I noticed the J Brothers Flooring office sign as I was casually driving, and decided to stop in. Their online reviews were sparse. The Somerset office was simple and unassuming (they have now moved to another location in Middlesex, which I have not been to). The owner, Jack, was professional and down to Earth. He did not talk like a "salesman," which I liked. He gave me different choices and did not pressure me into expensive options (in fact, he tried to find ways to save me money based on my budget). My family was also with me, and he included them in the conversation. He stopped by my house to take measurements, and was respectful (removed his shoes without asking). I decided to go with him because I felt he had great business ethics and was trustworthy. His guys did a GREAT job, and even handled my furniture with care. I looked at all the corners and their precision was impressive. It felt more like a true custom job than a "contractor" job. I had one small area that needed to be fixed, and Jack sent his guys and did the repair for free. I talked to another flooring guy who said "it's not physically possible - you need to rip out the whole area and re-do it." However, one of Jack's main guys did it in an hour. There's a lot of flooring companies out there, but I would recommend you give them a shot! They do other stuff as well (carpeting, tiles), but I have not yet used them for it.

By Sunday AM, Issa came to visit with samples and thorough explanations of our options. He took preliminary measurements, walked us through the process, and quoted us a reasonable price. By Sunday PM, the materials were ordered, and by next Tuesday, his uncle & nephew showed up promptly at 8am, and worked nonstop until all the rooms were completed. What an amazing duo! You could tell they'e been doing this for a while, incredibly efficient. They took care of everything - moving furniture between rooms, setting up the padding and stretching the carpet, putting it down and tucking in the sides, and doing a great job of cleaning up afterwards. They even managed to replace the carpet around some permanent furniture, by cutting precisely around the fixture. Everything looked so pristine, and felt so soft like fine sand, and had that amazing new carpet smell. Plus they were friendly and considerate the entire time. Issa also dropped by during the day to check how things were going, and to gift us an area rug that fit our home's color theme perfectly. I had water damage to one of my room upstairs due to a radiator leak. I wasn't sure if we needed to do just the 1 room or the whole upstairs since the wood is all connected. When I had spoken to him on the phone he said there may be a slightly different color if we do just the one room. So before he came out, I asked if he can get us both quotes. He came out when I wasn't home but my wife was. He didn't measure anything. Look at the room where the damage was and left. He didn't look at the rest of the upstairs. I didn't get a message for him so I texted him. He gave me a quote for the one room. I asked, do you have a quote for how much it would be for the whole upstairs. He said he didn't look at the other room upstairs. I described the size of the other room upstairs and he texted back with a quote. I asked if you can send me in writing the 2 quotes. He said he has to charge me $150 for the quotes. Then I said, "What? Why?" He never responded. Just in case he didn't see it, I text him again the next day. He didn't respond again.
