WoW. I've been back in okc, resulting in an unexpected extended stay ~ 5 weeks. During that time I've dined at Hideaway Pizza at least once, if not twice a week (NW Expressway and/or Broadway locations), sometimes alone, other times with friends and/or family. Once to celebrate a birthday. Once to celebrate having a solid, wonderful support group, as I face the reality of cancer's return. I can create a nice, long, descriptive review about the consistently excellent service. I can pat-them-on-the-back for always allowing my ESA Pup in, without making me produce the proper paperwork (which I always have available.) I can tell you about their excellent pizzas and that they're one of the few pizza places that have Anchovies as one of their toppings! Hideaway is a great place to land to work your afternoon away. They're always gracious, no matter how long you occupy their space. If you're nice, they'll even change the tv station a little bit for you. They're ALL THAT. They were out of their House Red. I asked for next cheapest Red for same as House price. $1.50 difference. Javone, Manager, said no. Repeated many reasons why he was unable to accommodate. I pointed out that if staff doesn't count correctly or orders are turned in late, vendors don't deliver in a timely manner. It sounded like an internal problem to me. I don't think I've ever interacted with a Hideaway staff member where I didn't feel the urge to grab a hold of them and say, "I like you. Will you be my friend?" The pizzas here are fairly delicious. Better yet, the pizzas are unique. If you go with friends who are open to trying a variety of things, you can end up getting to bite into a little bit of everything on the menu because they're willing to let you split two types (maybe more?) of pizzas on one pie. Personal recommendations: 1. Paradise Pie. You cannot go wrong with this. Chicken, bacon, mushrooms, alfredo sauce, etc. 2. Tulsa Hurricane. My personal favorite. If you enjoy Hawaiian pizza with a bit of a kick (jalapenos), you will like this. 3. Big Country. For the meat lover. You may feel your arteries slowing down after a couple slices though. 4. Hideaway Special. Each slice is covered in one type of topping. And they are not stingy with the toppings. Not my jam personally but I get why people like it. 5. Fried mushrooms. Get it. Get. It. In case, they don't automatically bring it, ask for Ranch. You hear me? Ask. For. Ranch. They're slightly expensive compared to other pizza places, but it's usually worth it. Occasionally, there will be some special contest with a big spinny Wheel of Fortune sort of thingie happening, where someone from your party gets to go up and spin it, and if you're lucky, you can get 50%, 75% or even 100% of the meal paid for by the establishment. Okay.... we all love a good pizza but on this day I was craving something different for my lunch. Got to really looking at their menu and noticed that not only do they have the fried mushrooms but they also have a cheesy stuffed mushrooms on their menu! The fried mushrooms and fried mozzarella are so popular that Hideaway meets patrons halfway by offering the 50/50--a half-'shrooms, half-mozz pairing. Both are delicious with the complimentary ranch and marinara sauces. I had eaten at this location about 2 times a week for years. They knew my name and what I liked. Then came COVID. Didn't visit for 2+ years. When I did return I was amazed they still knew my name and even what I liked. Back to 2 times a week, on average, and it's always excellent. Turner normally waits on me and he's always great. Right when I walked in an overpowering smell of bug spray slapped me in the face. We asked the waitress if they had just sprayed for bugs, she looked at us like we were crazy! Despite the nasty smell we stayed to eat. It took forever to get our food. Hopefully management will find a way to make the dough in-house; I hope the realize the Subway and Jersey Mikes proof their FROZEN dough in the store as well. I indulged in the BBQ Chicken pizza, in short, too many onions, and the chicken was well hidden under the cheese. Truly cheating patrons out of the chicken. It is really BBQ onion cheese pizza. Additionally, I tried their famous fried mushrooms. Nothing spectacular here as well. Nothing to truly set the taste of the presented dish that I would considered "World Famous." I am only giving a 3 star rating because of the server. He was quick, very courteous, quick to bring me drink refills and the check. Most importantly, he was not pushy. Was going to eat here this evening, but was told that I would have to wait for 30 minutes. Normally I don't mind waiting, but they had an entire section open. When we arrived we checked in, waited, and then were directed to our table of 8 and 4. There had been no mention ever of splitting up.... Even when we're seated. Good lord, the thin crust Prime Rib pizza was ridiculously good. My girlfriend and I are mostly health freaks. If we eat pizza, it has to be planned