Ben is such a fabulous coach and the class was really challenging and informative and fun. I'm so happy to have found this place and I love all the staff. Everyone was so sweet and welcoming and the classmates were wonderful too. I freaking love this place and I'm so excited to come again and try some different classes. This gym is good, but is a TOTAL CASH GRAB. If you are on any kind of budget look elsewhere. Pros - Class dedicated to white belts is great for beginners. - Some great and knowledgeable instructors. - No flying egos, they keep a nice respectful and friendly vibe. - Very clean, very professional. Cons - Most expensive BJJ gym in Denver at $215. Even world renown 10th Planet is cheaper. - When you quit, they charge you for the NEXT month. So if you paid Jan 1st, and quit Jan 15th, they go ahead and charge you for February. - Gym looks deceptively large - the BJJ area is as big as any other BJJ gym, and they run two classes at a time. Gets very cramped, I was always running into other people during warm up, rolling, and drilling. I saw people smacking their skulls together because everyone is rolling on top of each other. - Some instructors flat out don't give a crap (Don't go in the evening). read more

Much to my surprise, this place has become a big part of our family's life. As a middle-aged mom with 0 martial arts experience, I never thought I'd be doing martial arts 5-6 days per week. I do both BJJ and Muay Thai/Kickboxing. This place is full of black belts and some professional fighters. As a gym, they are highly competitive and generally seem to get the job done, winning team trophies frequently. There could be a lot of attitude, but somehow there's not. It says a lot about the culture of the place that someone like me can feel comfortable. Moreover, my kids feel very comfortable here. It was my now 8-year-old daughter who got the martial arts bug first. We took her to a lot of different gyms and tried out a several types of martial arts. This was the place she wanted to be. We had to contort our schedule to make it work, but she's been really happy here. She's made a few friends, too, which is a big plus. Now, little brother has also joined and is loving it. He's small, and I've really appreciated the way the coaches have worked with him to get him comfortable rolling with bigger kids. Pros: -- Most of the instructors are really good. Many of them are black belts or experienced fighters who have been teaching for many years and take the job of instructor very seriously. They aren't just fighters who also teach because teaching pays for their training. They have black belts teaching beginners and kids. --The instructors really want to help you improve. There's not this kind of hazing, see who can take it, before they get serious about helping you train. They take training beginners as seriously as the advanced people. --If you're having difficulty with something, instructors are generally willing to help you--even if it means taking time outside of class to do so. --They have a very high instructor-to-kid ratio in the kids classes. Many times, there are 3-4 coaches there working with about 10 kids. As a parent this gives me comfort that someone's got eyes on my kids during rolling or sparring to help coach them but also keep them from getting seriously hurt. After all, young kids just starting out in a combative sport are not known for their control and good judgment, so the adult supervision is important. --They seem to strike a good balance with the kids between letting them have fun and making sure they are safe and learning. They can be kids. They don't have to be serious all the time, but they are still getting serious training. --They offer adult and kids classes at the same time. As a parent, this is great! I can get a work-out in at the same time as my kids rather than just sitting around waiting for them to finish their activity. I train alongside several other moms and dads who are doing the same thing. --The culture of the gym is very friendly and welcoming to newcomers. Many fellow students greeted me in my first weeks and made the effort to learn my name and a little about me. --It's also welcoming to women. Women are still a small minority in this gym, but there are women instructors in both Muay Thai and BJJ. There's even a women's BJJ class. Yes, sometimes I'm still the only woman in my class, but most of the time there are a handful of us. This is also true of the advanced levels. Cons: --Pricing is steep. I can't believe how much money I pay every month to this gym for our family membership. That said, it is all-you-can-eat and you get a lot of personalized attention. You can spend all day at the gym and take 3 or 4 classes a day if you are really into it. And, it's a little thing, but they give you the belts/shirts you earn. You don't have to pay for them, as I've heard some other places require. --Evening classes, especially, can get a bit crowded. The attitude is "more training partners is better", which I understand. However, there have been a few times when it was tricky to avoid crashing into another pair. The flip side is, though, that they seem to never turn people away. You don't have to pre-register for classes, so, you can decide at the last minute, and you can be confident you'll have a spot. They're opening a new location in Lowry in October, so maybe it will naturally get a little less congested after that. read more

