This place use to be the old pooled pies shop/restaurant but closed it doors many years ago and nw reopened as a bar grill/restaurant and what a transformation they done there plenty off seats downstairs and there seating upstairs aswell or if you perfair you can sit at the bar. We were left to relax with drinks and the waiter couldn't have been lovelier. He brought us fresh popcorn as a bar snack and kept replenishing it without being asked to. The cocktail menu is fairly decent and, although I didn't have one myself, I saw plenty of other diners with them and they looked appealing.

It is just a shame everything wasn't top notch. Muffin Break is on the ground floor of the Grand Arcade shopping centre in Wigan, right next to the lift. The cafe is quite a strange shape, with some seats in the brighter part next to the till and others being down in the store, where the decor is much different and slightly darker. They was newspapers to read. I ordered a Cinnamon Latte and they also had Gluten Free Strawberry and Banana muffins, I ordered a Strawberry one, the muffin tasted quite nice for gluten free, although not the best muffin I had it wasn't the worst either and was terrific value considering the price of gluten free cakes out and about and was £2. My Cinnamon latte was satisfactory, although it was nothing special and no where near as good as the one I later got from Starbucks, which is a short walk away from this store. My table was dirty when I got sat down, I was annoyed to see this as it had little crumbds of gluten, which would of made me very ill if it would of come into contact with my food and coffee, so I had to ask a member of staff to clean it, she had no problem doing it, but they should be a server always cleaning tables when they become vacant. The tables were not very big, the tables are mainly to seat 2 people but honestly they would barely be enough room for 1 person to have coffee and cake. As I enjoyed my Strawberry muffin, I made a risk and decided to get a banana one on my way home, the risk was they could sell out as I would be visiting near closing time and I was dissapointed to find they had all sold out, the staff didn't seem too appolegetic about this and the barista actually semmed like she was going to laugh. Even though they have nice gluten free cake here, I feel 2 stars is right for this place, the low rating is mainly for the following reasons - Strange lighting - Tables not being cleaned when they become vacant - Coffee not being as good as it could be - Staff not showing kindness or sorrow when my products was out, (normally even at Starbucks they show sympathy) - Table size.
