I took my eldest daughter here for her 19th Birthday this past December. The owners were very nice and created a very relaxing environment. The tea we had was called "Blue People," and was a very delightful herbal tea. They also have many beautiful tea cups, saucers and sets for sale. read more

We absolutely fell in love with this place. The tea knowledge is incredible and they take their time explaining everything.

I'm always a bit hesitant for asian anything in Asheville but the owner seemed like he was very knowledgeable and respectful towards Chinese tea culture and travels to China to source the tea with other tea enthusiasts who are actually asian. I appreciate that the menu includes which region of China the tea came from. My friend and I ordered a pot of Supreme Jasmine to share which is a white tea base and comes from the province where my family is from (Fujian). They kindly explained to us how long to brew the tea and demonstrated the first pour. I like my tea quite strong and it tasted like home! We also got a matcha tiramisu to share which we thought was not bad but the matcha flavor was not strong enough for our liking. The flower petals on top are a nice aesthetic touch but they dont really add to the flavor of the dish itself and if anything the texture can be a bit off-putting. Wow. Just great. Two things upfront. 1) I have a real hard time finding decent Asian food in Asheville so I get a bit excited by anything good and 2) there seems to be an unusual number of tea house per capita in this city which I am now gonna have to explore further. So while I am not gonna make claims about the authenticity of this food...in presentation and taste it is just something good. The tea egg is lovely. The noodles are tasty and mochi are wonderful. But this place really is a tea house and they do go out of their way to be serious tea geeks. I am mildly interested in that and like a warm cuppa but totally willing to put up with it for some decent Asian food. Two bummers would be their vegan options are non-existent and this isn't a place for kids. You can have mochi and tea but that is about it for a vegan experience. So that means I will end up coming less as I cannot bring my vegan wife. I also did stop in once on a weekend with both kids in tow and they immediately started talking loudly and climbing on me. It was like a record screeching to a halt as all the very serious tea drinkers stared at us for bustin up their zen. So bottom line, not a family spot. Like a lot of downtown, they are catering to tourists but I didn't feel like their prices we outrageous. I will think up reasons to go back. read more

