a week of having my car, I called to get an update and they claimed to have trouble shot the issue and determined it was my injectors. After hearing that and the estimate was $1800+ I asked for my vehicle back because I could do it substantially cheaper myself. Not only did they charge $400+ for troubleshooting, they never fixed another issue I asked them to. Moreover, when I started troubling shooting the car I found that once I cleaned the MAF it fixed the issue and hasn't come back since. Sure they give you some slick PDF with all the "issues" with your car but, when it comes to an issue that may have multiple causes, they tend to go right for the most expensive. I guess this is how the owner justifies his new house. read more

Very disappointed. We took our car in for help, told us needed a new engine. This caused us weeks of stress, phone calls, time and money... We took our car to a reputable dealership in town, it's fixed and running.WE DID NOT NEED A NEW ENGINE! Bottom line they took our money and ran...This is not acceptable!! This is a nice clean place that has a corporate feel. That said l figured it would be expensive. They are definitely expensive but they did the job I needed. In a pinch it is a good place. If you can wait a bit longer and get your work done at a less expensive no frills place then it might be worth it. I have mixed feelings whether to go back or not. read more

Picked up my car yesterday for a brake job. I wish I would have called around and got estimates. It was $900 over what other places in town would have charged for the same work. High Tech did a great job, I just feel that the normal working class person can't afford them. When I explained how expensive I thought this was to them I was told I was "comparing Apples to Oranges". Which made no sense, it was a brake job for crying out loud! There was nothing special about it! Anyways, there's other just as qualified mechanics in the valley, save some $$$ and call around. High Tech has lost my business! read more

So I rarely do this, but I'm calling out a Wenatchee business for absolutely, without a doubt, taking advantage of a 79 year old woman who's car broke down on a road trip. My mother, Irene Reed, was on her way to one of her Master Gardener events in Eastern Washington when her car quit on her. It was diagnosed with bad alternator. Sadly, High Tech Automotive of Wenatchee got the job, and by the time they were finished they f...'d my mother over to the tune of $3,406.39 to change an alternator (and a bunch of other phonied up work to pad the bill)! I know my Mom's car (a 2007 Hyundai Sante Fe), and yes, there were some odd occasional noises on the accessory belt (I couldn't nail down the problem before she left, the noise was never there when I investigated), so I'm not totally surprised that it ultimately led to an alternator failure. I offered to come pick her up and leave her my car, but she had already had AAA take it to the above mentioned shop. I would have rather done the work, but Mom's car was already there. I figured she'd end up paying around $400 to have the alternator replaced, so even the itemized section for that work at $648.53 felt like way too much. This was, literally, highway robbery. These guys should be ashamed, but by the actions they took with my mother, these guys clearly demonstrated they have no shame. Share the word, save someone else from having to ever deal with these crooks. read more

First of all, I hardly ever write reviews. This experience with High Tech Automotive has compelled me to write one. I just had a new clutch installed in my 2005 Ford Escape, along with brakes all-around, all fluids flushed, and replacement CV Axle. Throughout the entire process, the owner (Gary) communicated clearly through texts, e-mail, and via telephone. I was sent a report to my e-mail that included photos of all items requiring service. Photos of the rust on my front rotors that was causing problems with braking and photos of the brake fluid with an electronic instrument that indicated the presence of moisture in it. Through talking with Gary several times, I could tell he was a straight shooter. It is very difficult to find an honest mechanic that does solid work at a decent price, but I am very happy with the service I received at High-Tech. I highly recommend!! read more

Brought my car in for a simple part replacement, which of course needed diagnostics and I was charged the max of what I was quoted for that (of course) then was quoted twice as much for the part I needed. It seemed they wanted to put a top-of-the line part into my 12 year old car, but even so, the most expensive I could find online was 130 cheaper! I was quoted 220 for labor and I was also given a nonspecific time for labor, which for this job at most should only take an hour, even if they encounter trouble getting the part out (labor usually being $80 an hour on the high end). None of this sat well with me, so I came to pick up my car. They are AAA backed and use a lot of words on their site like "honesty" and "trust," but I'd rather they would have shown me that their trustworthy, than just telling me that they are. Update: I got a friend of mine to install the part in my car for me. When he went to put it in, he saw what as wrong with it. There was a connection loose. All he did to fix my problem was plug the cord back in. This means one of two things: Either High Tech Auto didn't do the diagnostics that warranted 180 dollars, or worse: they did bother to look and didn't care that all it was was a loose connection and were going to charge me 800 for a new alternator anyways. I'm really impressed with Gary and High Tech Auto. I know Gary in some other settings and he seems to be a man of really high integrity and strong work ethic. He also hires guys just like him. I think if there's anything I love the most is knowing I can drop my car off and get a loaner car so I don't have to stop my busy schedule just to get my car checked out. I also appreciate that I'll never get charged without being consulted first about the problems and whether or not I want to proceed. Awesome service... awesome owners. Love it! read more