ETC is by far the best Jiu Jitsu Academy in all of the Denver/Boulder area. Each Easton has a slightly different feel, and regulars, but don't be surprised if you see teammates from other Easton gyms popping in for some cross training or specific training/privates. Amal, Eliot and Ian have really grown ETC Denver into an amazing family atmosphere, that is also very, very serious when it comes to training for competitions, etc. read more

The environment and culture is one of a kind but I encourage you to try a class and see for yourself. The BJJ, Muay Thai, Kick Boxing, and strength training is world class and it's not unusual to see a professional fighter train side by side with your everyday weekend warrior. Easton Training Center Denver - Your typical class black belt city! - Gyms Near Me - Denver, Colorado

I've trained in Muay Thai (and a little BJJ and Krav Maga) at serious gyms on and off for maybe 8 years as I've moved around the country for work and school. From that standpoint, here's what I think is important to know about Easton: 1.) There are MMA/BJJ/Muay Thai/Kickboxing/Krav Maga/Martial Arts gyms where the members/coaches are nice, welcoming, and well-meaning, but are not training you for anything practical (or just that the training is crap). And then there are gyms where they train serious competitors - but the members can be jerks or clickish. And if you're not one of the 'cool kids' in the upper level classes, the training isn't great. It's also sink or swim, there's a high injury risk factor at classes, and no one seems to be willing to tell you what it takes to 'fit in' or move up in the gym. So you end up sitting around for a year waiting for them to finally accept you (which may require some brown nosing) so you can FINALLY get some real training in. Neither of those situations are ideal. Over the years, I've made it a point to avoid the first type of gym, and just bide my time (and try not to get hurt) at the second type of gym. And that's what makes Easton different. Easton somehow manges to be a fun, challenging, welcoming, and low-injury training environment while ALSO providing high quality, practical training. This goes for their BJJ, Muay Thai and Kickboxing (fitness based) training/classes. Easton is also home to the Elevation Pro Fight Team in Colorado.....enough said. 2.) As other reviewers have said, pricing is on the higher end in terms of MMA gyms in the Denver area. BUT, it gets a bit pricy mainly if you want to do BJJ AND Muay Thai/Kickboxing. Having gone to trials at 3 other gyms beforehand and seeing their prices for the same training, Easton's prices are not that far off for the going rate in the Denver area. And after getting to compare the training quality of the gyms in the area during my trials, more than ever does the saying 'you get what you pay for' ring so true! Also, membership at one gym means you can train at ALL of their other gyms and affiliates (after COVID anyway). ------ I will end by saying, that you can tell a lot by a trial session. Whatever gyms you are considering, take the reviews into account and then TRY IT FOR YOURSELF! And of course, definitely give Easton a try :-)! ------ At this point, I've been training at Easton almost 2 months. This place is awesome! They do classes in Brazilian jiu jitsu, Muay Thai, and a variety of tough but fun fitness classes (kickboxing, boxing, boot camp, etc). I'm a big fan of the boxing, and will be starting jiu jitsu classes soon! If you don't have a kimono or hand wraps or boxing gloves, they rent them out for a small price. All of the trainers are super nice and helpful and all of the people that come here are also really friendly. I guess the facility is brand new and is state-of-the-art when it comes to BJJ and Muay Thai. I guess they do kids classes too but thankfully I don't have kids. I ended up joining Eastons because they offered early morning classes every day of the week and it worked for my schedule. I had no idea the amount of quality technique they teach and high level professors, coaches and students they have. Most important to me, Amal has created and cultivated a true family environment, full of support on and off the Mats at all of his schools. Ian has also built an amazing team at the Denver location. I have taken major steps in personal growth off the mats from knowledge I gained here along with a better understanding of jiu jitsu. Easton is by far the BEST martial arts training facility in the Denver area. Easton offers World-class instruction, excellent training facility, and an amazing community. Easton has Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Fitness classes. Whether you want to be a world champion, a UFC fighter, want to learn self-defense, or you just want to try something new, Easton has it all. The facility has showers and lockers, massive mat space, a fitness area (weights, rowing machines, etc), and offers a huge schedule (classes as early as 530am to as late as 730pm). Easton has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The staff and members are quick to help out new people. The instructors are fantastic and usually stick around after class if you have questions or just want to chat. I have made lasting friendships and gained a love for Brazilian jiu jitsu at Easton. I have been training at Easton regularly for 5 months now and it has 100% been life changing. From the community of people who train there to the high level instructors this place has it all. Every instructor truly cares to see you improve and their dedication to making each class worth your time and energy is remarkable. I'd never trained any martial arts before stepping into this gym and I am so happy this was my introduction. I absolutely love my gym. If it's fitness you're after, I've lost 12 lbs in the last 3 months just from training jiu jitsu 4 days a week. I'm 36 years old, 5'7" and weigh 152lbs. Haven't weighed that much since high school. I have the best cardio and physique I've ever had in my life. If it's community you're after, Ian and Eliot share the message and goal for all of us to be good people. I love surrounding myself with that energy. This is the Best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy in Colorado and the Mid-West. ETC (Easton Training Center) also has badass Muay Thai and Cardio Kick Boxing programs. Their kids program is top notch and once my toddler turns 4, I'll be promptly enrolling him. Walking through their doors 8 years ago changed my life forever. There's nothing like learning and testing yourself on a daily basis. All the coaches and instructors are extremely helpful and friendly. Theres nothing like a full body workout for your mind, body, and soul. This is what Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is all about. I've already written a Google review for this gym, but I just cannot say enough good things about this place and everyone should know how amazing the entire gym and all its staff are. I've been training BJJ here now about 7 or 8 months. Training at this gym has been a delight from day one. I tried one other gym in the Denver area before I came to Easton, and they were probably adequate, but felt impersonal and the professor didn't take the time to welcome me and kind of just threw me into a class without any introduction or information. This trial-by-fire method may work for some newbies, but as a relatively small woman in a pretty male-dominated sport, I was very intimidated those first few days and could have used more of a helping, welcoming hand. In stark contrast, someone from Easton reached out to me before I even set foot in the gym and invited me to show up early on my first day of training. On my first day, one of the coaches took the time to introduce me to some basic warm-ups and moves (and helped me tie my belt!) before the class started. I knew at the end of my first class that this was the gym for me. Training BJJ at Easton has given me more than just a great workout or the opportunity to learn a martial art; I have made amazing friends here and have felt so welcomed from the first moment I stepped on the mat. I look forward to every class I attend and am genuinely sad when I can't make it to training. The professors and coaches here are accomplished fighters, skilled, knowledgeable, encouraging and genuinely cool people. They want each student to improve, and succeed, but also to be safe and enjoy themselves. Classes are offered frequently and at multiple different times of the day so I can always fit something into my crazy schedule. I spend most of my time at this Denver location, but I've tried a number of the other locations around Colorado and have only positive things to say about each of them. Easton Denver is a great place to train. The instructors pay very close attention to each and every student and helps them correct every small thing to make them have better form and skill. The staff maintains a very close relationship with everyone and gets to know each and every students name. They always greet you when you first come in and they always make it feel very welcoming. Here's the deal: I'm not really a get on the treadmill and run for 45 minutes kind of person. I've also stated that I'm not much of a yoga person either. No, no. For me the best kind of exercise is the kind that gets sweat in my eyes and bruises on my body. I played roller derby for three years and it was the best workout I'd ever had and I've been searching ever since I retired for something that was a suitable replacement. Then I found Easton.This place does Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muy Thai, Kickboxing and Boxing (and they have a treadmill if you want) and while I initially went for BJJ, I've discovered that I love just about all of their classes. I always get a little chuckle when I think of the motley crew that both works and trains here because on the outside, they look like some pretty intimidating people, when in fact, they are some of the friendliest, most inclusive bunch I've ever met. There's a real culture of respect on the mat here and everyone is given a smile and a handshake at the end of most classes. If you've ever thought about trying one of the more aggressive fighting styles, I urge you to give Easton a try. They have a free trial class and it's well worth it to give them a go. The membership is a little pricey, but when you consider that the trainers are nationally ranked fighters in their arenas, I think it's worth the price for the training that you're receiving. read more