We were lucky enough to have another visit at the tea bar with Phillip. He is a wealth of knowledge and a delight to engage with while sipping away a wonderful variety of tea. We sampled White tea, Oolong teas, and a most outstanding aged Puhr. They have a steady stream of customers but Phillip is amazingly attentive. We are regular visitors to Asheville and this will be on my list to visit every time. I highly recommend the $15 tea experience. It is a fabulous way to learn and sample a variety of tea cultivar's. We stumbled upon this unique store, tea shop, and restaurant when walking down Lexington. The owner travels to China to source teas and offers over a hundred different teas from white, green, oolong, puer, in so many different varieties. They offer tea tastings where we were able to sample different types of teas, learning about the tea culture, tools, and traditions. I'm taking home some favorite teas and a tea set to continue to enjoy at home! I decided to try their educational tea tasting. The tea master that guided me through my tastings was named Philip and he was absolutely wonderful! He was very educated on the subject and you could tell he had a passion for what he was doing. I got to try lots of tea, some I was surprised that I actually liked! At the end of the experience I felt like I had expanded my palette and learned tons of interesting information about tea quality and processing. I arrived around 5 on a Saturday and it was pretty busy. There is limited seating here but luckily we were able to snag a table right away! There were so many great choices on the menu that I asked our server Diego to recommend me a tea according to my tastes. It took awhile before we got our tea with how busy it was, but it was fine for me since there was so much to look at in this shop! Everything was so beautiful! Diego showed us the correct way to brew our tea when it came out and we sat and enjoyed for awhile. I also got a matcha cream cake and it was delicious. Not too sweet or overwhelming in matcha. Stumbled upon this amazing gem when walking around town. They have a huge selection of teas amd accessories. They do a tea flight for $15 which allows you to try five different teas. So many excellent options. The owner, Hunter, served us and has an incredible knowledge of the different teas, their attributes, and health benefits. He is funny and entertaining and he really wants to share his knowledge and love for tea. We really enjoyed the tea and got a variety to make our own at home. We had already eaten so didn't try the food which sounds great. We did however take some sweets to go. They make their own mochi and moon cakes. So delicious! I just walked past this place today never knowing it was there. The place is absolutely beautiful. It has two parts: a retail/ tasting room and a tea lounge. They stay open until 10 pm. We walked in after dinner and shared a pot of rose tea and the following sweet treats: Mochi filled with local cherry and dusted with cocoa powder. Rose bonbon dusted with matcha powder and a rose petal. White chocolate mousse with jasmine. All were very delicate and delicious. The rose tea was really good too. We chose it because we didn't want caffeine in the evening. I want to go back to try the other teas. Looked like a cool place but I ended up walking out instead of staying. Walked in and the lady behind the counter and two customers at the barstools were chatting and hanging out. She said hi come in and make yourself comfortable which was welcoming but then nothing. I walked around a little bit and saw that they had a nice selection of teas and accessories for sale and that there was a second room where a few customers were sitting around with laptops and such doing work or whatever. I wasn't sure if you order and then sit down, sit down and order, how things work here, etc. I guess I just kind of wish somebody would've been more attentive and gave direction on what to do on your first visit. First time here. Setting/ambiance was stellar. Seeing all the wood tables, utensils, and accents made it feel far more authentic. Staff were all helpful, polite, and knowledgeable. If possible aim for a tea flight with Sarayah(sah-Ray-yah). 10/10 experience. Owner/manager was also very ready to help with questions and conversation. Did not get to try the food. Asheville has a few tea spots this is hands down my favorite. The space is brightly lit with big windows and the staff is always willing to walk you through the tea ceremony. This place is one of a kind, I would say very rare to find here in the states. They have a vast menu of different kinds of teas, I actually learned so much about different tea blends and tastes from one of their servers. The owner also told us about his story and background that lead him to opening up such an amazing establishment like this. This is an experience that I recommend everyone try, even if you're not a huge tea drinker - it's a must. There are pothos plants used as decor all around the tea room which I loved. The tea we chose was so fresh and rich, it was the best tea I've ever had (which unfortunately now I can't remember because we visited Asheville last November). A little pricey but definitely worth the experience. Service is great & employees are very knowledgeable & more than willing to share. (Once I came in right before closing & had an uncomfortable experience with a male employee, I left) Their Siberian Rose tea is probably my favorite, I also heard that they offer tea flights, which I CANNOT wait to try out sometime. The interior is a calm environment that doesn't get overwhelming unless it completely fills up. Music is in the background but easy to drown out, & if someone is talking, you can barely hear it. Once when it wasn't too busy, they even offered us another table to pull up since we had papers, books, & laptops out. They have some board games in the back & there are so so many plants to keep the atmosphere fresh! People come here to work, study, read, or just hang out. It's a great environment. My boyfriend & I once tried their tea flight ($15/person) & learned quite a bit after trying a couple of teas out. We actually found a new favorite that we HAD to bring home. read more

Stopped by here on our last day of vacation and I wish we stopped here first!! I'd eat here every day if I could. We started out the visit with a tea tasting in the front house. Joe was EXCELLENT. He took us through a variety of teas and herbal drinks. He managed to be informative and keep his attention on multiple customers with various needs. We are beginner tea drinkers and he answered all of our questions and recommended products based on our level and commitment to tea drinking. After the tasting we left with 3 bags. Then we stayed for lunch and that was out of this world!! We got the house picked plate and spicy pork noodle soup. The three dishes in the house picked plate really balanced each other out. Off the beaten path in downtown Asheville, this is a spot not to miss, especially if you have an appreciation for tea in a beautiful cozy setting. The retail section has a beautiful tea bar where the owner (Hunter) serves up knowledgeable conversation about various teas available for purchase. I feel like I've never really experienced the many benefits and subtle flavors of tea before walking in here. I purchased a beautiful red clay pot and various teas to brew at home and am very happy with the entire experience and the prices were very reasonable considering the quality. There other section of the shop is a lounge with many spots to sit and sip tea, eat some small treats or read a good book. Was sick of going to Dobra so tried this place with two friends this morning. We were the only ones there at 11 when they opened but the place was getting busier by 12:30 when we left. Hunter, the owner, was wonderfully knowledgeable and hospitable to us all and to every person who walked through the doors. As a novice tea drinker, i had loads of questions and he entertained every one of them. The space is really nice, only opened in July, great for a tea date in the "dining" area, or a flight sampling which is what we did. 5 different teas for $15. Absolutely worth it, a great experience for anyone who loves tea, asian culture, or just learning something new! A pot of tea is between $8 and $10 and can last you a solid afternoon of lounging, reading, or chatting with a friend. They do have a nice looking food menu as well. Simple dishes, mostly small plates, nothing over $13 i believe, and some desserts. Vegan and vegetarian friendly too, so a point in my books! A great place to spend some time in downtown.