ahead of time so that we can be "good" for the rest of the week. However, in a moment's notice everything changed. When we sat down at Hideaway that fateful evening, the tables were riddled with signs advertising a seasonal "Prime Rib Pizza." Suddenly, my life only had one purpose, to experience that pizza. I knew that with good arguments and selling points I could convince my girlfriend to try it, but I knew there was a lot at stake. She would be upset if our rare splurge was wasted on a mediocre pizza, when the pepperoni option was a guaranteed success. But I had to do it. I asked the waiter if it was popular, to which he confirmed but not in the most believable manner. Didn't matter; I had to try it. I rolled the dice. With full confidence, I convinced my girlfriend that it would be the best thing ever, and it was. It was quite possibly the best pizza I've ever eaten. It was at least a top 100 of my best dining experiences. Even the leftovers heated in the oven were damn delicious. We had a party of 12. Everyone's food was absolutely decadent and delicious, as far as I could tell. The service was glacial, but I'm still rating it as 5-stars due to exemplary customer service in the past and the best pizza I've ever had. Me and my wife ordered a pizza ahead of time as we were buying a car nearby. When we went to pick up the pizza, we decided to eat in the restaurant as we had a 45 minute drive home. When we sat down, we asked if we could get some help. The manager said that they dont allow carryout orders to sit in the dining area and that we would not be waited on. I went to the bar to see if I could get served there. The manager said that the bartender was "busy doing something else" and would otherwise not serve me.. I was pretty offended as there was a total of 6 customers in the dining room / bar including us scum of the earth carry out customers. I would understand if we were intruding during a peak business time. Sadly, if I come to Warr Acres again, I will not spend my money at Hideaway pizza. Aside from Empire Pizza, Hideaway is one of my favorite sit-down pizza restaurants in OKC. To say "the pizza is good" wouldn't be doing the restaurant enough service. It's not super thin but it's nice and crunchy. Toppings were numerous and well placed. Plenty of sauce. We went in on a Saturday at 7:30pm which is probably only one of a handful of times we have been into Hideaway at dinner (it's usually our lunch choice) Honestly there is nothing absolutely amazing about the pizza that isn't any different than any other normal pizza place but it is definitely good. There a quite a few choices on the menu of pizzas with a wide variety of different tastes within them and obviously an option to build your own pizza. They have gluten free crust, hand tossed, and thin. If you are looking for THICK crust (which I'm not) you won't find it here. My fave Hideaway Pizza: Tulsa Hurricane- Marinara, cheese, Canadian bacon, bacon, pineapple, and jalapeños. Menu has appetizers (typical fried mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, cheese bread, etc) salads (their Caesar is a pleaser and I'm a proud Caesar snob) sandwiches (which the Italian is really yummy) pastas (never tried) and desserts (lemonade cake or cookie + ice cream hit the spot) Probably one of my favorite things is they serve your drink in an awesome cup to take home with you (think Eskimo joes cup) and can't forget they their Ranch is a-ok! Service is always pleasant and tonight was no different with the exception that it was our waiters first night and there didn't seem to be anyone to help him with the 5 tables that he was drowning to help. Once he did explain that it was his first night and was very apologetic that he had not taken our order yet (came to check on us and tell us he would go check on our order- for us to remind him that we had not ordered) it made a little more sense that he seemed kind of scattered. He in no way was a bad server just trying to find his groove on new ground. I think they maybe should have put him in an area with a more seasoned server to help keep an eye out for him but he did manage on his own so kudos to him. I have been a pizza connoisseur for nearly 40 years. I have eaten in all manner of pizza joints from Colorado to North Carolina and I have to say that Hideaway pizza is hands-down the most delicious pizza I have ever eaten in my entire life. My husband and I dined here tonight (with our 3 small children). The staff were incredibly nice and attentive. Our server was Katherine and she was kind and helpful. Great pizza, slow service. Ordered pizza ahead of time and waited curbside to pick it up. Waited and waited. Saw other complaining to the manager about the excessive wait time. Okay they are short staffed. I thought. 2 people came out to check for my order. Finally after waiting almost an hour, went inside inside and found the pizza had been waiting for over 20 minutes and nobody marked the spot I was waiting in for the pizza.