I just joined Easton Training Center this month for the fitness classes. To put my review in context, I'm a 32 male college professor with zero interest in learning MMA. I joined purely for the aerobic benefits, to lose weight and to relieve stress. If you have similar goals, I cannot recommend this place enough! The place is very, very clean and well maintained. All of the staff/management are extremely nice, and the instructors are very good at providing interesting, motivating and effective workouts. After looking at several other gyms/fitness classes/personal trainers in the area, I'm convinced joining Easton's is the best decision I've ever made in terms of achieving my fitness goals. read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would. This place is amazing. So much talent and instruction under one roof is extremely hard to find. I took part in three programs of instruction here: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Boxing. Outstanding all three. The instructors here are top notch and take a genuine interest in both your safety and your progress. This is truly a place for everyone from the brand newbie to the hard core trainer. The flexibility in scheduling is what really attracted me to this place. They have boxing and bootcamp classes that start as early as 5:30 am. I took them several days per week and was happy to see they were so well attended. The facilities are amazing. This place was recently remodeled and they spared NO expense. An authentic octagon, large mat training area that is also fenced in, and a very large heavy bag area for boxing and muay thai. They also have clean locker rooms with real showers! You can buy your pro gear - including gis - here as well. And shakes and stuff. And I have to give huge shout out to Olympic boxer/trainer Carrie Barry. She is one of the greats and I learned more under her in one month that I have in a lifetime training with others. If you are at all interested in boxing, come here. Even if it's just for that. She, like the others, is a truly gifted martial artist. And knows how to pass that knowledge on. I absolutely love this place. I was referred to Easton by a co worker doing martial arts at a different gym. He said this place was pretty intense. I was doing Krav Maga prior to Easton and it will always be my first love but, the place i was at before wasn't too structured; we learned the same thing over and over again which is great for muscle memory but not so great when you are trying to learn different things especially to defend your life. I decided to try Easton BJJ and my theory was "i should learn ground fighting because the fight may not always stay standing..." as in Krav Maga teaches you. My first trial for Easton, i was HOOKED, addicted and wanted to inject BJJ and KB/Muay Thai into my veins, if you will. I could not stop thinking about it. I keep learning different things and meeting new people AND it is structured. you see yourself progress each class even by a tiny bit. I finally got my 1st stripe and that to me showed progress. It can be scary doing something so "in your face" like sparring or sparring in BJJ, but you don't have to feel scared because the coaches and professors are there to teach you and help you and MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT GET HURT. Coach Jorge, purple belt, makes an effort to make sure that we "protect our partners" in BJJ and that is something I truly can respect and appreciate. Since BJJ was so new to me, the fact that he said that made me feel comfortable. In BJJ we spar and roll with higher belts and in order to make sure they know you are new, uncomfortable or want to learn is just to be straight with them and let them know you are uncomfortable; they will take it easy on you and they will teach you which i find amazing because again, if i am uncomfortable they dont feed off of that, they teach me and show me maneuvers to make me feel comfortable. that is something i really appreciate about this place and these members. I could go on and on but if you are thinking about BJJ, come this way. I drive from the east end of Aurora every day to come and i do not regret it. read more

