They helped with ordering medical equipment - teaching us about the medications, safety, re-positioning, and all the things that are important for a person that is dying. I am not sure which services are covered for hospice under Medicare but mom was in good hands- we kept her at home and they came in (nurses, PCA, social worker) 2-3x week and as needed and really taught and showed us how to best care for her at home as well as assisted us down the scary path of death and dying- knowing that we can call them for backup as needed. They really helped mom and the entire family. Thank You!

She was barely eating and in pain. Everyone from Hospice was so caring and helpful during the end of life cycle. Mom went peacefully in her sleep one morning. Hospice not only cares for the patient but also the family, reaching out to myself many times to be sure I was ok and see if I needed grief counseling. Hospice employees are not just special people but angels, they made my moms last few weeks tolerable and comfortable for her. Hospice Care of the Berkshires took care of my Mom during the last 4 weeks of her life. She wanted to be at home, and Hospice Care made that possible. I didn't even know what hospice care was until I met all of these nice people who were in and out of the house, doing anything they could do to help.... even taking our two dogs out for a little walk if that helped. My Mom's main nurse was a wonderful woman named Laurie (Lori?) Moon ~ I hope she is still providing care to people because she is an angel!!

We initially met with a coordinator and before you knew it, we were receiving all the supplies we needed, a nurse, an assistant to help with personal care, a social worker & clergy to speak to if we chose. They were available to us by phone around the clock. I can't thank our nurse Maryann enough. As my Dad was declining rapidly, she rushed over to help us. After his passing, Maryann was kind enough to put clothes on him so he continued to have his dignity. Thank you Catskill hospice for making this very difficult time easier for us.