Although the staff was nice they couldn't figure out what was wrong with my diesel. They charged me over a grand for a part to fix it, I got my rig home and it broke down again. So I brought it back and they didn't discount it or anything when they made a mistake, they charged me $600 for another part and when I came to pick my rig up I RAN OUT OF GAS trying to make it the gas station straight from picking it up. They test drove it so much that they ran it out of fuel and the gas light was on. And then a few weeks later the check engine light came back on so I finally took it somewhere else to be fixed and those people got it right. Such a waste of near 2 grand. read more

We have visited high tech several times since moving to Wenatchee 2 years ago. Both our vehicles have over 150k on them so some maintenance and repairs are to be expected and recently we have had to deal with some costly repairs. Gary and his crew are very helpful and accommodating every time. Expensive unexpected bills are never an easy pill to swallow but I have 100% trust that they do absolutely the best job possible and will stand behind their work. I would NOT recommend! I called weeks in advance to have some maintenance perfomed, and was quoted a price. After dropping my vehicle off, I was informed that it was going to take a few extra days. No problem with that. However, when I picked up my vehicle, it was double the price quoted, and several of the items I requested to be replaced, had not been touched. To make matters worse, one of the components THEY replaced, was faulty. I took my vehicle back and asked if someone could LISTEN to what I was hearing. No one would take the time to come out, and told me to just drop the vehicle off the next day. It took a couple of days to repair, and when I got my vehicle back, the problem was still there. Maybe if they would have taken the time to LISTEN to what I was talking about, they might have repaired the right item. Instead, they chose to remove and replace instead of troubleshooting. I would NOT recommend this shop to anyone. The initial quote I got from this company was $1800. They informed me that my timing belt needed to be replaced because my power steering fluid had leaked on it, which made it slip. They clearly stated that in their initial assessment my engine, motor, and valves were fine and did not need fixed and would not need any additional work done. Two days later I got a call back from this company saying my car was running "rough" and they were going to go back in and look at the engine again. The next day they told me my pulleys needed to be replaced and that my price quote was now $2200. Another day later they called me to inform me that my engine and motor were damaged and my valves would now need to be fixed or possibly replaced; the new price quote was for $4000. A week later I received a call saying that my valves would need to be replaced and that would be an additional charge. Another day later they told me that the shop where my valves were being done sent the wrong parts and it would take another couple of days to get the proper parts back in and fix my car. I took my car into this shop almost 3 weeks ago. Every mechanic I talked to after this shop gave me my estimates informed me that when a timing belt slips the mechanics automatically know to check the engine, the motor, and the valves, which this company said they did. This company either did not do a proper initial assessment of the damage and the cost that it was going to take to fix my car, or they made a mistake in not checking for total damage, or they thought they could take advantage of a female who walked into their mechanic shop by themselves. read more

I went to High Tech Automotive as a referral, several friends have had positive experiences with them. I was having trouble with my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer. After their diagnosis, I was told that three of my ignition coils were fowled out. They were to replace them and change out spark plugs to the tune of $1800. They said they did the work and I got my car the next day. I drove it 2 days, before I was having the same issues once again. I was told by High Tech to come back and they would re-diagnose my car for a $250 fee and make repairs as necessary. I was quoted a repair price for $1600 for spark plugs and two more ignition coils. I refused and ordered new coils and spark plugs myself. I took apart my car and see that only ONE ignition coil was replaced. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 were old, rusty, dusty, greasy and damaged, number 4 was in nearly pristine condition, showing me that the only thing they replaced was the ONE ignition coil and NO spark plugs because were in extremely poor shape for only being in the vehicle for a month. I was scammed out of $1800, $750 for labor alone. My cost to replace all 6 coils and spark plugs $145 and 2 hours of my time. read more

I hired high tech to do an alignment on my 4runner and check a blinker that doesn't cancel after I turn. They performed their free multi-point inspection and did not perform any of the things I asked them to fix on my rig. I asked, why they didn't do the alignment? They replied they could not do the alignment because one of the tires had a chunk missing. So they charged me $49 for the blinker and an additional $49 dollars for the alignment. I paid a total of $115 dollars and my rig is in the same condition it was in before I took it to high tech automotive. High tech offered to sell me brand new tires after I had told them that I was currently attending college and I can't afford tires right now. A friend of mine told me that they should not have billed me twice. He said that my blinker issue is related to the same alignment problem I already have. He said that when an alignment is performed they adjust the steering wheel and the tires together at the same time. If I remember correctly, aren't the alignment done with the car stationary? They never asked me if I wanted the alignment anyway. That is my choice, not theirs. I was hoping to buy new tires for my rig when I can afford them. They drove my rig for about 8 miles and did not fix any issues I had. They did not spell my name correctly either. read more