Excellent training center! I did the month groupon and plan to continue into MANY additional months. I'm doing the kickboxing program and hoping to move into the Muay Thai program! Everyone at the gym is so friendly! Not just staff but the community as well. I've been to other gyms where I was thrown into a random class while they were sparring which was INCREDIBLE intimidating and kinda scary since my partner was going for the kill and I had very minimal training prior. The last gym I did a trial at prior to Easton had me teamed up with the largest and angriest guy in the class. He was in the class because he had gotten in too many fights to begin with and was looking for a healthy way to fight.....guess I got lucky. He then proceeded to spew his blood all over me during the class while the instructors watched closely by and did nothing. Needless to say, after these encounters elsewhere I was PLEASANTLY surprised to have such a kind, caring staff around me, a clean facility, and good technique at a good pace taught to me. After a month I hadn't had a single day where I've left unsure if I want to go back. In fact, my boyfriend surprised me with another month at Easton and I burst into tears because I was so excited! I was very happily surprised to discover what an excellent gym Easton is - the mat space, number of practitioners, and the variety and quality of instructors makes this gym on par with a place like Renzo Gracie's academy in New York. I like to drop in to jiu jitsu schools when I travel, and so whilst in Denver, I popped in to Easton training center. Mats were full of a wide variety of levels and players. This was open mat, on a Sunday, and there were thirty people rolling. Awesome rolls, friendly and open. Good attitudes. Staff was very friendly. Welcoming, friendly. Front desk girls might be too attractive as many of the younger guys loiter around the front, chatting. :-) However, that's not their fault, and young men are young men. On that point, great variety on age too. Old guys, like me, young bucks, everything. I don't know where the negative reviews come from, this place was a great place to train. read more

I LOVE Easton Training Center! My experience has only been with the fitness classes (kickboxing, boxing, and crossfit.) The instructors are helpful and encouraging. The classes vary so much that it never gets boring. Everybody is there to work hard and although that might sound intimidating, it actually is extremely motivating.
