My family has been coming to High Altitude for one year now. Currently we have 2 children and 2 adults enrolled, and appreciate the family discount. What I especially like is the variety of class options and times, and the unlimited nature of the monthly fee. You can come in as many times as you want, and there are both morning and evening classes (for adults), jiu jitsu and striking, gi and no-gi, at beginner (which I am) and increasingly advanced levels. Learning jiu jitsu is difficult by nature, but the instructors are welcoming to beginners and willing to help. The front desk is also helpful and welcoming. The kids have class options daily, and can come every day, or not. My children have learned so much and made new friends. The instructors are fantastic and clearly enjoy teaching children. There is a sense of enjoyment and kindness without sacrificing order and self-discipline. High Altitude is competition-focused and advertises opportunities for various tournaments in the metro area, including in-house. My only wish is that they would offer a self-defense-specific class, but that's just not their focus. I would recommend High Altitude for anyone looking to start learning, or advance their current skills. read more

I've been training here for 5 years now and by far it's the best place on Colorado for MMA. The coaches are knowledgeable and want you to succeed. The staff is inviting and kind. I trialed both a striking and BJJ class and it was awesome. They're super nice about having beginners join the classes and make sure you know what's going on as the class goes so you don't feel too left out. As a woman and a mother to two little girls, I cannot speak highly enough of HAMA and the incredible job they're doing with their gym. My daughters and I started BJJ classes a few months ago and its been one of the best decisions we made for our family. My daughters have begun learning imperative life skills while making new friends and finding joy in moving their bodies. I took the leap of starting to train in martial arts for the first time in my life and I can't seem to get enough. This gym not only creates an environment welcoming to families of all ages and learning abilities, but it has become a safe space for me to train with experienced coaches and other like minded individuals. My experiences have ranged from being in a class mostly of women to being the only woman in a class and in both situations my coaches were encouraging, patient, kind and fostered an environment where I always felt safe and comfortable. Probably one of my favorite aspects of this gym is that my girls and I are able to take classes at the same time where I know I'm close by if they need me. The staff and coaches cultivate a space where I know my kids are safe while I can train just a few feet away. As a female, I felt very uncomfortable at this gym. The instructors kept giving me looks and making advances at me. I also overheard the gym owner talking to somebody and I've never heard someone be so racist in my life. If you want a true martial arts experience, I recommend you go to a different gym. read more

What a terrible, disrespectful place! The instructor talked poorly about me behind my back to the front desk staff, but when he noticed me, he pretended to take back his comments! The introduction courses are a joke and don't teach you any fundamentals. You're expected to be trained already. When you decide not to follow up with paid sessions, they call and harass you once a day trying to gain your business. Absolutely do not come here. PASS. read more

I'm a purple belt in BJJ and anytime I travel I like to train at different gyms. The team at High Altitude Yeti BJJ was very welcoming. The gym was clean and organized and the instruction I received during class was great. I was blown away by the amount of classes that were offered. This school truly has something for everyone. The people I rolled with all had a solid understanding of fundamentals. The professor came over and helped me work on a heel hook I wasn't familiar with, diagnosed what I was doing wrong and what I needed to do to fix it.
